is it true that Jeff Aubry leave Argentina to play in Uruguay?
He is now playing for Hebraica in Uruguay. He was released from Libertad, since he was a temporary replacement for Robert Battle.

Great work Alermac :)

Atenas lost its fifth consecutive game, something needs to change and I believe that something is going to be Coach Ligorria... The Good thing about last weekend games was the debut in the 2007/08 season of 17yearolder 2.07 Pablo Orlietti, taking over Mauro Bulchi garbage minutes

What's happened to Ben Hur? They were a great team. Now they've lost quite a few games. Do the have some injured players or something? Personally, I think they could find better imports than Battle and Brown.

Ben Hur is playing with a very youth team, due to budget problems if i'm not wrong. Like you said they were one of the best team in LNB recent history with Leo Gutierrez, Diego Garcia as stars and Lamas as coach. Anyway they have some very promising youths.

In others news Atenas de Cordoba the most important team in Argentinian Basketball history has lost its sixth straight game which is the worst start ever for the team. Coach Ligorria resigned and Carlos "Caco" Bualo is now the new coach.

As Jokinen said, financial problems led to BH's fall from greatness. After the 05/06 season they lost their whole starting five (Legaria, García, Stanton, Gutiérrez and Osborne) and replaced them with cheaper players and promising young players recruited by Julio Lamas. That new team reached LNB quarters and LSB semis. And now they gave more minutes to their kids (Machuca and Lockett especially)

-Ariel Eslava signed in Gimnasia, which released Chris Jackson.
-Atenas replaced coach Ligorria with Carlos Bualò (LSB 2007 champion with Libertad)
-Quilmes signed Antwon Hall.

That's a pathetic situation. I feel sorry for Ben Hur's fans. I'm surprised that they have financial problems because I think Ben Hur doesn't have a soccer team, so they don't have to waste money there.

Actually, Ben Hur has a soccer team playing in Argentinean second division league, but the problems don't come from there. Ben Hur, like many clubs from that area, is not just a club but a mutual institution that provides health care, social security and basic banking services for its members. A couple of years ago, the mutual went bankrupt as much of the people's savings disappeared (i think the issue is being investigated). The sports teams have survived, but the mutual was believed to be one of those teams' main sponsors.

Amazing... he is just 18 years old. and is averaging 11.3 ppg 2.2 apg and 1.2 rpg in 25.9 mpg, right now I don't remember another 18 yearolder playing like that in the recent years.

Edit:I have to name Nicolas Aguirre who played with Machuca for the U19 NT in the last U19 WC as another great surprise in this 2007/08 season. Aguirre is averdaging 11.7 ppg 2.1 rpg 1.9 apg and 1.9 spg in 25.2. He is 19 Yold though

I can't remember any 18 or 19 year olds with such numbers in LNB since Manu Ginóbili, Nocioni, Scola or Jasen...

Other news:
-Belgrano released Tim Jones and Gabriel Domínguez; signed local idol Carlos Colla (41 years old) and Senegalese center Ya Ya Dia.
-Gimnasia signed center Anthony Knox.

Ya Ya Dia played at the University of Georgetown, the great "farm of centers," which produced NBA centers like Patrick Ewing, Dikembe Mutombo, Michael Sweetney, Othella Harrington, Alonzo Mourning and Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje. Unfortunately, Ya Ya Dia never played got to the level of those other players, but he is nevertheless very talented. He's a bigtime shot-blocker and rebounder, just like those other Georgetown players.

Ya Ya Dia has played in all over the world, most recently in Mexico. He's also played in Turkey, Israel, Uruguay, Italy, Jordan, Australia, the US, and Russia. This is actually his third time in Argentina: in '98 he played for Regatas San Nicolas, and in '01 he played for Quilmes Mar del Plata.
