brasil, croatia a litlle spain bec spain lost againist france before this is not first time:)

My vote was Croatia until tonight. Spain' elimination is one of the biggest surprise World Cup history. Nothing to say.

I shall not add Spain to the list of most disappointing teams in this tournament. I'm very happy about their elimination (tournament's bracket was just scoundrelly) but before this one game they played good. And I think that one bad game isn't enough to become a genuine 'greatly disappointing team'.

Shawshank, I understand your exaggerated patriotic feelings but if you try to think rationally for a moment then you would understand that sans US any team from the second bracket would be just whipped by any of the teams from the quartet Spain-France-Brazil-Serbia. Well, maybe, Lithuania and Slovenia have some decent chances against Brazil but that's not enough to view these two sides of the bracket as even. Hell, even Greece would be a heavy favourite against any of the Groups C&D play-off participants minus Team USA. Sad but true :)

Funny, but the same team made even less assists (12,6) in last Eurobasket and got a silver.
That Slovenian Eurobasket was just a bloody damned mess. I don't even want to talk in detail about it :) And that has something to do not only with the fact that Russian team (yet I must add that its roster was heavily depleted and coaching/management problems were just going over the top) was eliminated in the most shameful manner imaginable. In some ways it reminded me about 2010 WC where Turkey (for God's sake, Turkey! no offense for Turkish guys here but still...) were second only to USA.

Just look: Spain looses in play-offs to TP-led France which plays with 6 players rotation (and TP really makes sense for the Russian abbreviation of tupaya p***a), Italy looses to Ukraine in a game that matters, Greece wins against Spain in the second group stage but gets eliminated before the playoffs even started and, on top of that, one of the very worst Eurobasket's semifinals in recent history: Lithuania-Croatia. Don't get me wrong, both are solid teams but that's European semifinals, ffs, and both played just plain awful in the first group stage. All that tournament was such an illogical thing that it literally hurts.

P.S. By the way, I've always said that Kalnietis is a good PG with solid skills and impressive passing ability. Yet many Lithuanian posters were just repeating that I don't understand a shit about basketball as Mantas is a retarded ball-hog who can't shoot when his life depends on it. Maybe, his progress in Lokomotiv was impressive but right now almost anyone writes that you can't judge Lithuanian team too severely as they are playing without their most important player who is Mantas Kalnietis :)
P.P.S. On a serious note, maybe, Kazlauskas needs to take a blame for this Lithuanian team playing so unexcitingly. Lack of an experienced PG surely hurts this team a lot but I think that neither Seibutis nor Maciulis are playing up to their potential. And they are two of my favourite players from the current Lithuanian squad. Well, I mean 'players in their current form' because I remember times when Lavrinovic bros were among the very best European bigs.

Definitely Spain now!

Side note: while we talk of disappointments here i believe one quarter that can be considered the happiest bunch are the guys from BWIN (You know the FIBA sponsor :D)

I imagine millions was won by the sportsbooks (moneyline!) in this game!?

Spain is on top of the list no doubt!! France really knows how to play against Spain even without Parker!..

Did anyone bet that neither Spain or USA would appear in the finals? Can't imagine what the odds is like, I think more than 1 to 200. At least they are one step closer now!

To terorizer: Those brackets is not equally matched i dont even argue ofcourse it wasnt.A and B is way stronger than C and D....But we Lithuanians didnt do nothing, this was spain idea to put 2 diferent tournaments till final. We played by their rules. We are in top4 by rating,by team performances in last 8 years,so we were in same pocket with usa and spain and argentina we couldnt be in same group with them.WE played with those teams that system gave us.We lost our best player from eurobasket2013 3 days before start (that was big shock for the team and the fans) but that team still fought hard and showed character in critical moments and will be fighting till the end.You always are critical about our team and finding escuses why we once again made top4 ( it isnt hard to understand why) .We are not lucky to be here, luck has nothng to do with the fact that in second world champ in arrow we are in the semifinal.WE have many good battles with Spain,France,Serbia in the past and it never was one sided games. Some we won, some we lost.So if draw would put us in that side,we would still made quertefinal game and gave a fight there.WE always perform better than teams without character like brasil, croatia.I reapating we played with teams that system gave us,we wasnt choosing to whom to play.Blame the system but not try make fun of our results thank you.

It would be very interesting if Lithuania eliminates the USA in the semis :D

Spain for sure.. prior to that it was a toss up between croatia and puerto rico.. but more on croatia because puerto rico lost arroyo and vassallo.. but now hands down SPAIN is the disappointment.. almost to the same levels of La Furia Roja in the recent FIFA World Cup..

wasn't really expecting a gold.. losing in the semis may hurt.. but lossing in the round of 8 and on home soil and preparing enough with a FULL STRENGTH team.. really the most disappointing team.. and i will say this, even if USA loses to Lithuania in the Semis, Spain is still the most disappointing team in the FIBA World Cup..

and since Lithuania, France and Serbia WERE not expected to go to the Gold Medal match, the verdict is out..

SPAIN is the disappointment of the FIBA World Cup, how fitting for a host nation..

time to rebuild spain.. Marc, Rudy, Ricky, Llull, Serge and Claver are the only younger players around.. even Marc Gasol and Rudy Fernandez are turning 30's..

Pity we didn't come up with a better scheme to assure us a place in the finals. Maybe we forgot to actually place ourselves in the weakest side of the bracket. We're that bad at cheating, you know

Abrines, Díez, Hernángomez, Paulí, García, Yusta, Barreiro, Diop, Sima. Rodríguez is young, too. We have great young talents, we need a real coach.

That's true, it's time for rebuild. Younger generations have been quite successful, it's time they get their chance to shine. Other teams are getting used to how our current team plays and most games are either unwatchable slugfests or uncompetitive blowouts. It gets hard on the eye after a while. We may not be the top dog anymore, but at least the games will be entertaining. I just hope we don't get so bad we're reduced to gloating when some other team fails.

Spain is not a disappointment because they lost one game. I don't see it that way.

Before the Spain game, I would've said France. Now it has to be Croatia. They've really disappointed me. The other teams I never thought had a real chance to medal like I felt Croatia did. It disappointed me that France lost to Serbia but it's hard to be disappointed with a team that not only knocked off Spain but held them to so few points.
