Kai Sotto Thread

isn't this injury something that heals thru self care only?, check it online too but afaik the pain from a herniated disc will get better within a couple days and should completely resolve in 4 to 6 weeks.

let's look at the timeline

kai gets injured vs the celtics on july 16
kai's 1st practice with gilas is august 15 (when he was cleared by doctors to practice)

that's a little over 4 weeks after he got the injury

was that enough?

gilas' last game was against china (sept 2) that was 3 weeks ago - assuming he didn't do any basketball training between then and now that's 3 weeks rest, so maybe hiroshima will just ask him to rest until the week of Oct 16.

Who knows what he was doing inbetween, more than likely he was partying and standing for long hours in a club like last time he was filmed, with his gf.

Thought he was cleared though? Remember all the drama before the WC? And there was no talk of any injury during the WC ( even though we were expecting it due to his performance).

wonder how the injury was diagnosed? perhaps the dragonflies gave him a full physical?

I’ve had it happen to me twice, pain goes away after 1-2 weeks but full complete recovery for the disc to go back completely is a few months. He can still work and play though

So it happened after the WC,no evidence that's where he got that injury from. Its gotta be after the tournament and they're all mum about that.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar stands 7”2” and had a 20 year NBA career. He is one of the outliers…

Jabbar and then no one else after him. Guys above 7'2 have short careers and that's what's gonna happen to Kai.

You are not 7'3 though and not even remotely a professional athletesl. So your experience is invalid.

Kai will probably improve a little bit. Better shooting percentage, more physicality, etc. But this is his athletic prime. He will get even slower as he gains mass and his conditioning will worsen. He will be basically be washed by the time he's 30 and honestly, that's okay. Dudes that are this tall are pretty fragile. This is the reason why he's maximizing his earnings potential because he probably knows he won't have a long career.

yes cnt blame his management for this, they only have a small window to earn as much given the history of above 7 foot players

looks like kai and his team will give the dragonflies the ignite treatment - take the money and run!

Mark Eaton 7'4 11 years with the Jazz and Kai is not 7'3 only with shoes, legit height according to the Dragonflies barefoot is 7'216.If you ask the bloggers Kai is 7'4 or taller than Wemby. Let's not forget Z Ilgauskas who is a legit 7'3 18 years,Randy Breur 7'3 played 11 years,7"4 Boban is going on his 8 years,7'4 Rik Smits 12 years,7'4 Ralph Sampson 12 years,7'5 Chuck Nevitt 11 years,7'6 Shawn Bradley 12 years.

sampson had the chance to be an atg if nor for all those injuries, he's the only really athletic 7 foot ++ on that list of yours and while he did end up on paper playing 12 seasons he only got to play 441 reguar season games out of 820 scheduled games spanning those 12 years. moreover, he was at his best during his pre-injury years which was only 2 years (1983-1985), after 1987 when he made his last all star appearance he practically fell off the nba landscape.

In just two games, AJ Edu is proving that he is really a better player overall than Kai. Look at the rebounds and rim protection, where bigmen are supposed to do better. AJ Edu has it, Kai Sotto lacks it.

The big Z is as athletic as any 7footer,Randy Breur famous for his "White Left Hook Shot",is another one and let's not forget the most underated center in the 90s Rik Smits.

Who's the most athletic 7 footer and above?

Porzingis? Sampson? Kareem?

Wemby and Chet are still early in their careers so I'll reserve my judgment

if we really know Garnett's actual height, he'll probably be the most athletic 7'0 guy.

Porzingis definitely. Haven't watched the other 2 unfortunately.

Thought Gisnnis is 7 ft now?

Oo nga, Giannis is now listed at 7 feet tall,
Durant is also listed at 7'0 with shoes now..

real concern would be players above 7'2, as they are plagued with injuries (i.e. Porzingis). So somehow Kai milking SBP for his World Cup appearance is logical since they need to ear as muc before his window ends

That's quite sad and I honestly hope that isn't the case. But I can't really blame them. He'll always get a fat contract wherever he goes but teams would probably be more cautious now
