Which are, now, the ten strongest national teams in america (south e north america)?

And that's probably the order I'd put them in. I might move Canada up a little, because they're a strong team with all their players. Same with Mexico. Unfortunately, there isn't much room to move them up, because the US, Argentina, Brazil, and PR are pretty much the tops.USA
Argentina
Brazil
Puerto-Rico
Venezuela
Uruguay
Canada
Mexico
Panama
Virgin Islands or Dominican Republic

You're not going to beat Canada there. How many peanuts they sold in a game ?
Good question.when was the last time brazil beated puerto rico's best squad?
I read s omewhere that Horford could join the team. If he does that would be a huge upgrade, not to mention if Villanueva also commited.Based on what ? Individual players ? Results of the last 10 years? 5 years ? How many peanuts they sold in a game ?
@Lewis: Just place DomRep on the top...they going to win it all...right ?![]()
3) Brazil, if they ever play at their level
4) Puerto Rico
5) Uruguay (mostly because of last two seasons)
6) Mexico, Dominican, Canada, Venezuela, Panama (can't really put anyone ahead of any other)
11) Virgin Islands

what has done Brazil to put them even with Puerto Rico?Brazil doesn't play defense and is always disappointing...PR is still suffering from the curse of 2004...call it even.

And since both teams matched levels of mediocrity, the edge goes to the team that was a Carlos Arroyo and a decent coach away from the olympics, the americas bronze medallist, the one who won the h2h serie against Brazil... Puerto RicoMatched Puerto Rico's level of mediocrity in recent competitions.
I think Uruguay has made huge progress since 2006, but their 2008 team was really good. Although Canadian NT roster has really improved these past two years, so i can make them share my 5th positionI don't see how you can have Uruguay ahead of Canada.
I thought so. Virgin Islands somehow performes better at Centrobaskets, but Dominican and Panamá are a much bigger threat at Americas' Tournaments (when they qualify). So that's my pick.VI maybe should be ranked a step higher based on Centrobasket results.
the americas bronze medallist
I was going to make a sarcastic comment about the meaningfulness of third place games but then I realized for most of PR's players the bronze medal from the TOA probably looked good next to the bronze medal from Centrobasket.
Brazil finished ahead of PR in the group play. So we'll call it even.
on the same year we got bronze in CentroBasket, we played Brazil (the same one that finished ahead of Puerto Rico group play) twice and beated them 97-75 and 111-107, including the bronze medal game.
I also could make a sarcastic comment about the 4th place finish Brazil had in the last South American Championship.
