Basket Ball is the Number One game in schools; Schools where exactly the biggest and most enthusiast crowds are; schools where the good ambiance and the best cheering takes place, which is why the Lebanese High Scholl Basket Ball League (LHBL) is looking to be one of the most anticipated and viewed school tournaments of the year.

Organized by Rizkallah Zaloum, one of Lebanon’s most renowned coaches, and Sport Evasion,
the leading company in sporting events in Lebanon 8 private schools divided into 2 groups will play home and away games from January till March. The top 2 schools from each group will qualify to the semi finals then the finals. In total, 28 games will be played.

Moreover, a technical committee elected from the participating schools will choose among the players, the best ones to join The National Lebanese School Team that will participate In The Arabic Schoolastic Championship heldin Lebanon in August 2010
Who’s in?
So far 8 major schools have confirmed their participation and the 5 others should join promptly
Mont La Salle,Champville,Jamhour,Notre dame De Louaizeh, ,Antounins / Baabda,Central,College Protestant, Evangelical School/Rabieh.
Each School will be given by the organizers 2 jerseys; 1 white and 1 of a different color. The Jersey will include the logo of the school on the chest and the logo of the LHBL sponsor on the front side of the Jersey. The lower back side of the jersey is reserved for any sponsor the school wants to get. Please note that Alcohol, cigarettes or any other sponsor in contradiction with students health and positive awareness will not be allowed.

A booklet with a picture of each player and his position will be printed and distributed in the participating schools. This booklet will include statistic sheets that each player can fill up to follow his progression along the championship.
Games will take place on Friday afternoon. Exact timing to be confirmed in accordance with the TV channel broadcasting the games.

Friday being the last day of school before the week end, it’s the perfect time for the students to stay after hours and encourage their school mates, and for the others to watch the game on TV at home since Saturday is off.

4 games will be happening at the same.
On the other hand, the whole championship will be covered on weekly basis by the media (TV, Radio and Press)

Wow great news Nader :D
Only if they can expand this league to reach a wider and bigger amount of Schools players!
Believe me, its in places we dont expect is where great young players are available.
I hope the fed would develop this idea on a wider scale.
Please keep us updated.
Thanks :D

As for Northern Lebanon, the School's competition is featuring a battle of 3 impressive young prospects:
- Tarek Merhebi: 15 years old PG/SG (playing for Freres school and the Men Team of Al Riyadi Beirut being one of the youngest players in the 1st division this year)
Tarek was the captain and leading scorer of the Lebanese U16 NT in the last WABA that was held in Lebanon.
- Yahya Raad: 17 years old PG/SG (playing for Rawdat Al Fayhaa and AL Mutthaed Club Men team).
Yahya led Rawdat Al Fayhaa to 2 straights Azem Schools competition of North Lebanon being the MVP of the finals in both tournaments and the leading scorer of the last one of it.
- Walid Al Saoudi: 17 years old SG/PG (playing for Al Iman School and Al Muttahed Club Men team).
Leading scorer of his team and Muttahed's 92 team, can score from every spot on the court.
All 3 players are considered as Combo guards, able to play the offensive part of the game greatly being Point Guards and with the capacity to play the shooting guard position easily.
The battle begun between them when Yahya's Rawda and Walid's Iman clashed few weeks ago in a superb game when both of the stars crossed the 40 points mark.
Expect great from those 3 prospects.

Thanks for the thread guys.

Mont La salle is a very tough team, 6'7 forward Aboudy El Farekh and 5'10 Costy Coudsy are on the team!

Keep us updated.

Some really tough games were held lately, specially last Saturday when Al Iman (Led by Walid Saoudi) lost to Freres (led by Tarek Merehbi) with a margin of 3 pts only, Walid had 39 pts while Tarek had 33.
The final will be this Saturday at Al Jinan University Court between Freres and Rawdat Al Fayhaa (with the superb Point Guard Yehya Raad). This is going to be a great game to watch.

Thank you khayye Ahmad!
A question, how old is Tarek? Above, you said 15 are you sure? cz if thats true then the guy do have a slight chance to become one of the best pgs in few years!
And who is better btw the 3 pgs ? Tarek,Walid or Yahya?

basing on all info im gathering, our U18 NT is going to be loaded by very good guards (Tarek Merhabi,Costy Coudsy,Yahya Raad,Walid Saoudi,Karim Jadayel,Ramy El Amin,Ahmad Ibrahim if he joins ...) but the biggest prob we r going to face is under the basket!!!!!

how tall are those guards?

do we have any decent point guard who is more than 190 cm? or as usual all of them are 182-184 cm max?

Tarek Dagher, one of the best prospects is a guard and 190cm.He's 16 years!
Costy is short,he's 178cm i guess!
Karim Jadayel is 2-3 and he's not tall,around 186cm!
Ramzy El Amin is a guard and 185cm!
Tarek Merhabi is short,around 180cm i believe but he's just 16!
Cyril Massaoud 2-3 is 191cm
