Israeli female league 2011/2012 season is canceled

I didn't follow much. All I know that there was a strike of the Israeli players, Elizur Ramla supported the Israeli players while Ramat Hasharon was on the other side...
I don't really know how it got to this point that a league is totally being canceled.

The basketball association wanted to allow 4 foreigners, the Israeli players didn't like it and wanted to strike and the association decided to simply cancel the season. that's at least what I understood.

It's not canceled , it's "canceled" : negotiations continue.

I'm generally against strikes , but here I'm on players side : Israelis won't get much playing time under the current rules. Woman basketball isn't so intense & up tempo as men is, so 4 WNBA players allowed have no prob to play 40 minutes each , leaving only 40 min chunk for all Israelis.

WTF is this, "winter league" for WNBA or a league to develop Israeli NT players?
