We'll see how things will work under coach Messina... he won't have much time to get things going for the pre-olympic tournament (depending on the end of Spurs season).

I hope he can build a reliable difense and more organized offense (over the next few years)... the talent is there.

What's going on with Datome, Gentile and Melli? Why are they missing on this list?

All of them still plays in local championships, the same like Cinciarini, Aradori, Polonara, Della Vale, who are also top candidates to make final roster

I thought so, just wanted to check it. One thing I learned from Messina during his Real Madrid days is to expect the unexpected.

they are playing playoff!

I think only Cinciarini and Aradori, for Polonara and Della Valle will be very hard taking part in the final roster!

In the last eurobasket we missed a player very strong in defense in our backcourt

I Think the final roster will be something like this:

Cinciarini-Hackett
Belinelli-Gentile-Aradori
Gallinari-Datome
Melli-Pascolo
Bargnani-Cusin

12th could be a 3&D (Cerella or Abass)

Sick roster, the talent is pouring off on it. I would definitely take Flaccadori over Aradori even though he is young and doesn't have much international experience. He is a superb all-around combo-guard candidate, the most complete Italian talent who has variety in his gamestyle there when you look at what his experienced teammates are capable of doing in general. I've watched him in three games this season and did awesome jobs against Karşıyaka, signaled for the bright future. A little bit skinny but definitely doesn't get away from contact on defense, such an interesting talent. I know that Aradori has played quite good so far in Italy but as the matter of investment for the future, I would fill that spot with Flaccadori.

Looking forward to watching Italy, extremely fun team to watch. It will be interesting to see what changes is Messina going to bring after spending all year absorbing Spurs' system. His last couple of years in Europe hurt a bit his reputation.

Yes Flaccadori played a great season in Eurocup and he is a very talented player, but actually i prefer Aradori or Della Valle over him!

In only two weeks with full roster i think will be very hard to see a lot of changes :D

I hope only he wll give more minutes to our bench!

What odds are you fellows giving on the Italian team qualifying for the Olympics? What do you think are the chances of success? Which opponent worries you more, Greece or Croatia?

Good chance, but in Italy we often underrate our players,so less than 33% :D

Actually I don't know,I must see the final roster, however i think that play in front of 15000 italian fans will be great factor for us

Greece, because the have players with winner mentality that play important games like final 4,Bouroussis played great season,Giannis you know that he could be in Area Fiba and their backcourt player have great skills in defense!

Instead Croatia like us is an offensive team with poor skills on defensive side!

Also like your PG at least a little better. Croatia is awful at the PG position.

Today Messina, after the final of Trento's tournament will name the 16-man preliminary squad!

I think Polonara and Vitali won't be out, maybe also Poeta!

Possible outsider Bruno Cerella :D

in my opinion these are final 16:

Hackett-Cinciarini-De Nicolao
Belinelli-Aradori-Della Valle-Cerella
Datome-Gentile-Abass
Gallinari-Melli-Pascolo
Bargnani-Cusin-Cervi
