Milos Teodosic and the NBA

Teodosic doesn't want to go to the game. He is much like Bodiroga when it comes to terms of not caring for the NBA. Also, his poor athleticism and lazy work-rate would keep him on the bench for the rest of his career. Teodosic knows how to play defense but he doesn't want to. He is one the laziest Serbian players I have ever seen. He's not really as slow as some of you think. Look at him closely in games he knows how to burst when he wants to. Sure, he's not a speed demon like Markovic but he knows how to get around players with ease using his basketball IQ. However, in the NBA you are expected to run, run, run, and run. Coaches have no sympathy or respect for lazy players like Teodosic. Although, they may admire his game and incredible vision, at the same time, they don't think he is NBA worthy. I fully agree.
But every basketball player has respect for Teodosic. It is not a wonder why Iverson asked for Teodosic's autograph at the 2008 European Championships.

That year in NBA destroyed Macijauskas carrier. He got like 3 min per whole season to play. when scoring in Europe 40 ppg sometimes... i mean wtf. There were talks that there might be smth to do with racism because he was white dude from Europe.

There is quite a bit of evidence for this. Few like to talk about it, but a pattern is clear.

With 100% of the coaches in the NBA being American, I think it's bad idea for international players to join league. It's no secret that coaches prefer the American players over the international ones. And if they do rely on the international players, it's because those players were already established in the NBA.

NBA coaches have crazy turnover. They are usually the first ones blamed for a team not winning or at least performing up to expectations. Given that, don't you think that all NBA coaches simply want to put the group of players on the court who will win the most games thus elongating their tenures in the NBA (and the nice paychecks that come with it).

And your rationale for some international players doing well because 'those players were already established in the NBA' doesn't make any sense. How did those players get established in the first place? By performing over a long period of time and winning more playing time over their peers, be them American, European, Asian, whatever.

This whole argument seems ridiculous. It becomes more of an argument about how the NBA didn't treat so and so's favorite player well and give him a fair chance.

Players take time to adapt to the intricacies of another continent's b-ball rules. And some players just weren't made to play in the other league (see Wafer or Macijauskas)

So let's not make this another thread where we start bashing the another league's playing style, we have enough of those.

As a basketball fan and an American with more easy access to the NBA than to Euroleague or A1 games I would like to see Milos come over and see if his game would be able to adapt. I think it would.

I think Spanoulis666 made his most sophisticated and clever clone in "Justin in Az"...Well done.

teodosic was amazing against turkey. some assists were just unbelievable.

I hope he never goes to the NBA.

But I consider him as a good defender, especially when it's important.
P.S I'm uploading highlights from the game, and if I'm not finding the game-thread I'll put it here, because it includes a lot of Teodosic (and yet not everything)

He's great for a European player but he wouldn't succeed in the NBA due to lack of muscles and athleticism.. So I agree with you guys

I really love this type of typical European guards tho.. He was excellent today

Hi again from Istanbul,

As the game thread is close I'll put it here (better to watch it not embedded):

This is from the plays I filmed during the game.

p.s.
I have no idea for what the game topic was closed. Maybe some post were deleted, I don't know.

BS in his interview early this year he stated every player's dream is to play in the NBA someday, he said he would like to stay couple more years in Europe than he will try NBA league. Also there was some clubs like Rockets and Heat interested in him this year.

Surely every player want to go and play for NBA because of the contracts they can receive. Just look at Hidayet , do you think he could make a closer amount in Europe at all ? No way...

However i wish European players will not go to NBA and instead of valuing NBA , we europeans can find a way to improve Euroleague so it can gather more attention than NBA.

I hope Teodosic will not a mistake and go to NBA as i don't think he can success there. He is a great player but the athleticism level NBA requires is above Teodosic have. If he stays in Europe he can improve his game to a very high level. If he goes to NBA and sits on bench his improvement surely will take a huge hit.

P.S : I love watching NBA however i think NBA should change lots of rules. It is getting boring each other year.

I agree, but at the age of 23, Teodosic is already one of the best players in Europe if not THE BEST(questionable) but he is current vice MVP-EuroBasket and EuroLeague MVP.

Ivkovic is his coach now at Olympiakos and I really hope he can improve him further before he attempts the NBA. If he is a true competitor and basketball player he will challenge himself to his fullest potential and the only place that can do that is the NBA.

Teodosic can make it to NBA but he has to work on his defence skills.

Agreed.

Also, he has to lose some fat and gain some muscle.
He's not as slow as people think. Everyone thinks he's slow because they've never actually seen him run but he knows how he just doesn't want to becausehe's lazy
The lazist and most talented Serbian basketballer I have ever witnessed.

If he is determined and believes in himself which we already know he does :p
Then he will be able to make a decent NBA career. He is better than Jaric, Pavlovic, and some others so why couldn't he have a decent NBA career?

Probably will not be able to impact the NBA like Stojakovic but he can be a great player if he keeps improving.

Doesn't really need to go to NBA. He is very weak physically and defensively. He also is pretty much like a maestro, plays whenever he is in the mood :) Like in the Spain match he was crap the whole game and bam 3 pointer from 9 meters and they won the game.

I think he is gonna be the future of Serbia and its better off with him staying in Europe.

If he was to go to the NBA trust me they'd MAKE him play defense and they'd definitely put muscle on him and make him lose fat. That is what Americans are the best at. Physical presence.

I agree he's a very moody player but he's very young. You forget that he's only 23. Consistency comes with experience and age.

I mean at the age of 22 he was Vice MVP at Eurobasket and EUROLEAGUE MVP playing for the best team in Europe, arguably. I mean what more can he really accomplish in Europe? He can just go to different clubs and lead teams to Euroleague championships. If he's a real competitor and wants a real challenge then he'll go to the NBA but before he does he's got a lot more to learn before he fully develops his game. His basketball IQ is off the charts. Any team in the NBA would want a player like him in their squad believe me. I'm sure he's had offers and secret meetings/calls regarding his agent but I think even he knows he definitely not ready yet. I think at the age of 25 he will be though. Two years at Olympiakos with Ivkovic will do wonders for him.

Indeed, dont get me wrong i'm definitely not trying to make him look bad. He is an insane talent, probably the guy i like watching most in Europe with his slick style and 3-point shooting while on the drive :D

If he is to go to NBA though like you said , he needs to bulk up and get some muscle.

Needs work on controlling his emotions too...he's kind of a headcase.

Teodosic reminds me of three different players with non or unsucessfull NBA career: Jasikevicius, Papaloukas and Navarro.

He can try the NBA, make some cash and get back to Europe. That is all. He does not need that in my opinion.
