1st upon leaving college , Maker was invited to NBA combine in 2021 , signifying teams considered him a prospect at the very least, then he moved to the NBL not as a local , but was invited as a next star (unlike Kai), again in recognition of his seriousness as a prospect.

Then in 2022 after a slow start of the NBL season, Maker was a late bloomer and was last next star playing and showcased his talent playing a significant role for the Sydney Kings title win. , he all.of sudden was a hot prospect Was invited to summer league and actually had a few quality games. And went on to secure a 2 way contract. Of course it helped his archetype as a versatile big is what the NBA was looking for .

BTW Makur became automatically eligible in 2022 , based on eligibility rule , studied in US (college) and signed a pro contract (NBL).. That is why he was on the auto eligibility list similar to Kai in 2022

so who are those players that wasserman helped make amends with the nba? you made such a bold claim but can't even cite these players.
 
If you put Calvin Abueva's Basketball Iq and swag to a 22 years old Japeth Aguilar's body. that is an nba level or nba d league player. A young Japeth was more athletic than Kai Sotto. Kai Sotto has more skills and taller than Air Aguilar.​

Kai at 21. Japeth never had played in an NBL-level competition. Even if he tried to do so, he will most likely be a benchwarmer. Kai was a rotation player during his two seasons in Adelaide.

Also, Kai has a better skillset than Japeth. What Kai lacks is really the strength and motor. Have he had this, he could have played more in Adelaide.

What Japeth and Kai have something in common is the lack of fire for the game.

Japeth always came across as someone who should be playing SF instead of PF/C tbh.

For starters, unlike Ranidel, Junmar, Marlou, and other pure Fil big men he doesnt have a big ass gigantism caveman head.

I guess the "fire" is with those guys who dealt with high level of hardships or life's challenges early in their lives and weren't pampered, plus had the right mindset to succeed, even if only at the national level. Too bad they weren't blessed with physical attributes that makes an international prospect. Guys like Arwind, Vic Manuel, Abueva, Ping, et al. for the xennial gen. I can only think of Rhenz (Thirdy to an extent) for the zoomers.

The pandemic also didnt help with everything. It is possible that is was the main reason why Kai wasn't in that Givony list.

A lot of NBA players used Wasserman to fix major issues with their teams and the league. EWP has taken the backseat and Wasserman is already the driver with regards to Kai's affairs. I dont even see any from EWP doing interviews regarding Kai these days. Kai with Wasserman is a very different package. Wass made Kai a Puma GLOBAL ambassador at age 20 and still not in the NBA.

IS KAI SOTTO 7'3 OR 7'4?

Many readers asked SPIN.ph that question after our latest Sotto piece ran.
Here's the answer. "He is 7-foot-3," said Tony Ronzone of Wasserman Sports, the architect of Kai's ongoing NBA drive.
And if you're wondering why I've previously written that Kai is 7-foot-4, here's the answer, too.
Joel Bell, the young center's former agent, told me so. Bell even sent me a text message to make sure that the 7-foot-3 length I penned on an article was rectified to 7-foot-4.

Finally, to all the bashers out there, I just have two questions:

What has Kai Sotto ever done to draw your ire?
I get it, many of you experts think he does not have the "goods" to make it to the NBA, but why all the hate, the vitriol?

As for us here at SPIN.ph, we are not hyping Kai.
Whether you like it or not, he is a newsmaker and we have an obligation to report his moves.

Same observation here. I don't want to throw the S word around but they're soft. Compared to guys like Oftana who came from nothing, grew up in poverty these guys were born with silver spoons in their mouth.

It's most of them 2nd gen basketball pro athletes. Blessed with the attributes and pedigree, just lacks the extra motivation to go further, and perhaps just being realistic too. They're privileged to learn about how actually hard it is for a Pinoy baller to tread the path to greater heights.

my main takeaway from this is that his main advantage over kai on their 1st year in the nbl is that he played for the top nbl team and was an nbl champion, probably being able to showcase himself more in the playoffs vs kai's bottom-3 team

this actually makes sense, this is how guys like matthew delavedova & patrick mccaw were able to continue their nba careers

You can't teach basketball IQ, Wasserman or no Wasserman. It's something you either have or you don't. Just ask our favorite punching bag Japeth. LOL
