I watched the game and I was mainly focused on Halperin (and Smodis offcourse ;) ) Halperin made some nice plays, but I think he should get more responsibility in the game (and Bynum less). I know it's Maccabi and not Olimpija, but still. I was impressed with Eliyahu-great talent.

btw, Smodis-Andersen duo looks scary and CSKA is looking like a machine. Main candidate for EL title IMO.

81-90 to CSKA

The team still looks awful and far away from Maccabi we've used to see in last years. :o

I was not expecting much else in those games:
1. Maccabi because of those tournaments had no time to practice (very important for new team) - they don't have any combinations prepared - it's all improvisation and personal game. Jasaitis and Buford can be better if there were combinations freeing them for throws.
2. CSKA plays together in same roster for 1.5 years at least - some of players even more. But in second half they were not too much better than Maccabi.
And if not lack of experience of Bynum, Maccabi could tie the game or even win.
3. Games were by NBA rules - mostly disabling 3 pt shoots - percentage dropped drastically.
4. The infamous new NBA ball - Shak said it all...
5. Maccabi still waits for PF - Felix will join only next week. I already wrote that Nic needs PF to pass to (Arnold wasn't bad but still). Tal wasn't there. Derek was without practice for few days...
List can be long, but I am optimistic - wait for two months and Maccabi will be much better!

Indeed so. The scariest thing about it is that they also managed to get along quite well even without Andersen, and now they have him back...

Today my 5 faivorite players will be at the same court :)
I'm exited!

Eliyahu and Halperin, Nash, Diaw and Vijcic (he is at bad shape now, but I remember his good times)

If Maccabi had Noel Felix and healthy Tal Burstein (and two-three more weeks of practice) they could have not bad matchup against CSKA....
Fom what I've read Felix looks like more versatile player than Mace was. He's good blocker and while Baston is good blocker too, he's got not too much mass to sell (Felix is 16 kg heavier, while at the same 206 cm height)... Felix because of mass and speed seems better suited for defence - he's fast enough to guard SF and massive end strong enough to guard PF/C, and he has long distance shot (Mace made some spectacular three-pointers, but he's got no jump-shot...).
I would wait for end of the season for crowning....

Maccabi vs. Phoenix just about to begin now... Go Maccabi!!!

I'm really angry  That's not our Maccabi... Except Sharp and a couple of young guys, all others play like losers and it's a shame that they with yellow-blue jerseys

It's a shame Maccabi has fans like you....
It was 3rd game in 4 days - 48 min each, Maccabi just had no powers left in the second half! And those 3 games were not against Olympia Lubliana (with all due respect) but against european champions and two of NBA best teams!
And all those games after all are just friendlies! So stop histerics - Maccabi will be very good team in few weeks!

I don't know how old are you, but I support Maccabi more than 20 years. There were good and bad times in the team during those years, but it always was and will be one of the BIGGEST clubs in Europe. With all the respect to new coach Spahija and many new players who came some weeks ago to Tel Aviv to play in OUR team, they still didn't prove themselves to be called Maccabi. Of course, every club and even BIG club like MTA can lose a game, but three defeats in the row and more important for me thing - lack of motivation to fight, are bad news for many real Maccabists who care for the club. I still believe that Spahija and his new players will begin to understand what yellow-blue jerseys mean and they'll begin to fight for every ball. Time will say.

I support Maccabi for 19 years - it's just a litttle bit less than you.
And I also remember Maccabi in 90s - good times and bad times, and I remember Maccabi losing to Miami Heat in beginning of 99/00 season (actually they beat crap out of us) in TA - that year, with McDonald, Huffman and Parker, we got to Euroleague final in Saloniki. So, please, stop whining! It's only practice!
Actually I liked Maccabi playing last game (3 quarters of it for sure). After that it was obvious that 3 games (48 minutes each) in 4 days it's a bit much for them! And they played against one of the best offencive teams in NBA! And Arnold wasn't playing! And of course Tal and Noel still aren't there. I wasn't blindly looking for excuses - I just was thinking positive! Maccabi still have a lot of things to improve, and I do think all this tournament (and tour to NA coming) is not helping. (Not that Maccabi can cancel it now... Responcibilities of being big team in Europe...). But they do show signs that they will be good team - different, but good anyway! Just wait and see!
And I am sorry if I did hurt you, but I'm just sick of all whining in last summer and fall - "Noone can replace Parker", "Maccabi has worst team ever", etc.
I love Parker, mind you, but he's GONE! I love Sharas (obviously), but he's gone too. I have big place in my heart for Mace, but guess what? He's gone too! LET GO!
I keep telling here and on other forums and talk-backs - give the team the time and space - they will be good. And don't tell me they don't have a motivation to fight - they do and I saw it! Halperin and Eliyahu want to get to NBA, Bynum and Buford (probably) too. Green puts all his hearth on the court! Nicola seems as being frustrated by Mace leaving, but he's playing better in last games (yes in defeats he played better than against Bologna).
Jasaitis plays well (and in last game Maccabi started to use (finally) combinations to free him and Shason and Buford to score)!

And Spahija (he won us twice last year, remember?) and Derek don't have to prove anything to you or anyone else!

Read my posts again, because you wrote things I didn't say, about Derrick etc'.
As per your stupid personal attacks it seems you're in the age of Bar Mitzvah.

It seems that you're not immune to stupidity yourself... as your last post shows. And obviously you have problem with simple arithmetics as well - 19 is a bit more than 13... (and add to it, if you are able to, of course, (if not - use a calculator) some 20+ years...)

And seems that you can't read good as well - I sincerely apologized and there was no reason in hell to attack me personally! Obviously you can not be able to maintain cultured and argumented discussion - how typical...

I wasn't implying that you wrote that Derrik should prove himself, but you did wrote that Spahija (and new players) should prove themselves!

Spahija was a coach of National Croatian team . He won Maccabi twice last year! He needs to prove himself to bunch of whinies?

With all the critics we can have in respect to Bynum and Buford - they did play in NBA- may be not as long and as good as they wanted to - do they need to prove themselves to you? I don't think so. (They do need to learn and adjust, of course).

Jasaitis is player of Lithuanian national team (he was injured in the summer so he didn't play much and he's still young anyway) - I don't think he needs to prove anything to you - only may be to NBA scouts!

Maccabi is a great team - but seems that it's so much bigger than so many of its whining crying fans!
I remember fans like you asking to throw Parker away when he wasn't too good in beginning of his first season!
I see that today many of those who said Pini was arrogant and rude, now suddently fall in love with him and want him back, suddenly (after 3 losses to great teams) Spahija (which is real gentleman) is too soft and not good enough!

I guess even Kobi or MJ should have to prove himself to you...

I wrote in my post "it seems". See in dictionary what it means.

If you'll continue to attack me personally and to use that kind of behaviour you won't be welcomed here.

I don't need dictionary to understand English... it's my work language.
My behaviour is very nice till I am attacked personally... And even than I mostly choose to ignore irresponcible or rude or power abusing guys...

I just said it's a shame that Maccabi has fans like you (I've seen much much worse things written on this forum)and then (before you even asked) sincerely apologized.

You seemed fit to ignore it and attacked me in personal and rude way and when I reacted - as anyone would, you threatening me using your admin powers...

In any case, I refuse to be dragged any further in this "discussion" and will ignore any post of you from now on...

Please, stop personal conflict or continue it(if you so want) on private messages board:o
I think now Maccabi play not very well, but for us(Maccabi fans)it isn't right to panic at this moment.Because this NBA Europe Live tournament was only preseason games where Spahija saw his teams strong and weak sides.
All in all we will see real face of Maccabi when the Euroleague or Israel league season will start.:)

You are right - in all above...
That what I keep saying - we need to wait and see what Maccabi will look like in two weeks...
