Current Pacers and their similar characteristics of the 90s Knicks

The current Pacers team definitely reminds me of my favourite team of all time: the 90s Knicks.

I can see why these Pacers could be the ones who could upset the Heat.

However, if the Pacers cannot accomplish this feat this year, I'm sure they'll get the Heat next year.

Their tough, rugged and physical style of play counter-acts the fast, free flowing, slamma jamma momma of the Heat.

Aren't they more similar to the Pistons (recent championship run) though? They are #1 in defense and you really don't have a superstar (but lots of good players) in that line-up.

Danny Granger suited up but looked rusty and far from his form last year. That's expected for his first game, but the touches he used to enjoy in the sidelines of the reverse squad and high opposite from the Hibbert reverse quad is not there. Most of the time, his teammates deferred to a cutting or rotating Paul George.

Indiana's offense dynamically changed based on times possessions since Granger went down in the pre-season and the emergence of Paul George.

Still, a healthy Granger and an aggressive George allows them duplicity in the wings of Frank Vogel's center quad with Hibbert / West will have two cutting wings or two folding shooters. We'll see how Vogel and co. adjusts with Granger's presence

Forward Danny Granger undergoes knee surgery and will miss the remainder of the season.

Forward David West stated that he would like to re-sign for long term with the Pacers. Meanwhile, Danny Granger stated that he is planning to invest in strengthening programs to be ready for the next season.

Indiana Pacers sign CJ Watson to a two year deal. This upgrades their point guard depth.

Also, the Indiana Pacers are expected to make an offer to New York Knicks restricted free agent, Chris Copeland.

Pacers received veteran forward / center Luis Scola from the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Gerald Green and Miles Plumlee.

The Pacers were one win away from reaching the finals last season, and that's with a crappy bench. Now that they will Danny Granger back in the fold, not only will their starting lineup get a boost, they also now feature a much improved second unit with Scola, Copeland, Stephenson and Watson!

With an improved bench mob, Roy Hibbert responds with an offseason workout aimed at building more muscle. For one, the effort is lauded.

Pacers adds a veteran in Rasual Butler, who played with their summer league. Word on the wire is, Butler inked a non-guaranteed contract.

It is reported that George and the Pacers are nearing a deal for a contract extension.

Paul George and the Pacers have agreed in a five year contract extension. George entering his fourth season, could surpass the remarkable improvement he posted last season where his numbers flew across the boards. Pacers also welcome the return of Danny Granger and they are hoping that George and Granger will re-ignite the quad.

Danny Granger will miss the first three weeks of the season as the medical team had suggested that he rests his strained calf.
