Milwaukee routs the 21-8 Hawks behind Jared Dudley's insane 10 of 10 (including a perfect 4 of 4 on 3pt shooting) and 4 steals! Johnny O'Bryant III gets the start and scores a career high 12 points as well.
Honestly good for him. I wish more players would consider whether they actually want to play basketball for a living or not. The problem is that the damage is done. Even if he never plays basketball again and can find another profession, he will always be the guy who made 11 million dollars a year and then decided he didn't want to play basketball, which is unfair but that's why you need to consider the question before you put your name into the draft and before you start playing in college even.
Since this is basically unprecedented, I wonder if Milwaukee will be able to receive an exception for this season?
Haha so that's what happened to him. McCants was great in college.Great point. I remember the case of Rashad McCants who told the Timberwolves then that his NBA career is just a hobby and his focus was producing beats. That didn't pan out for the journeyman then.
As for the exception, I remember Royce White and the Houston Rockets but White's contract was still counted on the team's active payroll.
That's a really smart plan IMO.
Bucks sign Jorge Gutierrez to a 10 day contract. We've all seen how good this kid can be this past summer so let's hope he gets a real shot.
This is something I wish more kids who are considering basketball above high school level would actually think about. First off, there's no guarantee. Look at Thomas Robinson, Harkless, and so many other guys who got drafted high and never got a real shot to see what they can be. Second, yes it's a possible road to riches and fame and everything you could ever think you want but it comes at the cost of your life. Your life will not be your own, neither will your face, your personality, your body, or anything else. You become a brand and property of everybody who wants a piece of you. You can't ever be yourself or speak your mind again unless you want to risk potential money and earning potential. It's all business, and it's very difficult to meet real people who will like you for you. The most important thing is though, that it's for life. Even if you only play a year, once you've played in the NBA, that is what you will always be known as, good or bad. I would hope that Larry Sanders doing something courageous like this will get players in high school or college to really consider these things and weigh the pros and cons before making such a huge life decision. "Don't forget the 'and'" is probably the best mindset a basketball player thinking about turning pro can have, because you're a person first and foremost.Larry Sanders: face up
