Jalen w/some S/O to Kai

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThJD7tQMQ0M

Whether Kai makes it or not to the NBA (as in regular season roster or two-way) at least we're sending heaps of positive energy to the hopes and dreams of the kid.

Your basketball journey does not end if you don't make it to the NBA or the PBA, you have a platform, a livelihood and a stage to express yourself as long as you're involved with the game.

Lol historical precedence that Kai cant make it because he is a homegrown Filipino? There are other variables you have to consider before coming up with that 1% bs you're claiming sir. Show us more data please :)

From most of your post, you're just a downright hater of Filipino basketball. You cant say you're objective when you're the one spreading false info, coming up with numbers that doesn't have any solid basis. Worse than misinformed and uneducated Pinoy basketball hypemen on Youtube.

Data is nationality agnostic , kihei does not have passport, even a Kiwi like Waardenberg if not invited for top 100 falls under the statistics, -players not invited in top 100 have have less than 1 % chance of signing as a FA within 2 years of their draft , how's that so hard to understand? Your national pride is tainting your comprehension of statistical facts.

Check the data i'll wait.. find just 1 plauyer not invited in both colbine and gnleague csmp that was signed within 2 years. Again we will all wait if you can disprove littieral fact.

no one said reason is because of nationality or homegrown.

im going to get clowned for this but imho

1. Hepa
2. AJ
3. Kai
4. Remy
5. RHJ

To be fair Hepa made U18 team USA , that's actually harder to do than make Ignite .. obviously Hepa's career like Kai didn't grow as projected after the early success coming out of HS , it happens ..

Well my rank isn't based on what they could be moving forward. Rather, i based my rankings on what they were if they reached their (rational) best case scenario.

Agree on the 2nd sentence as well as on whether or not Kai makes it to tne NBA. However, toxicity can be found not only in excessive negativism, but also in excessive positivity. That's why the term TOXIC POSITIVITY has been coined after all.

I have closely followed Kai Sotto's situation for many years, and recently, I decided to check up on him. I was surprised to find out that he is currently playing in Japan. Therefore, I decided to make a video analyzing all of Kai Sotto's mistakes in terms of decision-making regarding where to develop his skills. Also, I analyzed his game to provide an assessment of his current skillset. Take a look.

That was a good video..

Some detailed technicalities, studying in the US then signing a pro contract (ignite ) made him auto eligible for supposed to be 2021 draft (found loophole to defer )

Yes he can opt to go back to the NBL or Euro, but he has to sacrifice pay he is gets from B league, the Euro offer are for what we call development with target for NBA buyout, they are long term 4 year deals for teenage prospects, so buyout happend before contract expires with a big balance left to pay..
essentially he no longer has the opportunities he had at 18 year old. , yup career defining decisions.

Interesting insights, his whole career is riddled with these nonsenses, back stage decisions, his dad and the people surrounding him fu*ked him over badly. Take Domantas Sabonis decision, his dad ensured that he wouldn't get any wage from Unicaja so he can apply and play for college, and sure he did, signed with Gonzaga. Kai should have taken the EuroLeague deal, go play in Spain, challenge yourself and develop, I don't want to be harsh but Japanese league is a joke, I know that they are throwing massive money nowadays but it doesn't change anything, you won't develop in Japan ffs. I honestly got so triggered while analyzing his whole career lol

A few unfortunate timing of rule changed added to the unfavorable outcome
1. The auto NBA eligibility rule is now being amended to allow US base players who turn pro to opt when to declare for draft up to 22 yrs old (like international prospects

2 the ruling on NIL to allow US college players to earn from endorsement was passed in 2022

If those 2 rules were in effect when Kai left high school his decisions would not be so fatal.

BTW will add the naunaces of 2 way contracts that are limited to 2 per season per team normally reserved for teams draft picks . Essentially means team do not use it on over 21 year old FA , 2 years removed from draft year

Now here is my beef witb Philippine media, rather than report similar to a video that you shared , which provides in depth insight on the real situation, they report on limited info that could easily mislead and portray a situation that Kai has a good chance of making in the NBA, which is pure hype to get eyeballs and $$$, majority of Kai fans are not even aware of the things u shared or accept it.

If there is a sense of feeling that Kai has been trying to make the NBA for so long now and is an old prospect, it's not actually imagination. This is really Kai's 3rd summer to try to make the NBA, with the 1st two summer opportunities he failed to convince he's a serious prospect.

now this is the problem with Philippine media like Spin, they simply report on what a agent tells them (Sayson), witb inaccurate underatsnding , of process. And no added insight on Kai 's lack of interest from NBA teams

Cooks I believe took more than that to realize his dream. I don't see any negative in trying. If Sotto's strength, quickness, speed and stamina and in game attitude do not improve within two years time. That would be it..No NBA team would be interested with someone who cannot keep pace with the horses in the league.

Cooks taking longer is obvious, this isn't the window of opportunity I'm referring to, there are basically 2 ways of entering the NBA
1st is based on upside, which is the draft and if not drafted a 2 way development contract reserved for players within 2 years of their draft year. ( This is the window I'm referring to for Kai that's basically closed )

The 2nd is a vet FA to produce ASAP (not upside) like Cooks and Landale, Kai is now in this boat , now the level to make the NBA in this 2nd pathway is littierally to be a MVP candidate for a major overseas league like NBL or Europe. (2 ways are not available for these FA)

Hope that clarifies things. that is why Kai's chances of making it are now very slim

ewp having bankrolled kai to get to the us basically went after the money even if its not from the nba or worse a non top tier league - perhaps to recoup their investment and to make money off kai as soon as possible.

nothing wrong with that since they're running a business and not a charity, but an obvious consequence is that his route to the nba is now reduced to attending minicamps and summer league invites.

but if you were ewp will you do things differently especially since its their money?

BREAKING NEWS: Kai Sotto just finished his first NBA mini camp, this one with the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City.

Kai is now headed back to L.A. and on to the next camp.

TATTOO SPORTS PH seems the most credible youtube page when it comes to Kai Sotto related news and updates - he even more advanced and had more infos compared to them Saysons and Hensons...

-Orlando Magic sent and assigned scouting personnel @WassermanTrainingFacility specifically to gather info toward Kai
-Dallas Mavericks is Kai's next camp (July 5 - 7) after his 2-day camp with them Utah Jazz
-NBA East Conf Team would be his next camp sched around 2nd or 3rd week June

It's OK to report on developments (e.g. camp invites), but can a journalist provide accurate context insight on what this really means in terms.of his chances ( this is what journalists the good ones are paid to do).

There is nothing wrong for an Australian journalist to admit that for this year there will be no Australian likely to be drafted and that it's looking like Travers drafted last year won't make the jump to the NBA this year. This is plan and simple objective insight that people want to know for good journalism.(the bottom line)

Ok i'll do it for you as NO Pinoy journalist has to guts to be straightforward or else will be labeled as hater.
.. Kai has a few scheduled workouts arranged by his well connected agent , the experience is any players dream to go through the process of playing in front of NBA scouts witn legit prospects in NBA training facilities (evey players dreeam). Kai is unlikely to be signed to an NBA contract of any sorts this summer (period). How hard is that to say, it's just the bottom line accurate journalism not click baiting easy money reporting. . Memo for Sayson Spin..

Kai attending camps is not headline news but a footnote one shoudl find in an NBA camp report of attendees (there is Asian attendee)

Me thinks of the time the people of Zamboanga ruined a journalists's life because he uncovered the bullshit that was the Filipino Minor League team. Being straightforward about what he reported ruined his life n stuff.

They probably realized that being a Filipino Basketball fanatic is Absurdist Sisyphusian act, and that baseball could have been the sport to break the cycle, even if it invovled aome cheating (looking at you S.Korean team who got 4th in the 2002 FIFA World Cup and early MMA Pancrase that had fixed fights that was in favor for the white fighters, and yet look at them now, best Footballing nation in Asia while Pancrase became a vital league that helped in the MMA boom)

only time will tell if what sayson and quinito wrote about kai will come true or not

on a separate note, so if kai doesn't get signed to an nba contract this summer despite attending minicamps and possibly summer league can that be considered as enough proof that he's just not nba level talent? more importantly what does that mean for his career?

only time will tell if what sayson and quinito wrote about kai will come true or not

Not everything they said is untrue, but their narrative on the draft process where Kai opted to declare cause teams told his agent they would drsft him has already been proven to be false, as supposedly experts they didn't even do their due diligence to check the process that Kai had no choice to enter draft and could not withdraw (Bell was lying to them in interviews and rhey didn't even realiz it )Totally irresponsible journalism.
