NBA Draft 2009

This draft must be really weak if Rubio is projecteded as number two.Not that he's a bad player but with a high lottery pick you're expectin a guy who can contribute right away not a project who will take years to fully develop

The 2009 draft will be one of the weakest in recent memory. In my mind, Griffin is the only immediate impact player. Thabeet will be a 'project' as well Rubio. James Hardin from Arizona State, who disappeared in the 2009 NCAA tournament, is rated in the top 5.

Rubio is being overhyped, in my view. I'm not sure that he has the physical quickness to stay in front of an average NBA point guard. Defensively, he looks like a real liability. You cannot 'learn' quickness, and it may be that no matter when he gets to the top league, it will always be a weakness.

He is more than a project... He is the present. He plays against developped guys. He helps to win games in ACB... Do you consider Navarro a project?

Re watch USA vs Spain...

do you consider Navarro an nba level player?did you watch him last season?

I did. Do you consider a 11 ppg + 3 rpg + 2 apg rookie player not good for the NBA? Then currently half of them should leave the league now.

i remember wizards fans havin really big expectations for Navarro,as one of the best european players and blamin their board when they gave his rights to grizzlies.I don't think he lived up to the hype. His stats may look solid but they didn't have any impact and what i saw with my eyes in quite a few grizzlies games i watched, was a chucker. He was takin too many 3 pointers as his other aspects of his game were ineffective in nba level.

He was a rookie

He played on a team that was tanking. Horrible situation for a player who wants to do something and is used to playing serious basketball.

Poor Blake Griffin, barring a miracle he's gonna get drafted by the Clippers that's like a career death sentence. :(

Ricky Rubio isn't overrated, but is overhyped. Well, US media pump him way too much.

1. He wasn't their first or second option. He didn't run Memphis' offense.
2. He was a rookie.
3. It's harder for international PGs and SGs to succeed in the NBA.
4. Most important: Coach Iavaroni wanted him to shoot (only) threes, that was his primary task.
Look at Rudy in Portland, same situation, 3-point specialist, nothing more. I'd say it is up to coach, not to them.

BTW - What do you think why he came back to Spain and Barcelona after only 1 season?;)

News on Victor Claver and Sergio Llull in last 10 days, 2009 draft related? Anybody?

I heard Ricky Rubio's agent that he doesn't want Rubio to play for OKC or Memphis, maybe because both teams are losing. But I seemingly remember Steve Francis though?
