Certainly a case for the GSWs. He was playing the entire time in a fairly weak conference, makes just 43% of his fga and shoots 34% from three. He cant even take a role for a team in FCL. He is a case for Nevezis for the start and this being 22 year old.

He literally shoots 36,1% now. You should learn to accept being wrong. He'll be very good EL player. You missed with tons of your projections, but you hate for Marciulionis is special, IDK why it's the case :D Anyway, some still even see some NBA pedigree in him. I just want him to be good EL play maker. He will be somewhere between Walkup and Calathes in terms of impact.

I am not wrong, you will realize it when he is back in Europe.

And 36% is only for his home games. Away he shoots just 32%.

36 is his season total games %. Anyway, the point is he has been shooting 41% in his last 20 games. He made huge strides this season via his shooting.

No, you will be proved wrong. Marciulionis is tough as nails, he doesn't turn the ball over, his slashing game polishing as well as shooting, he always been a great defender and he is one of rare fundamentally sound pass first PGs. It's like a dying breed. His transition to PRO will be smooth. He looked good in reserve NT.

Well see.

LOL Zags fans are crying that Marciulionis was named a player of the year of WCC :) Way to go, previously players like Delly, Landale, Pangos and so on received this award.

D. Giedraitis + Marciulionis = next best defensive pure guard duet in Europe, absolutely deadly on ball defense.

So Jakucionis has offers from top NCAA teams, top EL clubs. I really hope he won't choose NCAA and won't warm the bench for first year and play slow basketball. It's not for him. I agree with Purlys. He loves uptempo and he loves aggression. NCAA would be a cancer for him. IMO, he should stay in ACB and play uptempo basketball at which he is really good. In my opinion for him it would be the best to be loaned. 18yo guy playing in ACB with a good role would be money for him. Or even he could actually play for Lietkabelis already. It's less likely though. I doubt Barca is interested in this decision and wants him to stay in Spanish league (which soon will give him a local player status) and this style of basketball. The most disappointing scenario would warming the benching either in NCAA or Barca's team. He's ready for PRO action.

Next steps ANGT finals and U18, but maybe also appearance in reserve NT. If Maksvytis will unleash that, at least there's a little plus for him. Otherwise what's the point of reserve NT if can't test there the biggest talents of LTU?

I personally not that sure that Kasapras is better built for EL than NBA as his first coach expressed. He is both, ISO and team player. Not like Marciulionis who is primarily team player. So wide court would be beneficial for Jakucionis who has very fun slashing and shooting profile. In EL he would be good too, but I think NBA offensively fits him even better. We'll see.

The MVP was Kasparas Jakucionis, in his second appearance in a qualifier. Had his best game in the final, but was pretty consistent throughout the tournament with the way he made plays for himself and others. A point guard with great size that doesn’t commit many errors and can score inside and out while keeping his teammates involved is not easy to find at this age. And that is why Jakucionis is one of the most intriguing prospects in Europe right now. Playing just below 25 minutes a game, his stat line is even more impressive: 17.0 points per game (66.7% from two and 30.4% from three, plus 100% on almost 7 attempts from the free-throw line per game), 7-5 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 2.2 steals. His rim finishing was elite in Belgrade, due to his great use of decelerations and ability to adjust his body in the air. Jakucionis is such a composed guard, never looking to force and selecting the timings of his penetrations well. The way he plays pick and rolls and finds teammates rolling or waiting on the perimeter for their opportunity can’t be overlooked as well and, although he didn’t shoot the ball as well as in other occasions, he didn’t hesitate. He took the shots he had to and those are great signs. His defense flew a bit under the radar, but he was as aggressive and difficult to leave behind as always. His reach outs in particular were great.

Marciulionis takes down Gonzaga and Gaels wins WCC Tournament first since 2019. The player of the year award is totally deserved. Dude delivered both in semis and final (13pts, 8 assists). This individual award is first meaningful award since he won everything in NKL being 17yo (best young player, best PG etc.). So far his best individual recognition and not the last. He also won WCC tournament's outstanding player award. Dude's has a low dribble, tons of moves bag, he provided elite body control finishing around the basket and he has that fundamentally sound facilitation game + elite bulldog defense. He's tough and athletic. This is combination that you would be looking for years, specially if he also shoots consistently and he made huge strides towards that this year. Some guys can't defend (Jokubaitis, Topic and even Nunez to certain extent), some guys can't shoot (Giddey), Marciulionis might pack everything at the end of the day.

Here's highlights from semis - https://twitter.com/EHoopsScouting/status/1767576232772718863

And here's defensive presence that I want to see in NT (final game) - https://twitter.com/saintmaryshoops/status/1767730279828062708

Jakucionis in Nike Hoop Summit game. That's like being under the glass literally. Scouts say stacked World team, interesting if Jakucionis can standout in this environment too.

Marciulionis among top 50 March Madness players. Gaels has third best rating in NCAA and Marciulionis is the main reason as by far the best defender. I wonder if he could win DPOY of NCCA.

49. Augustas Marčiulionis, G, St. Mary’s

Son of Šarūnas, Augustas was named the WCC Player of the Year in the Gaels run to the conference championship, only the second time in the last 11 years that a team not named Gonzaga claimed the title. His defensive chops are well known, but he’s developed into a fantastic and versatile scorer over the season. If the Gaels are to make it into the second weekend for the first time in nearly 15 years, Augustas will be the main reason why. — AW

So after all those praises real pressure game came and they lost to unknown underdog team that never ever have won ncaa playoofs games before ... Marciulionis managed to score even 10pts shooting lousy 33% from the floor in 30min playing other youngsters

Oh yeah he is ready for Puerturico emotional hell and olympic games facing euroleague and nba guards :)

Now you're cherry picking. Last year in March Madness Marciulionis saved Geals and won them a first PO game. He was good in the second too. He wasn't entirely terrible in this game wither. 10pts and 8 assists. He turned the ball over too much though. IMO, that's very useful experience. You have to fail first to succeed later. Marciulionis came to this game as No.1 guy of his team generally. It could be pressure, it could be random bad game. Most importantly previously he showed he had it when Gaels won the WCC tournament and he was the MVP. Also in the regular season Marciulionis drained game winner three against Gonzaga too.

Was it meh game? Sure. Does it reduce Marciulionis massive season? Only haters could think so. Good experience. He's in double digits in 3 Martch Madness games. Tubelis BTW failed in March Madness much more, but that doesn't make him a bad player.

Anyway, I don't particularly like 3 months off now. Marciulionis needed a lot of playing time to get it going. 3 months off might not be good for him. I hope Maksvytis will select him to reserve NT together with Jakucionis (if possible) and later will invite him to the main camp too. Just give him a chance and see how he fairs with PROs now.

Damn, but that was one intense game. From extended highs it's pretty obvious what Grand Canyon offered extreme intensity defensively and they seemed to be more athletic, specially under the boards. So active and tough defensively, Gaels this time wasn't ready for this. I think winning WCC for the first time in 11 years and taking down Gonzaga kinda made them sleepy and not so hungry for the March Madness. But neverheless Gaels seems to always lack athleticism and they have to provide great shooting games to overcome the opponents. Nevertheless Marciulionis was feeding his teammates heavily and there's tons of action with him:

in my opinion that was most important season game.Last year saint mary went further

there is youth levels, student levels, men uleb levels and highest qaulity men levels

jump from level 2 directly to level 4 for any player its adaptation time season or 2 seasons

Jump directly to levels 4 with no past experience and ask them right away play well youngster have no chance it wont be fair fight

All timers can jump through levels and learn on the fly,but for mortal players it takes seasons to adapt to increased physicality and levels.

Not that experienced at PRO is not needed (Marciulionis has 1 season of LKL and CL), but you too fixated on this. Rememeber that all Karnisovas, Jasikevicius, Songailas, Kleizas and so on who went straight to the NT. And remember, specially, Kerr Kriisa who being 21yo has been dropping 10,8ppg and 5.8apg for Estonia in EB 2022. And that Estonia managed to lose only 3 pts vs Croatia, they swept Great Britain. In other words, Kriisa did really good job.

Marciulionis is much more ready than 21yo Kriisa. Physically and experience wise. We should simply test him if he can give back ups PG benefits already. All cases are different and if Maksvytis won't test Marciulionis, BB community won't understand that. There have been enough protest last summer already.

I repeating you 1990s and 2020s fiba and ncaa is diffrent times and levels. Dont compare orange with apples

Tell me what Ncaa players did in last 5 fiba tournaments for top 10 NT ? nothing because 2020s Ncaa students is not ready to fight nba and euroleague players

Estonia finished 1-4 and beat Great Britain in 2022 good for them.LTU standarts and requirements is bit diffrent.Im looking at NT who is trying to win, not just participate and live with raw PG up and downs.

No time for tests in olympic short summer.Time for testing was 2021-2023.

By 2024 coaches already knows how all players reacts to fiba tournament envirenments and act accordingly to that.

When player like D.Giedraitis who has good euroleague season i get it,he is playing in level 4 and he surely can be tested. But NT coach have no time in most important summer start testing players from level 2.
