Sacramento Screw The Dominicans

Sacramento Screw The Dominicans

it's too bad that Sacramento Kings didn't let Francisco Garcia play the last game of the last qualifying spot to the world Championship, because Gracia was the best player for the Dominicans, and maybe the best player of the whole tournament, he was the heart and soul of the team.

With Francisco Garcia playing The Dominican would've beaten Canada easily and qualify to the World Championship, Missing Garcia meant missing 20 points per game more. So that being said we all know that The Dominicans qualified to the World Championship Morally due to the fact that Sacramento Kings pulled out Garcia at the last minute and didn't let him play after he had played the rest of the tournament (and dominated it BTW).

Because of this The Dominican Republic, deserve a "WILD CARD" because they didn't qualify because of The Sa-CRAP-mento (I mean, Sacramento) Kings, not because Canada was better.

We all know The Dominican Republic would have won that game against Canada with Garcia with them.

and on top of that, the Refs stole the Dominicans the game against Brazil, when at the last 2 minutes, they sent out all our Big men (Al Horford, Atlanta Hawks, and Charlie Villanueva, Detroit Pistons) with some phantom calls, "A-LA-D.wade"

and the same happened against Argentina, Scola played for the last 2 quaters with 4 fouls (you only need 5 to be out under FIBA Rules) (Scola) pushing everyone, and pulling Al Horford's hand all over the place, and (Scola) was never call of those fouls, and at the end he (Scola) was trhe one who won the game (with the help of the Rfes, of course)

So with all this been said, The Dominican Republic, rightfully deserve a WILD CARD.

Just Imagine that Dominican Team with ow more NBA players like Trevor Ariza, and Sammy Mejia (Detroit Pistons, not in the NBA right now), and a young college prospect like Edgar Sosa (Louiville's Cards) and Other players (all with NCAA experience also) playing in the best European Leagues like: Jose Olivero (France), Jeff Greer(France), Ricky Soliver (France), Sean Ogrii(Spain), other NCAA players like 6'9'' Foward Antonio Pena ,and playmakers Alvin Abreu and Manny Quezada, and a 7 footer player with ACB (Spain) and D-League (NBA developmental League) experiences, Joshua Asselin.

Poland is going to try to get the wild card.

I know that few users of IBN don't like the idea :D

There will be 9 or 10 places for Europe on WC. Poland - 9. place on EuroBasket. Best team out of the quaterfinals.

I know that chances are very small.

For me, now most probably wild card will go to the 8. EuroBasket team, Lithuania, Germany and Dominican Republic.

1-Lithunia
2-Germany
3- 8th of europe ( only if croatia took it they might not take a wild card )

4- will be between 3 countries
*Nigeria
*Lebanon( according to the criteria for getting a wild card putted by fiba, we have the best chances between these three teams )
*DR ( they have the lowest chances becuz of their history in the last years )

it's Impossible to give Poland a wild card !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What if serbia took the 8th place in eurobasket will they get a wild card ???
In 2006 serbia took a wild card... will it be fair to give a country 2 wild card in 2 consecutive WCs ???
I think in this case for sure the wild cards must go to :
-Lithuania
-Germany
-Lebanon
-Nigeria

Serbia today is young and very good team :) Milos Teodosic (22) - i think he is better as Ricky Rubio by Eurobasket in Poland, Stefan Markovic (21), Uros Tripkovic (23), Ivan Paunic (22), Milenko Tepic (22), Nemanja Bjelica (21), Novica Velickovic (23), Milan Macvan (20), Miroslav Raduljica (21), captain Nenad Krstic (26) + Darko Milicic (24), Sasa Pavlovic (26), Boban Marjanovic (21), Marko Keselj (21), Dejan Musli (18)... We have great talent in basketball  It's a pity for Goran Dragic (23, Pheonix Suns) and Sasa Vujacic (25, Los Angeles Lakers), they are Serbs but played for Slovenia. And we don't need players like Predrag Stojakovic, Vladimir Radmanovic or Igor Rakocevic in future, and they are good players too ;)
And of course, we are in semifinal in Poland and in Turkey next year :)
Serbia ist great basketball nation, record world champion, won the tournaments 1970, 1978, 1990, 1998, 2002 (1970, 1978, 1990 as Yugoslavia), and we must participate by great basketball events!
I have respect for basketball in Lebanon, but Lebanon by FIBA World Championship 2010 in Turkey? No chance my friend!
I say Russia or Croatia (the last team in Katowice), Lithuania, Germany and Nigeria!

Or Great Britain, host nation 2012 (olympic games)!!!!!!! With Ben Gordon, Luol Deng & Pops Mensah-Bonsu, this is very good team, better as DR with Garcia, Horford and Villanueva... But i think Russia or Croatia, Lithuania & Germany participate in Turkey from Europe. And Nigeria as fourth team with wild card.

*WHY Nigeria????
they aren't better than Lebanon or D.R
*Nigeria won two games in WC 2006 like we did .. they didn't do better...they won against serbia and Lebanon...Lebanon won against france and venzuela...
*plus we are more consistent than nigeria when it comes to fibaasia competetion in the last 10 years (5 semi- finals with 3 finals ).. while nigeria qualified just two times to the semis with one final ...

plus according to the criteria for Wild Cards.. nigeria can't be in WC ...
Lebanon have better chance than nigeria...

************The criteria for the wild cards************

1-In order to be invited, a team must have participated in its 2009 FIBA Zone Qualifying Championship.

2-There can be a maximum number of three teams from a given FIBA Zone.

3-In addition to the two above-mentioned requirements, FIBA shall take into consideration the following aspects:

-Sporting Aspects

*Popularity of basketball in the country
*Quality and sporting results of the country's national team
*Quality of work by the National Federation

-Economic Aspects

*Involvement of local television station(s) and/or competition(s) in domestic and international basketball

*Importance of the country to FIBA's marketing and television partners

*Importance of the country to the Organizers of the FIBA World Championship

Note: The FIBA Central Board is the highest executive body of FIBA where 20 members and three ex-officio members meet twice yearly. The Central Board establishes the Internal Regulations and assigns the organization of all World Championships

So if u look at the criteria for the wild card u will see that our chances are better than Nigeria....:D

Nigeria couldn't even make it out the quarterfinals for the 2009 Africa Championship, so I don't think they even stand a chance to get invited.

Russia has the strongest chance of getting wildcard since they won Eurobasket 2007 and also played good this year without key players. They're also a big country with a large population. FIBA wants as many viewers as possible.

Lithuania has the second strongest chance of getting wildcard based on basketball popularity and past success. They will get the second card with no doubts.

Dominican Republic has the third strongest chance of getting wildcard since FIBA wants basketball to be popular in the Americas and make it more competitive like Europe.

Even though I've included Germany in the past, I don't know if it's a lock for them to make it now especially if Nowitzki decides not to play again. If Italy is desperate for a wildcard and is willing to pay for one which is being reported, I could see FIBA changing the rules and letting them take Germany's spot. I don't agree with it but FIBA is in control.
