Its not that AK looks bad until the last 2 games in Asian Games, its just he doesn't fit in Tim's system in some games but when Tim had to adjust his plays for AK he delivered as always.Heck even in SEA GAMES they should send the young guns, like 25 and under, win or lose the experience of playing outside of the Philippines is a winning experience the players.

I think this doesn't get mentioned enough. Good on Ange for taking advantage of the opportunities given by CTC. He sure is a system player but he does his role so well.

At this point Kai's minutes also depends on match ups. He was almost unplayable last WC. At least with Junemar you know you're getting rebounding and post scoring. Kai cannot do those with consistency and unless something drastic happens those are probably his main weaknesses aside from defense ( occasional blocks and alley oops are nice though) Edu might be our best big but he's very injury prone. Kouame will be taking an NP spot which is not ideal. If we play any other Cs aside from those guys and a new NP we are in trouble .

AJ had a knee meniscus injury. Around 6-8 weeks out. With the heavy minutes he played in B league I thought there was a risk of a knee injury happening and it did. We have to accept that good as AJ is, we have to limit his minutes. We have no choice, we need a center NP. AK is it. He's not as injury prone as AJ. I don't know why he didnt have a surgery but it seems even 80 to 90 % healthy Kouame is good enough. His stats are decent in the French league. So at least he is not stagnating.

I just saw Kouame is playing 3rd division in France. Is the 3rd division strong?

We need to develop other bigs that can help for Gilas long term... We don't have to rely on naturalized NP (especially bigs) too much... In the HK game, Don't tap main big guys... Geo Chiu and Demisina is enough to beat HK... Priority here is to develop for long term, If we don't trust them even against weak teams then we have a trouble on finding bigs in the future...

Better not to tap Ange, Kai and Edu in 1st window, especially against HK... Let them focus on their PRO careers and not to burn out to avoid more injuries.... We can beat HK even parading 2nd or 3rd class players... Take that opportunity to develop other young bigs to expose them in international competitions...

Here lies the politicis of choosing the players, somebody in charge might not like anyone assocated with Ateneo or MPBL,so more than likely those PBA players who didn't get to go will be in the roster this time.

No problem if they tap PBA players, IF those players will be the candidates for 2027 WC such as Malonzo, Oftana or Perez, But take that opportunity the tap mostly rising stars from UAAP/NCAA... Quiambao, Escamis, J. Cortez, Lopez, Amos, etc... should be there too...We should not put the likes Edu or Kouame against Weaker teams, They will gain nothing and possible injuries they will get playing against such weaker teams... Good test for Geo Chiu too playing against Duncan Reid to expose him this early...

The problem here is the ones going to make a pick are SMB so up to 10 players pretty sure comes from their teams that leave 2 slots for the token young and upcoming college guys.

I agree. This is the best time to expose our younger bigs. No matter how disappointing Chiu should be there. Japan took the effort to acquire one of our own just because he was tall. Exposing our young bigs to better competition is a must for their development.

The Dragonflies actually was the ideal situation for Kai. They had an open slot at C. They even had Kai playing with Blackshear. Kai just progressively became ineffective. He probably injured himself preparing for last years summer league. Now they are making it their goal for next year again. Why cant Kai and his group focus on improving in whatever league their playing. The article says that the 19 min he played at Hiroshima was disappointing as if his play deserved more. He could have gotten more minutes but was not as effective with more so he only got 19. They just really have to focus on his conditioning and make it their goal for him to play 26 effective minutes or something

agree, they keep looking for the "Perfect" team(maybe they want TSF treatment?) - that is a team paid to develop Kai and make him look good, this is the Pro level and Kai is the one being paid.

the silver lining here is that at least there's still takers for kai - so the dragonflies basically are selling kai to another team?

i already had a bad feeling when the dragonflies signed a naturalized player, that was a clear sign that kai won't be in the lineup

snippets from the SPIN article:

But just like in Australia, where playing time was a hindrance to his improvement (15.5 minutes per), the Dragonflies also held back Sotto's growth, giving him only 19.1 minutes per game.

The Dragonflies, meanwhile, had grown increasingly disappointed with Kai's continued absence, sources told.

Hence, the mutual agreement to separate.

This latest twist in Kai's story doesn't alter the path toward achieving his ultimate dream.

"He has a full-time trainer now. We expect him to play 30 minutes a game in his new team. We still want him to gain 15 pounds of muscle. He is only 21 and the window is still wide open to make it to the NBA," one of his reps told me.

seriously, playing time is earned not given. and 19 minutes for a pro team is not spot minutes. if kai wants to play 30 minutes that means he has to really outplay a world import for the main bigman role.

hope he ends up in a team that has a shallow center rotation and has no world import manning the slot. if he ends up with a team that has an established world import big his minutes will go down for sure.

Merry Christmas for vloggers and content creators. Their cash cow is back.

so kai can only be "loaned" to a team without an asian import or naturalized player?

It is always someone else's fault. Stupid brainless coaches who doesn't know how to utilize a wunderkind like Kai. Stupid crocodile guards who doesn't pass the ball all the time to Kai who's better than NBA HOFers. Stupid and biased scouts who don't include Kai even though he's better than Wemby, Chet, Mobley etc in their mock drafts because he's Asian.

If Kai still doesn't earn his desired 30 minutes playing time (don't know why they want to increase Kai's minutes considering the stamina issue and he got injured since he was playing too much basketball supposedly), maybe start looking in B-League Division 2?
