Well, basketball is not math, and the score between different teams does not mean too much. The difference between a 3 point loss and a 6 point loss is an extra missed 3 pointer. I saw the game between CHN vs LIB and JOR earlier, one thing they have in common is that CHN is in control of the whole situation. Even though both LIB and JOR come in very close, in both occasions CHN pulled away with one or two nice plays.
SOme of the body languages have shown me that CHN player never thought about losing either games. One of the difference is that by the end of the game, when LIB/JOR scored a critical shot and came in close, their players jumped up and down and cheered like there's no tomorrow, but when CHN returned the favor one play later, their player/bench was relatively calm. Yesterday when WZZ shot a 2 and 1 when JOR was like 3 point behind with 20 seconds left, he and his teammate were pretty calm, and if you saw his face on the TV, he has very little emotions. No panic, no hugging, no tear dropping drama. IT's almost like saying "I told you we got this one". That WZZ shot eventually crippled the JOR plan because now they were forced to rush 3 pointers which never hit. Both JOR and LIB came really close, but as you might aware, 1 point loss is a loss.
I don't know how many times CHN have won this cup, but it seem like that their players have such a psychological supeority over their asian rivals that they can't see themselves losing. It is common to be scared or panic when your rival is like 1 point behind, you, but for CHN team last night, That thought of "omg we are screwed tonight" doesn't seems to be there. Even though many teams (Like JOR and LIB) have shown that they are up there with the "big boys", CHN still have the " I am better than you" mentality. No one can tell how long this mentality will last, but last night and the night before, I saw this kind of attitude towards LIB and JOR.
If I have to rate those three teams (i don't know Iran too much)
i would rank
0. CHN with yao
1. CHN with out yao
2. LIB (physical games w/ good bigs beat guards, the paint is where games are won, or lost)
3. JOR (they have shown that they can beat LIB when things are going alright, but i would rank a guard oriented team behind a Big man oriented team, if they seem to be on the same level)
