What a game. Ancheta is really something special. So far almost all of charles tiu's recruits are doing really well. Only negative so far si sanchez. He needs to keep his head in the game. He reminds me of Gozum's era where the blazers back then would let the crowd and pressure in their head. Good thing this team is deep and a lot of guys can pickup the slack.
Id like to believe that benilde's defense did a solid job against san beda. Its just that beda had a lot of 2md chances.

For san beda, once Sajonia got cold, they were done for. This has been his problem the inconsistency. This is were they miss jacob cortez, if he aint scoring, atleast he's getting his teammates involved. Another is that the bedan perimeter defense was caught lacking all game resulting in 3's or blowbys.

I think ancheta inherited oczon's clutch ability against beda haha

If only Jommel shoot more, he could easily average a double double. He had 9 and 11 rebounds in his first 2 games. He should take some shots being taken by Sajonia and Payosing. He is too timid in offense and mostly defer to SAjonia for scoring.

I think Puno is also a non factor in the first round last season, but his impact grew significantly in the second round. I think he's just being careful not to get injured. Missing factor for SBU is their shooter, Tagle. Been shooting blanks for 2 games now even if he is left wide open.

again, SBU tends to struggle defensively with very good and creative opposing guards.. i.e oczon, escamis, guadania, torres, CEU guard doing residency in Letran, and now ancheta..

also 6/2x sa 3pts earlier today..these are mostly shots coming from the system.. is it the case that Benilde caught up with the system? considering that they have ex Lions in their tean.. some shots also heaved just before shotclock expired..

A bedan friend that watched the game with me said that it most likely that the ex bedans still know the plays of coach yuri. Kanina I even noticed on an inbound play, royo was calling the play signaling 2, cometa was his man, caught wind of it also siganaling 2 to his teammates and the possession ended up on a missed shot being well defended by the blazers.

Bad shooting percentage did it for San Beda. They could have taken the lead during the dying minutes of regulation but only manage to make 2 to 3 shots. Some of the missed shot came from the three point area. CSB was lucky. Even Coach Charles acknowledged that breaks of the game went their way. San Beda will beat CSB where and when it matters the most.

Officials of the “Grand Old League” confirmed the incident on Tuesday, September 10, and said that Mapua has banned one of the persons of interest in the incident, confirming that the instigator came from the Cardinals’ side.

Rumors of the instigator’s identity have run rampant online after a similar mauling incident happened in the MPBL.

The MPBL episode involved the Abra Weavers also attacking a referee last April 18 after losing to the Pasay Voyagers.

Several key coaches and players of the Cardinals are also core pieces of the Weavers.

Coach YG?

not coach yeng guiao tho...

Just same initials...lol

Let's observe if he will still be in the games or ben ch or venue

He was also sanctioned in the MPBL years ago for spitting on an opposing player. Hehe

Kinda an OT. Do you guys think Cajucom should transfer? He is buried in CSB's depth chart from what i have been seeing. A reunion with Coach Jerson (his Hope Christian HS Coach) in EAC seems feasible.

I think he's fine where he is right now. Its just that he's had the pleasure of being in benilde teams that was loaded in the guard rotation. His rookie year season 98, Cullar, Pasturan, Nayve and Carlos were all above him in the rotation but still got some minutes when csb needed the boost. Last season he was one of the first guys off the bench after cullar and pasturan graduated. Now for this season even with the addition four new guards in ynot, ancheta, cometa and torres, Charles tiu has still found a role for him, and based on the last game, still played big minutes. Good thing for him, coaching staff still uses 3 guard lineups especially when matching up against smaller, faster teams. His defense is reliable and his role for the team now is the combo guard off the bench, usually the secondary playmaker which charles tiu usually prefers on the court. If he moves to eac, i think it will be a lateral move since eac also has a lot of guards, even after doromal and lucero graduates in the next 2 seasons. Ochavo, quinal, villarente and the other hope christian guards will all still be there anyways.

I still think he'll get his shot to shine, since he'll outlast both ynot and cometa if he plays his full 5 years, but for now he's fine as a trusted roleplayer in benilde's system. Not to mention he and his family loves him in benilde.

What is his sanction from the ncaa? Ban in games only?

He is also with the red robins. Will he step down?

He is banned for now as they are still waiting for the results of the official investigation. He may or may not return, depending on the outcome of the investigation. Mapua VS EAC later, hopefully, the commentators will provide more insight about this incident.

That bad shooting percentage came from csb's great defense so lets not discount that. The only thing that kept beda up in the 1st half was the offensive rebounds and 2nd chance points. 2nd half was no different, csb's defense was still limiting opportunities for san beda, only csb managed to improve in their rebounding. In that last few minutes both teams were not making their shots, csb by then was tired, especially Liwag who only sat maybe 2-3 mins max in that whole 2nd half. CSB was lucky sure, but they made shots when it needed the most and thats what winning teams do. They executed their offense well and managed to find the right holes in san beda's defense. If you even noticed csb even missed a lot of shots that rimmed out so yeah i believe the breaks of the game were balanced out. Anyways csb already beat san beda when it matters the most, like in season 98? So we'll see if they are are able to make the right adjustments in the 2nd round.

Baste committing too many fouls. I think that’s what they need to improve as they progress this season.

LPU doing good defense on Are and LPU going small matching Baste’s run and gun.
