Thanks for starting this thread, Kings!

Now the NBA season really begins. Personally, I think the Play-Offs should be a round-robin style tournament where losers are eliminated once they lose their first three games. But...oh well.

Time for predictions!!
East

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Detroit Pistons
Cleveland in 4. Maybe 5. Cleveland will be in the Finals.

Boston Celtics vs. Chicago Bulls
With a healthy Garnett: Boston in 5. With a hurt Garnett: Boston in 7. Chicago is playing well, but they're not strong enough yet.

Orlando Magic vs. Philadelphia 76ers
Orland in 5. Philly has started to turn sour.

Atlanta Hawks vs. Miami Heat
Atlanta in 6. Miami has a good coach and a great star, but Atlanta has a good coach and much better depth.

West

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Utah Jazz
Los Angeles in 6. The match-ups are great: Deron Williams vs Dereck Fisher. Kobe Bryant vs Andrei Kirilenko. Lamar Odom vs whoever LA has at SF. Pau Gasol vs Mehmut Okur. Andrew Bynum vs Carlos Boozer. ...in theory, I really think Utah has a puncher's chance. Unfortunately, Pau, Odom, and Kobe are just too clever.

Denver Nuggets vs. New Orleans Hornets
Denver in 5. Without a hurt Peja Stojakovic, NOLA has too little scoring compared to Denver.

San Antonio Spurs vs. Dallas Mavericks
Wow. This is a tough one. San Antonio in 7. Or Dallas in 7. I don't know. San Antonio is still a very tough team without Manu, but he always brings world-class scoring and creativity to this team in the post-season. Without it, they're going to struggle. Of course, Dallas is a one-man show because neither Kidd nor Howard are that good. Dirk is their only chance.

Portland Trail Blazers vs. Houston Rockets
Houston in 5. Portland has a lovely, beautiful, fun style. Unfortunately for them, Houston has Yao Ming.

Western Conference:

LA Lakers (1) - Utah (8) - 4-1 or 4-2 for the Lakers;
Portland (4) - Houston (5) - balanced matchup, Houston will win 4-2 or 4-3 (this is more difficult, because the last game will be in Portland, so 4-2)
Denver (2) - New Orleans (7) - Denver will win without difficulties: 4-1 or 4-2...
San Antonio (3) - Dallas (6) - with Ginobili injured, Dallas has a chance... I anticipate a very balanced matchup, my bet goes to Dallas: 4-2 or 4-3, 4-3 is more difficult to Dallas by the same reasons than Houston - Portland matchup...

Eastern Conference

Cleveland (1) - Detroit (8) - 4-0 or 4-1, no chances to Detroit...
Atlanta (4) - Miami (5) - one of the most balanced matchups, the win will go to Atlanta in the last game...
Boston (2) - Chicago (7) - With Garnett injured Boston will have more difficulties, even so they will win, but Chicago has a chance... 4-3 to Boston
Orlando (3) - Philadelphia (6) - 4-2 or 4-3 to Orlando...

EAST
Cleveland Cavaliers vs Detroit Pistons 4-0
Boston Celtics vs Chicago Bulls 4-1
Orlando Magic vs Philadelphia 76ers 4-0
Atlanta Hawks vs. Miami Heat 2-4

WEST
Los Angeles Lakers vs Utah Jazz 4-2
Denver Nuggets vs New Orleans Hornets 3-4
San Antonio Spurs vs Dallas Mavericks 3-4 (Nowitzki bias)
Portland Trail Blazers vs Houston Rockets 1-4

Amazing how my predictions match Matt's :)

Amazing how my predictions match Matt's :)
You read my post before you posted your predictions, didn't you? :D :D

Seriously, I think the first round is pretty predictable this year. I think there are really only two series that are "in the air:" Portland/Houston and Dallas/San Antonio.

I think Houston has a clear advantage, but Portland is just so young and "jumpy" that they could give an upset.

Dallas/San Antonio is a tough, tough call. Basketball rarely comes down to one player (the NBA does at the end of games a lot), but I think this series will depend all on how SA defends Dirk. If they can deny the ball to Dirk, San Antonio will win.

SAS - DAL series

SAS - DAL series

Dirk vs Duncan

Kidd vs Parker

Nothing like a good old fashioned Spurs - Mavs rivalry and a good way to cap off the ending decade. Regardless who wins, I'm going to enjoy this... for old time's sake like the 2003 DAL - SAS series where Steve Kerr's shooting bailed out the Spurs. But in 2006, Dirk and the mavs got the better of the Spurs as Nowitzki's shooting prowess nailed the Spurs. What memories.:D

I'm looking at Parker showing Kidd how advantageous young legs are. Back in 2003, Kidd's plays owned Parker but SAS won it over the nets.

My Predictions:

EAST
Cleveland Cavaliers vs Detroit Pistons 4-0 (The Pistons r in the worst of conditions at the curren moment)
Boston Celtics vs Chicago Bulls 4-1 (Pierce, Allen, and Rondo will step up their performance big time without Garnett)
Orlando Magic vs Philadelphia 76ers 4-1 (How will the Sixers contain Howard and limit Orlando from 3PT range?)
Atlanta Hawks vs. Miami Heat 2-4 (Wade will carry the whole team on his shoulders as expected)

WEST
Los Angeles Lakers vs Utah Jazz 4-1 (The Lakers will be focused, but do have to take into consideration that the Jazz r really tough to beat on their home court).
Denver Nuggets vs New Orleans Hornets 4-3 (really tough to predict. Smith has been great recently for the Nuggets and along with Melo and Billups they have good experience. If the Hornets do win Chris Paul will be the main reason for this as expected)
San Antonio Spurs vs Dallas Mavericks 4-3 (I have a gut feeling that Duncan is hiding something for the playoffs since his stats were very mediocre this regular season. Never rule out Dirk as well. That's why this will be the series to watch in the first round)
Portland Trail Blazers vs Houston Rockets 2-4 (Blazers have a very descent team but Yao and the Rockets will prevail. Scola will be one of the main X-factors for the Rockets)

here's mine..

here's mine..

EAST:

cleveland-detroit : 4-1 - lebron's too harsh for detroit.
boston- chicago : 4-2 - but bulls has prayers yet to be answered.
orlando- phila : 4-0 - howard will break the board.
atlanta-miami : 3-4 - i love to see heat winning! hehehe

WEST:

lakers- utah : 4-3 - jerry will not let his boys surrender easily.
mavs- spurs : 4-2 - spurs will cherish its good old days.
denver- hornets : 2-4 - chauncey will develop fatigue, has to play 48mins.
houston-portland : 3-4 - hard to predict. houston will be more erratic.

Cavs-Pistons - Cavs in 5.
Pistons are good for one game, but this will be over quickly. Sad to see the run end but there's no way the Pistons win.

Celtics-Bulls - Celtics in 6
No Garnett, plus the Bulls becoming dominant at home means the Bulls snag a few wins.

Magic-Sixers - Orlando in 5
Neither team's looked very impressive down the stretch, but I'm not sure anyone on Philly can really hamper Dwight.

Hawks-Heat -Hawks in 7
Hawks are the better team, but Wade's the best player on the court by far. I think homecourt will be the only difference here.

Lakers - Jazz - Lakers in 6
The Lakers are in no danger of losing this series the Jazz can not win on the road. That said winning in Salt Lake City is no cake walk, and the Jazz will make them work for it.

Nuggets - Hornets - Nuggets in 7
This is going to be a war, and it wouldn't surprise me if the Hornets won. Billups vs. CP3 will go a long way toward saying who wins.

Spurs - Mavs - Spurs in 6
Both teams are past their glory years, though they still have the guys that can dominate a game. I'm going with Spurs championship experience to carry them through.

Blazers - Rockets - Blazers in 6
The Blazers are back, and might just be my darkhorse in the West. They're young, entertaining as hell, and don't have enough experience to fear anyone. The Rockets...those poor Rockets have their streak continue, least they can't blame this one on Tracey. I think we'll call this Brandon Roy's coming out party.

Let the games begin! :D

Bulls-Celtics 105-103 (Final score after OT  who would have imagined!).
Oh my God! what a game and what a performance by Derrick Rose:eek:!!
(Definitely ROY)

Great way to start the Playoffs, Boston and Chicago going to overtime!

Rose has been scary good.

Bulls get the win. Wow it'll be interesting to see how the Celtics try to bounce back.

what a game and what a performance by Derrick Rose:eek:!!

He was simply amaizing! 36pts, 11asts. he is the first player to tie karim abdul jabbar's record: most points scored by a rookie in his first playoff game.
T.Thomas had some crucial points in OT and J.Noah added 17rebs. The bulls are really dangerous!!!

Cavs-Pistons 102-84 Final score. Lebron had a great game (38 points, 8 rebound, 7 assists). Rodney Stuckey was the best for the Pistons (20 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists).
