You can't have a season without any injuries  :D

Lets kick things off with Boozer's freak injury just a couple of days ago since it's quite significant:

Boozer to miss two months after having hand surgery

Posted Oct 5 2010 5:20PM

CHICAGO (AP) -- Chicago Bulls forward Carlos Boozer had surgery Tuesday on his fractured right hand and is expected to miss two months.

Boozer, the Bulls' major offseason acquisition, fractured the fifth metacarpal bone in his hand Saturday. He said he fell over a bag at his home.

The 6-foot-9 Boozer spent the previous six years with Utah and averaged 19.5 points and 11.2 rebounds last season before joining the Bulls in a sign-and-trade deal.

A two-time All-Star, Boozer has a five-year deal worth about $75 million. Taj Gibson is expected to replace him in the starting lineup.

The team said the procedure was performed by Dr. John Fernandez and Dr. Mark Cohen in Chicago.

Wade suffers hamstring injury, leaves preseason opener

Posted Oct 5 2010 11:37PM

MIAMI (AP) -- Dwyane Wade's preseason debut ended quickly with an injured right hamstring, and it could be a couple weeks before he's back running with the Miami Heat.

Wade left Miami's exhibition opener against the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night just 3 minutes, 17 seconds into the contest, headed to the locker room and did not return. He watched the game while getting treatment, as new teammates LeBron James and Chris Bosh carried the Heat to a 105-89 victory.

"I just felt it pull," Wade said. "I knew automatically it was a pulled hamstring. It was a little sore coming into the game the last couple days of practice and stuff, so I tried to do everything to make it go away. But it happens."

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said Wade would be re-evaluated in about a week. Wade suggested it might take as many as two weeks to get completely over the problem.

Either way, there's time: Miami doesn't play a game that counts until visiting Boston on Oct. 26.

"As a team, everyone has to pick it up," James said.

Wade's injury was the darkest spot of the night for the Heat, who had a sellout crowd of 19,600 pack into the arena to see the long-awaited debut of the star trio of Wade, James and Bosh, Olympic teammates who won a gold medal, now Heat teammates looking to hoist the gold NBA championship trophy.

Wade was introduced last, the crowd roared, and did so again when he hit a jumper for his first - and only - shot of the night. Wade felt a twinge while guarding Richard Hamilton, and knew immediately the pain wasn't going away quickly.

"It was a preseason game, but the atmosphere was great," Wade said. "There was a lot of excitement about the opportunity to see this team play together, and they only saw me play for three minutes. It's fine. I think Miami's seen me play for a long time and they'll get a lot of time to see the 'Big 3,' as they say, our team play together."

James said he told Wade that if the Heat were going to have an injury, he'd prefer to have it now than later - and Wade obviously agreed.

Bosh has dealt with hamstring issues before and offered Wade advice.

"You just have to treat it delicately," Bosh said, "and make sure you respect it."

Wade quipped at times in the last couple days that fans should "get there early" for the preseason debut, a suggestion that he didn't plan to play that many minutes.

In no way, Wade insisted, was that said to indicate he anticipated the hamstring to be a serious concern.

"I didn't think they'd really have to get there early to see me play three minutes," Wade said, laughing. "So watch what you say."

Bad luck for the Heat to start off the preseason :(. Hope he'll be fully recovered by the time the season starts on October 26.

Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant is mum on the status of his index finger and his knee troubles are still evident. Bryant told the LA Times that his knees are "60-80%" ready.

While Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum told the Los Angeles Lakers training staff that his physician have given him a December playing status, while the LA Lakers physicians evaluated a mid-November return.

Detroit Pistons:

Jonas Jerebko out 5-6 months due to a raptured Achilles Tendon.

Terrico White out 2 months due to a broken bone on his right foot.

Pistons' Jerebko, White suffer preseason injuries

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- The Detroit Pistons were hit hard by injuries in their first preseason game.

Detroit forward Jonas Jerebko tore his right Achilles' tendon and guard Terrico White broke his right foot in Tuesday's night exhibition in Miami.

The team didn't know Wednesday afternoon how long Jerebko and White would be out because both were being evaluated by doctors.

Jerebko's injury hurts a team that was already lacking post players. The 6-foot-10 Swede played in a team-high 80 games, averaging 9.3 points and six rebounds last year as a rookie.

White was drafted in the second round with the 36th pick overall this year. The 6-foot-5 guard averaged 15 points last season as a sophomore at Mississippi.

Kings' Dalembert out 4-6 weeks with groin strain

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Sacramento Kings center Samuel Dalembert could be out for six weeks with a strained left groin muscle, likely forcing him to miss his first regular-season game in five years.

Dalembert underwent an MRI on Tuesday, and the Kings said their offseason acquisition will be out four to six weeks.

Dalembert has played in 354 consecutive games, the NBA's third-longest active streak. He spent his first eight NBA seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Dalembert still hasn't played in the preseason for the Kings, who acquired him last June in a trade for Andres Nocioni and Spencer Hawes.

Dalembert's injury could create more playing time for rookie DeMarcus Cousins, the Kings' selection with the fifth pick in the draft.

LeBron sits out game with tight hamstring

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- The Miami Heat held out LeBron James against the New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday night, saying his right hamstring remained tight from an exhibition game a night earlier.

The Heat initially said James was cramping when he left Tuesday night against Russian team CSKA Moscow and that he was not expected to play in New Orleans.

With James sidelined, fans who showed up at the New Orleans Arena were unable to see two of Miami's biggest stars. Dwyane Wade has been out since straining his right hamstring in the Heat's first preseason game. Both were on the bench in warmups.

http://www.nba.com/2010/news/10/13/lebron-james-out.ap/index.html

Staying healthy will be the most important issue for the Heat this season. Bosh I remember was playing with a bothered heel for most of last season. Wade has been battered with injuries the last few years while Lebron still reamins the healthiest player amongst the 3 superstar "trio" combo.

Arenas has real injury, leaves after 3 minutes

WASHINGTON (AP)—In his first game at the Verizon Center in more than nine months, Gilbert Arenas(notes) was gone in a flash.

Two nights after he admitted faking a left knee injury, Arenas played just three minutes before exiting the Washington Wizards’ 96-88 preseason loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night with a strained right groin.
Arenas didn’t start, but made the most of his brief return.

He didn’t attempt a shot, but had three steals, a rebound, an assist and a blocked shot. Arenas teamed with John Wall(notes) on some neat passes in his first home game since being suspended for bringing guns to the locker room.

“He was good while he was in there,” Washington coach Flip Saunders said.
Arenas was gone by the time the locker room was open, and Saunders wasn’t terribly vocal in defending him.
Saunders fined Arenas for the fake injury Tuesday. Before Thursday’s game, he wasn’t eager to revisit the incident.
“That’s over with. I’m not going to get into it,” Saunders said. “I’ve done enough.”
Saunders contended that Arenas had been a loyal player during training camp.
“He’s been with us. Whatever we’ve asked him to do, he’s basically done,” Saunders said.
After the game, Saunders said he had no clue how much time Arenas might miss, nor did he any express any reaction when asked about the abrupt exit.
Arenas, who hadn’t played a home game since Jan. 2, before his 50-game suspension and felony conviction, entered with 7:05 to play in the first quarter to tepid applause from the sparse home crowd and seemed to savor playing with Wall before asking out of the game three minutes later.
Saunders decided to team Nick Young(notes)—who played well Tuesday in Arenas’ place—with Wall, the overall No. 1 draft choice. Saunders said he wasn’t penalizing Arenas.
“Nick played really good and I wanted to reward him for how he played,” Saunders said.
Drew Gooden(notes) led Milwaukee (3-1) with 25 points, while Carlos Delfino(notes) had 19.
Andray Blatche(notes) led Washington (3-2) with 17 points and Wall had 15 points and 11 assists in 38 minutes.
Wall and Arenas seemed to play well in their brief time together.
“We have a great time playing every time we’re on the court,” Wall said. “I hope he gets back as quick as possible (but) I hope he takes his time.”
Bucks coach Scott Skiles didn’t play Andrew Bogut(notes), who has yet to appear in the preseason. Bogut has recovered from a gruesome fall in a game last season when he dislocated his elbow, sprained his wrist and broke his hand,
Skiles said Bogut was ready to play and should appear Saturday in Memphis, and while he’d like to limit his center’s minutes, he doesn’t think he’s injury-prone.
“He’s no more likely to get hurt than anyone on our team,” Skiles said.
NOTES: Washington was without F Al Thornton(notes) (left ankle) and F/C Sean Marks(notes) (hamstring). Milwaukee didn’t dress F Jon Brockman(notes) (left ankle), G/F John Salmons(notes) (right knee) and F Corey Maggette(notes) (left ankle). … Skiles and Bucks rookie F Larry Sanders(notes) were both assessed technical fouls. … The Wizards waived G Kevin Palmer(notes).

Vujacic suffers concussion at practice, out indefinitely

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) -- Los Angeles Lakers guard Sasha Vujacic is out indefinitely with a concussion after teammate Lamar Odom's elbow inadvertently hit him in the face.

Vujacic was hit just below his left eye Thursday during practice with the two-time defending NBA champions.

The Slovenian guard will be re-evaluated Friday.

Vujacic averaged 2.8 points and 1.2 rebounds in 67 games with the Lakers last season, his sixth with the club.

He has been competing with Shannon Brown during the preseason for playing time behind Kobe Bryant.

Ouch! There's nothing like an elbow to the face/head

Cavaliers' Jamison, Parker miss exhibition game

Posted Oct 16 2010 6:54PM

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Cleveland forward Antawn Jamison and swingman Anthony Parker missed the Cavaliers' exhibition game Saturday night against CSKA Moscow because of injuries.

Both were injured Thursday night against San Antonio. Jamison sprained his left knee while Parker sprained two fingers on his right (shooting) hand. Jamison was sidelined previously with tendinitis in the knee.

The Cavaliers, who are adjusting to playing without superstar LeBron James, have been battling injuries throughout training camp. Guard Mo Williams (groin) and forward/center Anderson Varejao (ankle, personal reasons) have yet to play in a game.

The Cavaliers play their final two exhibition games next week. Cleveland coach Byron Scott said Varejao could return Tuesday night against Philadelphia, a game that will be played in Cincinnati. Williams, who started practicing this week, might play Thursday night against Milwawukee in Columbus.

Scott isn't sure if Jamison and Parker will play until the season opener against Boston on Oct. 27.

Bobcats F McGuire could miss up to six weeks
Posted Oct 17 2010 1:46PM

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- The Charlotte Bobcats could be without reserve forward Dominic McGuire for up to six weeks because of a stress fracture in his left shin.

McGuire first experienced pain following a scrimmage early in training camp. He appeared in three exhibition games and averaged 1.3 points before an MRI revealed the extent of the injury.

The Bobcats announced McGuire's status Saturday night after their preseason game against the Detroit Pistons.

They signed McGuire to a one-year, $900,000 free-agent deal in July after he played with Washington last season.

McGuire joins guard Shaun Livingston, center Kwame Brown and forward Eduardo Najera in being sidelined with injuries for Charlotte in the preseason.

Suns' Childress breaks finger against Warriors

PHOENIX (AP) -- Phoenix Suns forward Josh Childress broke his right index finger in Tuesday night's exhibition victory over the Golden State Warriors.

The Suns say Childress will have no basketball activity for a week, then will be re-evaluated. He was injured when he was fouled on a drive to the basket with 7:54 left in the game. He left the contest but returned with 5:39 to go and played the rest of the way.

The Suns acquired the rights to Childress in an offseason sign-and-trade deal with the Atlanta Hawks. Childress played the last two seasons in Greece after a contract dispute with the Hawks. The former Stanford star was the sixth pick overall in the 2004 draft.

Heat's Miller to see hand surgeon for right thumb injury

MIAMI (AP) -- A freak injury to Mike Miller's right thumb is expected to keep one of the NBA's top 3-point shooters sidelined for several weeks, yet another blow to the injury-prone Miami Heat.

Miller was injured when the thumb on his shooting hand got tangled in a teammate's jersey during practice Wednesday. The Heat have not revealed a formal diagnosis or possible recovery time.

Coach Erik Spoelstra said before Thursday night's preseason game in Atlanta that MRI results on Miller's thumb were not yet available.

LeBron James said he talked with Miller, who is disappointed.

"He's down," James said Thursday night. "Of course he is. This is an exciting season. It's an exciting season for himself. When you work out a lot in the offseason and get prepared for the regular season, and you have a freak accident happen like that, he's down. You really can't understand what he's going through right now."

James said he is optimistic Miller will return for the majority of the season.

"We know how important Mike is to this team, but he's going to have an opportunity to get some rest, get his body healed up and he'll be back for the long run," James said.

Miller is not on the trip with the Heat, a swing that concludes with the preseason finale in Tampa, Fla. on Friday against Orlando. His injury is expected to be reviewed by hand surgeon Dr. Andrew Weiland, a New York-based specialist who regularly treats professional athletes.

Miller had been starting at shooting guard during the preseason in place of Dwyane Wade, who has missed all but the first 3:17 of the exhibition schedule with a strained right hamstring. Miller was averaging 9.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 24.4 preseason minutes per game with Miami.

Wade, who has also been dealing with a trial that'll decide custody of his two young sons, is expected to resume working out with teammates on Sunday - just two days before Miami opens the regular season in Boston. He's expected to be in Tampa for the preseason finale against the Magic, but will not play.

Oddly, there was a slew of good news for the Heat on injury fronts Thursday. Guards Mario Chalmers (ankle) and Eddie House (shoulder) were deemed healthy enough to play against the Hawks, and Wade has been cleared for full contact drills, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said.

But the Miller situation may overshadow all that news.

Miller signed a $25 million, five-year contract with Miami this summer. He was the NBA's second-best shooter from 3-point range - 48 percent - last season and came to the Heat in large part because of the opportunities he could get playing alongside Wade, James and Chris Bosh.

"It's unfortunate," James said. "Like Coach Spoe said, no one said it was going to be easy and no one said we weren't going to have adversity throughout the season. I mean, when you have injuries, the best thing about it is you have an opportunity for someone to step up."

For his career, Miller has averaged 13.7 points on 46 percent shooting, 41 percent shooting from 3-point range.

With Miller sidelined, the Heat will likely use James Jones - another top 3-point shooter - even more at small forward than perhaps originally planned.

Wolves' Webster has MRI on back, will miss preseason finale

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Minnesota Timberwolves swingman Martell Webster will travel to Milwaukee for the preseason finale because of a back injury.

The team says Webster had an MRI and they are awaiting the results of a second opinion before they make a diagnosis.

Webster says he was injured in the playoffs last year with Portland. Coach Kurt Rambis said after practice on Thursday that there is more concern now after things didn't improve in the last day or two.

Webster is averaging 12.3 points per game in the preseason. He did not play against Indiana on Tuesday.

The Timberwolves open the regular season next Wednesday against the Sacramento Kings.
