Wolves vs Aris 83-72

Miniotas 20pts + Juskevicius 20pts = 40pts

Zukauskas 8pts+ Zemaitis 0pts = 8pts

strange to see NT 2022 players that should be in good shape right now being just backups to other same position ithuanian lkl players

Juskevicius would be an upgrade in NT instead of Zemaitis, but he finished there.

Murauskas looks good. Tonight he was 7/7 from the field (15pts), 8 boards, 22eff in 14 minutes. His improvements are obvious. He doesn't force shots, his decisions are surprisingly solid for his age. Defensively tried to guard the 1 and did it pretty nicely. I think last season Maciulis did a good job with him and now Canak pushes him to play the D hell of high water. As an 18yo he looks really well. He should have his 15mpg all season long and that's Eurocup team. Very lengthy combo forward with both inside and perimeter skills, good IQ, nearly two ways, shows some promise of three point shot. And he's not softy, active on the glass. If Murauskas will continue with the right attitude (naturally he's cockiness prone), his future if very bright.

Off topic, but I'm already projecting potential U20 NT roster next summer with - Buzelis, Murauskas, Lelevicius, Krivas. That would be unfair. That length and skill.

Yeah will be great to beat you again :D

Foster has killed Zalgiris knailing 34 pts. The best performance in Zalgiris-Rytas games since tremendous Eidson's performance in BBL final in 2009. In LKL Eidson scored the same 34 pts in final game.

A lot will depend if Rytas can keep Foster until the end of the season.

Congrats to Rytas. It's not so easy to beat this Zalgiris. On other hand, Maksvytis should learn to control the games more. Like Lukosiunas doing complete shit for 2 minutes, Zalgiris going down, but he waits, doesn't take time out. This is not PRO level. He is often late with substitutions and hesitant to take a time out. It's not like he's in Phil Jackon's shoes with this roster.

On other hand, despite a win...I'm looking at Rytas' roster therer's zero NT material there...zero...I mean Rytas used to have Siskauskas, Macijauskas, Kaukenas, Javtokas in freakin' roster. Now their best Lithuanian is freakin' Radzevicius...

4 NT players Brazdeikis,Ulanovas,Butkevicius,Lekavicius lets one american streetballer win game by himself? with 63% shooting?

They should be ashamed for this poor energy performance in defence. I get they are tired after friday game,it takes alot of energy to comeback from -20 and win...but still this was principal game.

This game only showed once again one skilled guard can decide games how basketball is played now even with weaker roster.

Pikenrool and let skilled guard cook 1 vs 1 vs opponnets bigs again and again and again :)

there no smart tactics here just who has best individual strong guard that team have advantage in 4querters.

There was more Lithuanian talent in that days. And foreign clubs and agents were not so active like today. Rytas could keep Siskauskas until his 25-26...Today it would be impossible.
So today it's mainly about foreigners. Zalgiris is strong this season because they managed to get strong ones. Last season it was opposite and therefore Zalgiris wasn't strong. Rytas started this season awfully because foreign players looked very bad, but when Fridriksson began to play it became way better. And today Rytas won because Foster had a monster game.

Rytas could keep Siskauskas because they basically was offering the same money as any other club in Europe. Macijauskas said that it was hard decision to leave Vilnius when Tau Ceramica made an offer cause the condition and the salary in Vilnius were all perfect. It's a shame that such city as Vilnius has been left without a solid club, the one that could attract at least 5-8mill budget, like Zalgiris.

Not to mention that horrible management fuck it up with 4 big prospects. When your best Lithuanian is Radzevicius you are noting but a boring club.

Boring for you maybe, but today Rytas wasn't boring at all. Both Rytas and Zalgiris fans want their teams to win and it's on foreigners nowadays.
Rytas couldn't do anything with those 4 prospects. And i don't miss any of them except Tubelis and Blazevic a bit. But the first one is doing well in NCAA and the second one made a decision to move to Zalgiris by himself and he failed there.
Marciulionis is struggling in NCAA and what would he do in today's game? Playing like 5 min for defensive reasons?
Sirvydis is stucked very much in trashy non-defensive D league and if he's ok with that, let it be.

Those 4 tallents isnt exactly shinning in other places. They werent some first round no brainers draft pick tallents and last 2 years only shows that.

Only Tubelis has real chances being real NT players for manny years how it looks now in 2022.

Other 3 i dont even consider them as future stable NT players.

So those tales from 2019 how rytas ale have 4 super tallents ...in 2022 looks like way overrated predictions.

What those kids shown in 3 years is dissapointing compare to praise they were getting.

Thats not Siskauskas/Macijauskas/Javtokas/Valanciunas level raw but super promissing material kids rytas provided in the past not even close.

top 20 all time ltu players by age 22-23 was top 8 men NT playoofs rotation players. In next 18 months those 4 kids have close to zero chances to do that to be consider as that kind of tallents.

Compare them to Jasaitis,Gecevicius,Jomantas , Andriuskevicius past young tallents ,but not top 20 all time ltu players those by age of 22-23 wasnt tallents, they were NT lock players.

Basically all 4 guys made noise in LKL as 17-18yo guys. Tubelis played most little, but even he showed some glimpses of explosiveness in these 6 games he played as 17yo basically. Sirvydis dropped 20pts as 18yo against Unicaja in Eurocup. Marciulionis had some big games in Champion League as 18yo. Blazevic as 18yo also was already important rotation player.

We can only speculate how good they would be today, but they would be pretty good, that's for sure. Also upcoming big talents always attract attention. Now Rytas has no Lithuanian players with upside.

In Lithuania I watch 3 clubs. Zalgiris, Lietkabelis, Zalgiris 2. That's the only places where Lithuanians with upside play today. Rytas and Wolves are pathetic clubs without a single Lithuanian player with upside. Not a single guy who has quality of NT.

How exactly is Rytas fault that those ale super tallents isnt shining in other places ? In 2 years those 4 kids didnt shown something wow for rytas to think why we didnt try harder to keep them.

Sirvydis/Blazevic run after bigger money and they didnt care that they wont get minutes. It was obviuos that Sirvydis in nba and Blazevic zalgiris wont get minutes .Thats on young players desicions. They choosen money over playing time and stopped progressing. Other 2 wanted to be ncaa students.

Judge proffesionals clubs not by results, but by how manny upcomming kids thats not how clubs/organisation is judged.

Rytas won lkl last year first time in decade, they are doing something right in last 2 years as organisation/club.

Those 4 kids choosen desicions looks like very questionable in 2022.

It's not the question are they shinning or not (that they are not or that they are stopped progressing is just your judgment with which I disagree, but it's not important), it's a question why 4 bright Vilnius prospects decided to leave their hometown and their local team. Both Blazevic and Sirvydis expressed openly that they couldn't trust team management. Now it's their judgment which may be false. But the fact is that Rytas' management couldn't properly connect with them. However you see that, it's a waste cause many people enjoyed those cheeky youngsters playing.

With Tubelis and Marciulionis it's another story. There was no conflict as far as I know and they simply chose to go to NCAA. Probably here I can't go hard on the club, but they still let go 2 bright prospects nevertheless. I can greet Rytas for keeping JV as long as he stayed in Europe. He didn't need no NCAA or any other club in Europe. He played for Rytas and then went directly to NBA. That was a perfect job by Rytas.

PS: IMO, you are highly mistaken how you treat these youngsters. FOA, Tubelis dominating NCAA for 2 years. Blazevic was among top 5 EL Rising Stars last season. Sure, playing for the worst EL team helped, but still he showed flashes of potential. Sirvydis had magnificent Summer League. All three are doing fine, IMO. Marciulionis NCAA season was disappointing, he struggled. With that I agree. But he was solid in U20, showing obvious PRO skills like elite defense and elite play making. Your idea that they are struggling is really out of hand.

Yourself and manny others in podcast 2-3 years ago compared them to Siskauskas/Macijauskas/Javtokas group if that comparison we are judging them by than those 4 kids totally are failing.

They arent even close to that trio.

Valanciunas never made no problems with same club . He was way more tallented and more achieved than any of those 4. You know why? because he was simple kid and worked patiently and wasnt demanding nonsenses at kids age from proffesional club.He stayed in Rytas extra year, worked hard because knew he is not ready for nba. JV already was NT player at that point. Sirvydis went to nba with lkl 5pts average :)

No 18 kid with 5pts lkl average are not comming to office in established proffesional club and demanding something. Shut your mouth youngster and firstly pay your dues and achieve something, then you can ask for something. But not before. Thast why all those Sirvydis cries for me that rytas didnt do bla bla sounds very selfish spoiled kids nonsenses.

Im sorry i have no sympathy for spoiled kid that changed playing time under good coach that cared about him and choosen to go israel club for extra penny and that club with no suprise sold him like uselees horse in first chance they could. Now last 2 years he spent in league that nobody watches and calls it a chaotic circus.

Why Kulboka/Brazdeikis didnt wanted to spent more time in that g/joke league? Their stats was way better than Sirvydis stats.

In 2020s how average club can keep young real prospects? one good season like Giedraitis and Kalaitzakis and euroleague club takes them with way bigger money.

Its illusion that in 2020s any average budget club can keep real tallents long term. Mission impossible its not 90 or early 00s anymore.

Couple of things.

Zu, Money, Gust, Marek are definitely the best bunch of talents coming since Siska, Macas, Robke. It doesn't mean former are or will ever be as good as the latter trio, but it's the best since then and it came at the same time. It's very rare, it never happened before. Let's remember that Macas is from Klaipeda, Siska from Kaisiadorys and so on. Now it's just pure Vilnius guys coming and balling together. Actually we should count D. Giedraitis in, he's also Vilnius native. It's unprecedented blossom of talent in Vilnius. That's why people talked so much about it, it's complete rarity.

Second, Rytas' management surely made some harsh mistakes. Like Jarutis publicaly criticized Sirvydis' for the lack of effort in the practices. That's extremely stupid. Deal with such things inside, not in media. Later (when sloppy mouth was fired) Rytas learned that lesson and with Zavas it's all good now. Besides, Rytas decision to go from Eurocup to CL for few cents was extremely stupid too. No wonder Marekas didn't have a second thought when EL club knocked onto his door.

Vainauskas stretch with Lietuvos Rytas showed that Vilnius' and Lithuanian market is capable to have 2 big clubs with money. Money keeps players. Actually when you have local talents you can keep them with even lesser money. All 4 youngsters have sentiments towards Vilnius and expressed that many times. Only issues with super unPRO management screwed it all in the first place. I think in the future Wolves will show again that they can gather talented young Lithuanians and keep them longer term when they will be among most competitive Eurocup teams or even will play in EL. But Rytas screwed just from very start when money wasn't even an issue really.
