NBA signings and trades 2010-2011

After losing All-Star forward Carlos Boozer to free agency and the latter signed with the Chicago Bulls, the Utah Jazz seemed doomed to be a so-so team after years of post-season appearances. But something magical happened, they shipped Greek center Kousta Koufus and a Second Round draft pick for next year to the Minnesota Timberwolves for forward/center Al Jefferson. Al Jefferson had 2 consecutive seasons of 20 ppg and 10 rpg performances before being derailed by injuries. The addition of Jefferson makes the Utah Jazz more competitive and fills in the void left by Boozer.

Presumed Line-up for next season (2010-2011)

C Mehmet Okur
F Al Jefferson
F Andrei Kirilenko
G CJ Miles
G Deron Williams

Reserves:

Paul Millsap
Gordon Hayward
Raja Bell
Ronnie Price
Kyrylo Feslenko
Sundiata Gaines

I will be interested to see how rookie Gordon Hayward will play for next season.

Still a good team.. Though I would give the 2 spot to Bell.. But I don't know if he is still the Raja Bell of before..

I believe Raja Bell's best playing days were in Phoenix and ofcourse that is all behind him. He will be 34 this year but it does not mean, he can contribute off the bench; that said, I will have CJ Miles start just like he had started over the years since the Utah Jazz has also lost a potential starter in Wesley Matthews.

re: the Jazz

re: the Jazz

I am wondering if Paul Millsap is content still coming off the bench and sharing minutes with Jefferson. He would be a starter getting starter's minutes on most teams in the league and he's had to 'wait it out' behind Boozer for many years and now they bring in Jefferson.
Perhaps a trade on the horizon? Just a guess

I had that in mind too honestly. I was thinking of Al Jefferson starting at Center and Paul Millsap at power forward since Mehmet Okur reportedly will be out until late November but cleared for training camp and Millsap is fresh from signing a Three year extension with the Jazz last July, that will keep him on Utah until 2014.

Millsap and Jefferson would give the Jazz the rebounding needed that Boozer and Okur could not provide.

Fear the Dear: Milwaukee Bucks

Fear the Dear: Milwaukee Bucks

One of the better surprise teams of the NBA last year, the Miwaukee Bucks are gearing up for a successful season and realize their potential as an elite team on the East.

Starting lineup:

C Andrew Bogut
F Ersan Ilyasova
F John Salmons
G Carlos Delfino
G Brandon Jennings

Bench:

Drew Gooden
Luc Mbah a Moute
Michael Redd
Larry Sanders
Jon Brockman
Chris Douglas Roberts
Corey Maggette
Keyon Dooling

The Milwaukee Bucks are a loaded team and would be a strong opponent for the division rival Chicago Bulls. Bucks added front court depth with Gooden and Brockman.Stability in the back-court with Dooling. Also, they added another weapon on offense in Maggette. With Andrew Bogut and Michael Redd recovering as well as emergence of point guard Jennings, Eastern Teams must respect the Bucks as a force to be reckoned with.

I can't wait for the Bulls and Bucks to lock their horns together, literally. Lol.

One of the great Division Rivalries this upcoming season I think. Should be worth a look even if you're not a Bulls/Bucks fan.

Their would be starting line-up is evenly matched. So does their back-up personnel.

Former Kansas Jayhawks guard Sherron Collins had been signed by the Charlotte Bobcats to a undisclosed contract, believed to be a 1 year Non-Guaranteed Contract.

Collins went undrafted on the recently held NBA 2010 Draft. I can remember Michael Jordan commenting positively on Collins' game and I myself used to watch Collins on the NCAA. I expect Collins to be the second point guard guard behind DJ Augustine.

Sherron Marlon Collins (born March 18, 1987 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American basketball player who most recently played for the University of Kansas in the Big 12 of the NCAA. As an All-American member of the Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball team, he earned a national championship in the 2008 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament, three Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament championships, and four consecutive Big 12 Conference regular season championships. He was regarded as one of the leaders of the team and was its captain.
Collins grew up in Chicago where he was a multisport standout athlete at Crane High School. He was regarded as the second best point guard in the nation by Scout.com and was considered one of the two best class of 2006 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois (along with Jon Scheyer).
Collins was a well-decorated basketball player at Kansas. He was unanimously selected to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team for the 2006–07 Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball team.[1] After leading the 2008–09 Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball team to the Big 12 Conference regular season title, Collins was named to the 2009 first team All-Big 12 team.[2] That season, he was named a consensus second team 2009 NCAA Men's Basketball All-American. He was also a consensus first team 2010 NCAA Men's Basketball All-American as a senior and earned the Most Outstanding Player award while leading his team to the 2010 Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament championship. He was included on many of the watchlists for the most prestigious college basketball awards as both a junior and senior. Collins is the all-time winningest Jayhawk over a four-year span with 130 victories,[3] and he holds the school record for most consecutive free throws.
Following his Senior season, Collins was eligible for the 2010 NBA Draft but went undrafted. Shortly after, he signed a free-agent contract with the Charlotte Bobcats and will participate in their summer camp.[4] He represented them in the Orlando Summer League.

Sherron Collins was born in Chicago, Illinois to Stacey Harris. While growing up in Chicago he overcame the adversity of a father who periodically spent time in jail as well as an environment filled with gang life.[5] He lost his best friend to gunfire at the age of 16.[6] Sherron had had two children by the time of his National Championship season: Sherron Jr. and Sherr'mari Marlon Collins (born April 6, 2007; mother is Re'Quiya Aguirre).[7] In 2006, he dealt with the death of his first born and the following year, he endured a sex scandal.[5]
Growing up, Collins was very active playing several sports including football, basketball, and baseball. In 2002, Sherron began his high school career at Crane Tech Prep High School. During his time at Crane, Sherron was a standout multi-sport athlete, playing wide-receiver/free safety on the football team and pitching for the baseball team.[8][9] On the basketball court, Collins averaged 19.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists as a junior during the 2004-05 season. During his senior season, he averaged 33 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the Cougars.[8] He was regarded as the number 2 Chicago metropolitan area and Illinois basketball prospect in the class of 2006 behind Jon Scheyer.[9] As a result, he was named a McDonald's All-American as well as a Third-team Parade All-American.[8] He was selected as a First-team All-State selection in 2006.[8] Additionally, Collins played in the Michael Jordan All-American Classic in April 2006. Scout.com ranked him as the number 2 point guard in the nation.[10] He was the No. 21-ranked player in the class of 2006 and the No. 4-ranked point guard by Rivals.com.[11] Collins helped guide Crane to the 2003 and 2005 conference and city championship titles.[8] His best game was a 45 point performance against Whitney Young Magnet High School during his senior season.[8] In 2009, ESPN named Collins to the Illinois Prep All-Decade Team.[12]

[edit]College career

[edit]Freshman season
As a freshman, Collins was an honorable mention All-Big 12 selection and a unanimous selection to the Big 12 All-Rookie team.[1] He averaged 22.3 minutes and 9.3 points per game. He led Kansas in scoring five times and in assists on 12 occasions. On January 15, 2007, Collins scored 23 points vs. Missouri.[13] He scored 20 points at Kansas State on February 19 and he had 20 vs. Texas on March 11 in the 88–84 overtime 2007 Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament championship game victory.[14][15] Collins was also a solid student earning Athletic Director's and Big 12 Commissioner's honor rolls in the spring of 2007.[8]
[edit]Sophomore season
In his second season with the Jayhawks, Collins won the 2008 Big 12 Sixth Man Award.[16] For the week of March 12, he earned Big 12 Player of the week.[17] Collins helped the Jayhawks capture the 2008 national championship, averaging 8.3 points and 3.8 assists in the NCAA tournament. He made two key plays in the title game versus the Memphis Tigers, first stealing an inbound pass with under two minutes remaining in regulation and Kansas trailing by seven, then hitting a three to cut the deficit to four. Later, with seconds remaining in regulation and with Kansas trailing by three, he took the ball down the court following a Memphis free throw, barely escaping fouls, and passed the ball to teammate Mario Chalmers, who made a three-pointer to tie the game with two seconds remaining. Kansas would go on to win in overtime.[18][19] He missed six games due to a stress fracture of his foot.[8] Following the season, he had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.[20]
[edit]Junior season

[edit]Senior season

Philadelphia 76ers

Philadelphia 76ers

Last year was atrocious. However after securing the #2 Lottery Pick on the NBA Draft 2010, resulting into drafting guard Evan Turner, this will be an interesting year for the Philadelphia 76ers.

CKR13's starting lineup for the Philadelphia 76ers 2010-2011 NBA Season:

C Spencer Hawes
* Hawes is not a center, he is better off as a shooting forward. 12 ppg and 6 rpg won't get you nowhere for a starting center.

F Elton Brand
* So far, Brand has not lived up to the billing of what he was brought in for.

F Andre Iguodala
* The versatile Iguodala is the leader of this team, no doubt.

G Evan Turner
* The 76ers are expecting flashes of versatility in Turner and he and Iguodala could be a lethal 1-2 punch of versatility. Though Turner had an eye opener on the Orlando Summer League 2010 where he struggled offensively but was able to haul down rebounds and dish out assists.

G Jrue Holiday
* He was a sleeper on the draft behind batchmates Brandon Jennings, Stephen Curry, Johnny Flynn and Rodrigue Beaubois. But showed flashes of brilliance in scoring and passing for the Sixers team that really struggled last season.

Their most glaring needs is a true center in which they 76ers have none at the moment as Marreese Speights is a forward. Paul Davis cannot be a starter as he has not proven anything yet if he really can play at this level. Tony Battie is too old.

Losing Samuel Dalembert is a big loss as Dalembert had been holding out and providing the defensive and rebounding presence expected from a bigman for the 76ers since the Allen Iverson days.

Overall, the most positive and encouraging sign is the arrival of new head coach Doug Collins.

Is this the end for Tracy McGrady?

Is this the end for Tracy McGrady?

With the recent signing of guard Keith Bogans, the move by the Chicago Bulls have sealed off the Tracy McGrady rumors in Chicago. Earlier last month, McGrady had a work out with the Los Angeles Clippers but the Clippers had not issued an offer sheet for McGrady.

It's been 2 weeks since McGrady's work out with the Bulls and so far, McGrady has been idle and no teams have fielded offers through his agent.

DraftExpress is reporting that Tracy MacGrady signed a one year, $1.35 million deal with the Detroit Pistons.

Just watched it: Not very funny, but kudos to Tolliver for not kowtowing to James and not being afraid to poke fun at a superstar.
