He was 15 then , so he's really come a long way. , he didn't have any of the skills he has now. , I was actually impressed with his growth from 15 to 18 years old.
To be fair Kai at 18 yrs old was possibly a top 50 peospect for his age group.
After Ignite was when it went down hill (or more accurately lacked the desired learning curve to make the NBA)

they like to compare the support that filipinos gave to Manny when he was starting to try his luck in US, but they forget that Manny was alredy a former world champion and proved himself here and in asian boxing circuit, in NBA terms he's already a MVP of a lower tier league when he tried the US boxing scene

what the kainatics cannot understand is if he is really good enough he will be drafted by a team when he joined the draft or will be offered by a two way contract after being undrafted, but not even an SL roster invite was given to him last year, now after another year in NBL and a few months in Bleague his agency was able to give him a SL gig so its a level up from the previous year but some people who think that it will give him a chance to be signed this year will be in for a rude awakening, Kai blew his good chance after that Ignite fiasco, and if we talk about nba career progress as of now i still find BRPJr as more successful than Kai, the guy was almost drafted as the 60th pick if reports were true, received a summer league invite and played after being undrafted , selected in the dleague draft and played for an nba affiliated team for one season, Kai still have a chance and just what like others said here he need to show that he can be a good role player in todays nba and if he will not be signed this year he should dominate in Bleague but his higher chance to be signed is to join G-league or any top European League and play excellent and if he will not be able to make it to the NBA, i think europe is not a bad choice it may not pay him as much as in the japanese league but as for player development it will be good for him and the national team

though Japeth and Kai still played zero D League/ G League minutes, though to be fair with Kai he experienced pre season minutes, that ignite fiasco really blew his best chance after that it was back to zero , see Ray Ray was a good prospect out of highschool and could've been drafted if chose to play in a US NCAA school instead of NU, if Kai decided to have this route and develop and played 2 or 3 years of college basketball he could've been a late second round draftee this year or last year . look at Hachimura

Just not meant to be, NIL was only implemented a year after he signed with Ignite. Kai playing college ball at NCAA would have been the ideal situation. Man, it seems that Kai's development (professionally and in terms of his basketball skills) was screwed by quitting ignite.
edit: i thought Japeth played a game or two for the Santa Cruz Warriors, hindi pala. So for now, BRP is the closest homegrown to make it to the nba.
Kai, Japeth, Kobe, BRP and Keifer, IBN's hype team, would have made a good gilas 5

Japeth was drafted but he was waived so he decided to go back and was traded to globalport and played one conference with them , Parks if stayed in the US after highschool has a good chance to be drafted, true Kai's best chance was if he played with ignite developed his game to be more accustomed to NBA pace and physicality but that is a boat that already sail, so his best chance after SL is to dominate in a top league outside NBA,

Its on 5:30 today tol, its 4:13 am rn and im losing it pre, im restless af tol.
The agonizing years of waiting. The countless jokes about being lesser than the Chinese and Japanese, the foreign exchanges with other foreign basketball fans that end with them talking constantly about Conyo Jokoy Fil-am swagless cringe and cheap Filipina Women over PBA basketball and Gilas Filipinas. The entire century of being told heart over height by half bloods who cant even speak the language. The countless jokes about small Filipino dicks, lack of swag, and lack of Basketball success. The enternal mental anguish in realizing that Kai will be the only Full Asian Filipino representation in the NBA for possibly forever as these scouts aint never going to Asia for new players, white folk are thr butt of all they jokes about hoopers, at least they got playa stereotypes, we Asians got none except being fans, watching our women get railed, be the in every thumbnail involving fans getting crossed, and the countless jokes in thr expense of CBA teams.
