i just noticed hiroshima has a naturalized japanese player in their roster, 6'10" 34-year old south african chiriji kawata

https://japan.postsen.com/local/104...er-Kawata-Chiriji--Hiroshima-Dragonflies.html

he seems to be playing kai's minutes and is very productive, prolly even a better rebounder than kai. i wonder what's gonna happen once kai is back, only one of them can play

well Kai cant play beyond 20 mins anyway due to his cardio/motor, so i guess its the 36ers role for kai

him and kawata can't be on the lineup at the same time since there is only 1 slot allotted for asian or naturalized japanese players

wonder what super agent tony r is thinking right now? if the dragonflies do cut kai will another bleague team get him? will he go back to the nbl? if no other international league is interested in him will he come home and play for a mpbl team if only temporarily?

told you its not an encouraging sign, kai better get back in shape and hope kawata can't play a lick of modern big man defense or else ....

If you're looking at Kai's perspective,he's recovering from a back injury,so a 20 mins per game is not too bad,and if his productions are low,his bloggers and management can blame the amount of playing time he didn't get.

that won't matter if kawata turns out to be better than kai, its no longer a question about playing time but a roster spot. is kawata a temporary replacement only?

Man it would totally be a bummer if Kai gets traded down to the lower division.

why? he is injured right? if he is traded down, that means he still has a team. he still gets paid better than most of us here. we should encourage him to have a mindset that, he is recovering, use his time in the lower division to build himself up again and be worth to be taken back at the top division. he is a competitor, we should expect him to be competitive and have a dog mentality. no more hype, laban lng.

well we will see then, that will be a major test for him them and yes he'll be lucky if he still has a team in japan or in any other international pro league. if things become bad and he's cut by hiroshima will the mpbl be an option for him or will his management team just opt to sit out the next 4-5 months and have a run at the nba again come summer?

Pinoy Pride will not make them accept any MPBL offer regardless of salary.

MPBL and not PBA? i know he has disappointed fans (i blame the vloggers more for that than him to be honest) but its hating to say if he goes back home and goes to MPBL and not PBA. the only reason I can think of for him to go to MPBL would be length of contract. but if he already accepted work back in the Philippines, he'll probably stay for a season regardless of league.

Just a thought, with how the current things are about Kai and his management team, if ever they get to the point that they strongly considering PBA as his next destination but at the same time are only looking for a short contract (1 or a couple of conferences) just to keep in shape for his next NBA attempt, will he ever pass us a world import in the PBA?

Does he have that mentality though? His game and in game demeanor suggests the opposite..

im not optimistic but i wont write him off for the simple reason that, we dont have a lot of bigs who are ready to rep in the next few years JMF and Japeth are up there in age. the other PBA bigs... arent really that big. the up and coming bigs arent even in college. i dont think any of us here envision KQ or Amos and whoever in current college scene to do 4 or 5 internationally. no choice but hope for the best. and some say this is the Gilas Golden G(forgot what the 3rd G is). Kai not playing to expectation and suddenly we dont have enough bigs.

the only reason i said mpbl is if the situation is he gets cut between now and dec wherein the only league that will be available to him is the mpbl, plus he can join a mpbl team as a direct hire unlike the pba where he needs to apply for the draft.

plus i think its easier to disengage from a mpbl contract than a pba contract

The bloggers will have a panic attack and the blame game will be pointed at everybody but at Kai and his handlers.
