I liked only a few martial art movies, and they definitely belong to the category #4: Shaolin soccer and Kung Fu Hustle. Especially, the former....there are now 4 types of martial art movies IMO (with regards to fight scenes):
#1 the hardcore (e.g. Ong Bak)
#2 the artistic (e.g. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon)
#3 the funny (e.g. Rush Hour)
#4 the stupid (e.g. Kung Fu Dunk...). Unfortunately most nowadays belong to this category...
I don't know about the music, but I truly despised "Hero". As I said I don't like martial-art films anyway, but I wrote a post about this movie at imdb and got a million of furious replies from people and a warning from the administrators"HERO" isn't much of a martial arts film, but definitely one of my favorite Chinese movies ever. I think it's the music.
Now I really want to see what you wrote...and a warning from the administrators![]()
Now I really want to see what you wrote...Trust me you won't get a furious response from me... My guess is you hate the "message", no?

Seven Little Monks (2010, post-production)
Don't hate, martial arts films may be stupid at times but not nearly the torture associated with "chick flicks".I HATE martial arts movies with a passion.(IMO they're mostly for immature men with supresed aggresion/hormone issues shhh)
Anyone likes these? If so what are your favorite titles?
Of course trying to get a girl to understand MA films is as difficult as giving a cat a shower. But then, we can always carry this conversation to the stereotype threadOnly in my opinion of course.![]()
MA films are not all violent you know. In fact most are not bloody.well I can appreciate some scenes ...for the eye candy!!( before the eye candy becomes bloody battered and full of bruises.)![]()
