Brandon Roy is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic surgery according to a team spokesman. Roy played only five games for the Timberwolves this season.

Thursday, November 22 at 10:50 p.m. ET by Mike Hoag

Multiple doctors have tried convincing Roy to retire due to an ongoing battle with arthritis in his knee, Roy said, according to Jason Quick of The Oregonian.

It's hard to keep track of how many operations Roy has had on his knees over the years, but this latest one is a result of the lingering arthritis that has advanced to Level III.

"Level IV," Roy said, "Is when you get a knee replacement."

Roy's quest for a comeback will likely end sooner rather than later. This latest surgery seems to be delaying the inevitable. The degenerative problem in his knee will eventually take away his ability to compete in the NBA.

Whether that's this year or in the not-so-distant future, Roy is playing on borrowed time.

The Timberwolves can't expect from Roy to play extensive minutes.... I say don't play him even if he supposedly recovers from surgery and wait till later on in the season and see if they are making it to the playoffs.... If they do make it to the playoffs then they should play Roy during the playoffs as he would be a great asset for them at that time... If not then play him the last few games of the season.... Anyways I do believe there is a very big opportunity that Roy will retire by next summer... How Portland's medical staff screwed Roy over with their bad decision making a few years back has forever affected his medical condition and there's nothing he can do about it unfortunately.

Brandon Roy has been practicing but in a no contact manner and is very limited. Roy told the press that retirement at this point is not in his plans.

He's done like many times before. Not sure why he is still forcing things. Got to love the passion but at some point you have to be smart and think about life.

And it's not like the Twolves need him. They are already capable in that SG-PG spot.

Guard Malcolm Lee is out indefinitely due with a knee injury and is without a timetable of return.

Ricky Rubio last night in a win against the Dallas Mavericks: 8 points and 9 assists off the bench in 18 minutes. Kevin Love was out with the flu.

Minnesota snapping the 12 game winning streak of the Oklahoma City Thunder by winning 99-93. Kevin Love with a double double of 28 points and 11 rebounds. Nikola Pekovic with also a double double of 24 points and 10 rebounds while JJ Barea off the bench with 18 points.

Minnesota Timberwolves president of basketball operations David Kahn stated that Kevin Love could miss several weeks due to the condition of his right hand. While Ricky Rubio is said to be on the mend after missing four games with back spasms.

Guard Malcolm Lee will miss the remainder of the season due to reconstructive surgery on his right knee and right side of the hip.

The Timberwolves need to start winning again so they can get over the 500 mark.

The Star Tribune reports that the Timberwolves intend to sign French forward / guard Mickael Gelabale, after the 10 Day contract of forward Lazar Hayward expires.

Actually leading the Bobcats today.

TWolves will collapse in the 2nd half though. Sucky team vs sucky team you always go with the sucky team playing at home.

Congratulations to Andrei Kirlineko, who was named Kirilenko Named 2012 FIBA Europe Men's Player of the Year.

But this is hardly the season that Kirilenko have imagined when he signed with Minnesota in his return to the NBA, Wolves has been struggling all season after a good off-season full of roster improvements. The team's chances have always hinged on K-Love's health. As for Love, it has been an off-year.

Kevin Love will undergo season ending arthroscopic surgery. The final nail in the coffin for the Timberwolves this season. After a good summer that saw a remarkable recovery rate from Rubio and acquisition of a solid supporting cast, a lot of GMs in the league pegged them to be playoff bound.

According to the owner, Glen Taylor, a major announcement is due for next week in regards to team ownership.

The Timberwolves have announced that former coach Flip Saunders has been signed to a long term deal as the team's president of basketball operations and a minority stake with the team's ownership.
