Kai Sotto Thread

LOL people are talking like Orlando can only choose among it SL players to complete their roster when in reality they can sign any player who be be left unsigned by the other teams. Players not only from the SL but the G-League as well.

Hundreds of players to choose from. But whatever, enjoy the fantasy while it lasts.

Lets put this in prospective, there are also a lot more players that can occupy Kai spot in SL but he was chosen. So its a positive step for him. Everything he does is first for a Filipino o very few had done. So by stats wise he has beaten it. This doesn't mean he will get NBA but at least it a more a step towards it.

Like how Pacman beats all the odds and stat. If Pac will look at the stat on how many Filipino in the pound for pound list, he might not be try to be one.

Some people who are negative against kai it will not work.. I know kai is not yet there in terms of talent, but he’s hardworking guy and every hardworking people always blessed… maybe not now but he’s already near in his dream… I want him to success, he deserves atleast 10 day contract or 2 way contract in the nba… whether it’s Orlando or other teams…

kai will be the 2nd pinoy baller to play in Summer league. the first is BRP Jr.

That's the point of Wasserman right? Imagine if Wass can't even get him an SL slot. LOL.

Obviously you (like PeeZones) also didn't watch his games in Japan. If you did, you won't call him hardworking.

an extra 2 way will always help... but you still have to see what it really means in Kai's context . cause essentially it's simply a change from like 4 draft picks (2 every year) competing for 2 two ways , it's improved to 3 for the 4 or 5 draft picks and it's less chance for Kai's situation cause 1 he is not a draft pick (not drafted ) and 2nd his draft year was last year . (they prioritise 2 ways on incoming draft entrants , not previous years) .. so in pecking order Kai is really down in the waiting list

Let's say you Consultant (Asian Region) …. Orlando GM and his team asked you:
- This 21yo player Kai (7'3 / 230 lbs.) Why'd you think Head Coach Jamal Mosley and Coach Murphy chose him to fill - in our SL Center/Bigman slot?

What will be your answer / feedback...

Obviously you (like PeeZones) also didn't watch his games in Japan. If you did, you won't call him hardworking.

Sometimes you should not only based on what you see inside the court… there are many happenings we are not see inside… as I said, his talent still not yet good, but that is not the point… if you don’t believe on him then that’s fine… that is your opinion… Kai is not that guy who surrenders early… it serves him motivation to reach his dreams… Kai doesn’t care about your opinion anyway… he’s making his dream while we are just miron…

Kai is also the 4th youngest in this SL roster and the other 3 will have guaranteed contracts. Kai could fight for that Goga spot if ever he will be signed as a two-way player. Goga is ORL backup center and they would need a 3rd center. If Kai will be a two-way, he should aim to supplant Goga as the 2nd center.

That Two-way Contract for KS seems like it is being written and CTRL+ALT+P for Printing?!?!!!

*obviously more steps to hurdle (proof-read, reviews and more agent-reviewed and signed) but seems like the signs and vibes is all coming for KS and at least his Two-way contract...

Are you hearing yourself correctly? Do you think you are making any sense? A basketball player who should be evaluated off the court? LOL OK.

I'm sure Kai will be very happy to know there are so many people making excuses and justifications on his behalf free of charge.

Wish him luck but don't make up crazy non-sense arguments, don't dumb down yourself for a basketball player. It's not worth it.

kai does lack motor and activity on the floor. needs to find ways to contribute especially when he does not have the ball

Obviously you (like PeeZones) also didn't watch his games in Japan. If you did, you won't call him hardworking.

There is a difference between hardwork and motor. He hasn't had any off-season and been training. Is that not hardwork.

Ok let me rephrase the question, so it's not personal

If Pelicans asked me same question, why did you include in SL a 6'10 skilled combo forward (Hepa) who made U18 team USA ?
another question why did lakers select a PG who led his team to an NCAA championship (Kihei)

As you can see I can exaggerate and make it mean more than it really , in both cases similar to Kai all 3 chances to be totally honest are slim of making a roster spot. .
Kai is no different from all the undrafted player rookies in the SL roster (about 8 of them) . No need to make him the exception, and say he has better chance than the rest , they're all in the same boat , undrafted long shots to make the NBA.

There is a difference between hardwork and motor. He hasn't had any off-season and been training. Is that not hardwork.

This one is a bit subjective. I mean if you play soft with low effort and energy what are people supposed to think? Remember all the hate players get from having a " larong mayaman game" or " takbong mayaman"? I remember players boasting that they've been training or working out in the off season adding moves or muscles then the regular season comes and they're still playing exactly the same way.

I think training and improving yourself in the offseason should be the bare minimum if you're a professional basketball player. Especially if you're trying to make the league as an undrafted player you should work harder than everyone else. Unfortunately people will be judged based on how they perform in games

Hehe the bare minimum suddenly becomes the bar when they talk about Kai. If that's what hardwork means, imagine how many equally or even more hardworking players there are out there. Kai has so many apologists even BBM will be put to shame. LOL.

Keep the jokes and excuses coming. Like what Kakampinks love to say, you folks are "Tanga for Free".

Stop frying your brain cells doing mental acrobatics for a basketball player. You can support him without making up delusional statements like Mr.Wetherell.

There is a difference between hardwork and motor. He hasn't had any off-season and been training. Is that not hardwork.

At least you got 1 thing right, he doesn't have motor. LOL.

Kai's tragic story serves as a cautionary tale, a reminder that dreams and aspirations are meaningless without the commitment, dedication, and hard work required to achieve them.

Laziness, as Kai will learn too late, is a merciless saboteur, capable of tearing apart even the strongest.

A little bit of break or good news for Kai Sotto fans is that Bol Bol’s guarantee date has been moved. It means Orlando will have to decide a bit longer if they will keep or waive Bol Bol’s contract.

Or it could just mean Orlando is looking somewhere else for that spot either in free agency or an asset (Bol Bol) to be traded. Orlando has US$20M in cap space.

They can get Mo Bamba back.

Too opinionated and has too many absurd takes.lol Kai Sotto should be 20-20 guy every game at age 19 and he needs to contend for MVP in NBL and JBL. He also should be robotic and not express any frustration when not receiving passes from teammates.lol

Wasserman, Wass bigwigs, and all these NBA teams expressing interest in Kai are really stupid. He is too far from the NBA and too lazy.lol Kai should produce peak-level performance regardless of age.hahaha Anything less, won't make the cut and really unworthy.haha

So what should a guy with AMAZING NBA-LEVEL CREDENTIALS average in Japan?

Someone who played with "seasoned veterans", someone more talented than Chet, Wiseman with the IQ of a Larry Bird.

Mobley averaged 15 and 8 in his rookie season in the NBA playing against NBA players. What should someone "BETTER THAN MOBLEY" average in B League playing against tiny Japanese and NBA rejects?

If not 20-20, then WHAT?

Di ako ako katulad mu na ang analysis walang kwenta. Kai and his family need to earn and you dont contribute to their expenses abroad. You dont blame them for entertaining every opportunity to earn a living.

Find 5 7'3 prospect who could move and as skilled as Kai. If Todd would be drafted, for sure Kai would also be drafted. Kai was paid twice than what Todd and kai was assess with higher upside. Ano tingin mo sa NBA scouts katulad mo magisip? KMART JR only played AAU ball and was drafted. Kai's drafting isn't dependent on those games but on his potential and upside. Walang magbabayad ng pera kay Kai kung wala yang kwentang player.

You dont compare him to previous prospects who failed. You could find thousands of Kobe, Parks, Japeth all over the world but you rarely find 7'3 as agile and skilled as Kai. Kaya yang mga rants mu walang kwenta. Keep it to yourself.

As Daleo said kai has unlimited potential. He will be drafted because of that tremendous upside. Problema sa iba dito mas marunong pa kaayu sa real experts and wala kayung bilib sa bata. Pagmay nagappreciate ng skils ni kai dito you ganged up on them. Pinoy nga naturingan CRAB naman.

Puro lang negativity and criticism wala namang naitulong.

As always, you would insinuate that Kai is not that noteworthy.haha You'll eat your predictions again. I expect Kai's draft ranking to increase moving forward. He has been playing against seasoned veterans and both Kardo and LP could very well be great bigs in the NBL league. You always declare that you have insider info and that you had a hand on things but you openly criticized EWP.hahaha Such a weird state to be in that you talk to people that you malign here. Also, your info didnt include details with his agent that he would be drafted while you were very firm that he would go undrafted.lol

I really believe Kai's talents and overall value merits a lottery selection. If both Chet and mobley, could be seen as top tier lottery players then Kai should be near that rankings. I really dont see them as way better than Kai.

Basketball is ingrain to Kai. His understanding is so natural. He is born to play. I see his understanding and IQ is similar to LARRY BIRD. Capitalize para sa mga negatrons.hehe somehow these days the consensus is that he will be drafted.hehe

lol if you can't differentiate SKILLSET and player accomplishment, then stop posting BS!haha Daming opinion and yet cant recognize skills!haha

JBL and NBL were both very physical leagues and it limits offensive player movements.haha When Tony Ronzone states that Kai is similar in skillsets with Jokic, then he is way more credible than any armchair negatron here. The projections were that Kai may reach his potential in a very conducive environment wherein he receives passes and allow to grow even if he commits mistakes.
