I searched in the internet and i found that some think he is really good and others think he is really overated...

he is not tall (1.85), not athletic, not pure PG but he used to play that position, but he has good shooting abilities...

he made a great name in the NCAA and i understand that a player like him couldnt play in the NBA but could he make an impact in europe?

Oly is trying to "make" him a european so that he can play instead of Maces,
is he such a good shooter in order to play SG well enough or he would have problems because of his height...?

i guess that the rest of Oly guards will have to share Maces' playing time playing instead of him... can McNamara play Maces' role for a few minutes or he can only play PG?

(I am sure you understand that Maces' injury has made Oly fans really worried :( )

what kind of thread is this??Big Sofo,McNamara....bla bla...Olympiacos fans are really interesting...We will see whether he is good or not when the games start...

you think your replies are more interesting??? bla bla bla

i didnt ask to predict if he will play well
i asked the opinion of someone who has seen him play!
i think its normal to ask the opinion for a player you havent seen

you had nothing to say and you made a useless reply

i agree i don't understand why we have to open a new thread every time we have a guestion.you can make the question in another thread.

as for oly fans being interesting no comment!

kokkinevasilia i understand you are worried but we have to wait and see what will happen!

sorry man i like u but this thread has no meaning!
If he is good we will see it in the very near future.
One thing i can say about him is, that he isn't Mace :)

Mcnamara will be a great player for europe.I am not sure about the impact that he can give in his first year in europe, but if he'll stay in europe for a couple of years he probably can be a very good player.
Mcnamara didn't get to the nba because lack of athleticism and bad size.
His not a pure point guard, more like a combo-guard.He shoots the ball very well with great accuracy, has a nice court vision, but he is a bad desicion maker.
All in all,im sure that if Oly will keep him not just till the end of this season, they will get a terrific player.About this year?thats a big question.

Some of u red fans don't even know the nicknames of the player u idolize. It's Macas or Mace or even better Macijauskas. Check the correct spelling thread in the united nations section if u are not sure about a name. You will probably find the correct spelling there

I call him mace because his real name is too long and i'm too old and bored to type it whole (don;t forget his nickname has 1 letter more :)) so let me call him mace

let's say... a bit more versatile Milan Tomić...
I agree with Manu Ginobili here, he should be great, even if not the first year

I didn't say Mace was wrong. Maces is wrong. And of course u can even call him "Zacharias" for that matter- i don't really care and for sure i am not the one to tell u how u should call him. Just stated a repeated mistake and the controversy of praising him all the time while not even knowing his name:rolleyes:

i dont speak lithuanian sorry,
i dont know why macas or maces is wrong and i dont really care,
i dont need to know his nickname so that i can i idolise him, i idolise him because of his abilities,
so i can call him maces or arvydakaros and he still be the same player, i watch bball long enough so i dont care at all what is his nickname,
hell the wise athletic journalists in Greece were calling oly's Eddie Johnson in 1995 "Fast Eddie" lol

controversy?!?!
not knowing his name(?! minos macas isnt his name) doesnt mean you dont know what his capable of...
Skountis and Xatzipaparas know all the nicknames and the terms,
they even say paint! and all these malakies, do they know bball?! hell no!

I watch bball, i dont care about learning nicks...

there were 8 replies and 7 of them were OFF-TOPIC
all right, then one moderator should just move this thread to the NCAA forum,
someone who watches NCAA could care to make a proper reply, besides nobody seems to write there so i don't think you would have a problem...

any Mod to move this thread?
problem solved... everyone is happy now... :)

agreed 100% @ times he does have bad decision making skills. people say he is over rated some people say he isnt.i guess it's based ont he perspective on the fans. the people that probably stated he was over rated were not Syracuse University fans, although some probably were. As a syracuse University fans I am inclined to say he isnt over rated although i must agree he makes bad decisions @ times, when he is stone cold and cant make baskets everytihng else abo him falls apart and thats when he jsut needs to be benched and let him not ruin the flow of the game. if he is on par with his everyday skills then he'll do fine and make good decisions.

I guess the way I see it form the 4 yrs he was in the Syracuse starting lineup was this. He made the good plays and decisions when he had good players around him. i.e. hakim warrick, carmelo anthony, josh pace, etc
his senior year however no one ever really stepped up and he had to carry the team pretty much himself, sometimes he made bad judgement just because everyone else kind of did nothing and didnt step up. So if Olympiakos can get him inth e groove of team chemistry along with their good players he will do fine, btu this does not mean he wont have bad days.

In terms of being the "impact" player on the first season, I don't know about that Kokkinos, something we already discussed before. He will need time to gel with his teammates and get used to the different atmoshpere around him on and off the court.

Someone here stated he is mroe of a combo guard, i second that also. he isnt a pure pg for reasons his bad decisions sometimes doesnt set up plays, but he is a shooter like an sg just udnersized to be one. I wonder if Oly would ever use him and another starting pg @ the same time so they could have two pentrators as well as good visionaries for passing and if need be for McNamara to take the shoot if he is open.

Phantim thats why i started this thread, becauso of Macas' injury i guess he will have to play more mins and be more a shooter-scorer

Penn will be the starting PG and he is 5 11, i dont know if it could work having two short guards at the same time...

Oly has the players to give him a good pass to make a shot, so I guess if Gerson will be able to use his shooting ability...

He can be a 1 or 2 as his game will get better because his NEW teammates will know more of the team game so fans will think he s become a better passer but it will just high basketball IQ smarter players around him . He will love it on his new team. Great shooter and great clutch shooter He ll make an impact right away He s never had any trouble getting his shot off because of his size and hes slow just like Papa,
Span ,and the rest of the Greek guards HA Go Hellas

I think that McNamara is as good as it gets. Without injuries he would propably play in the NBA right now.

Olympiakos will certainly get a winner and a proven scorer. Like some people have already pointed out McNamara has a tendency to take ill-advised shots, but given good teammates I can see him as a team guy.

I agree that it could take atleast a year for McNamara to start delivering, but then again he has the talent to deliver right from the start.

To the OLY fans out there. what's going on w/ Mcnamara, I know this board sort of went down. Just would like an update on McNamara? Any stats?

He was released by the team (by mutual agreement) about 10 days ago.

He's got no future anywhere. Overweight, undersized, unathletic streak shooters don't play professional basketball, period.
