Sounds like Indiana might not want to keep Frank Vogel, but they can't find anybody else better than him.

I agree. Off-season came early with the Pacers and it is still a long off-season until the next NBA season where the Pacers won't commit just yet with Frank Vogel as there are still coaches out there with either expiring contracts or free agent coaches with better track records. Same goes for Vogel, he can also entertain offers not just from the NBA, but as well as from Schools.

Vogel looks for new assistants

Interim Head Coach Frank Vogel has announced that current Assistant Coaches Jay DeFruscio, Walter McCarty and Vitaly Potapenko will no longer be with the team for no season. Long time assistant coach Dan Burke is expected to stay with the team.

The announcement came after a meeting with Pacers President Larry Bird where it is reported that Bird urged Vogel to look and hire new personnel around him.

Will this be the year the Pacers start putting it together? I love Darren Collison at the point!

I think Collinson was the reason why the didn't perfom better. Everyody was expecting Collinson to put the same type of numbers that he did in New orleans, 7-10 assists, 15-18 points but he could not deliver it.

According to ESPN Radio, the Indiana Pacers and interim head coach Frank Vogel are close on agreeing on a new contract.

It is reported that the Indiana Pacers are set to interview former Los Angeles Lakers Assistant Coach Brian Shaw for an Assistant Coach position within the team.

The Indiana Pacers drafted Kawhi Leonard at 15th Overall but traded Leonard to the San Antonio Spurs for point guard George Hill. Later in the day, the Pacers drafted Latvia's Davis Bertans at 42nd Overall and will also ship Bertans to the Spurs.

The Pacers now have a solid point guard rotation as Hill joins Darren Collison to share point guard duties.

Pacers fans on the Indianapolis paper website seem to be happy about this. The Pacers are my other team (next to the Cavs), so I guess I'm glad that they just hired him without a very long process.

Apparently Larry Bird wanted to get an experienced coaching staff behind Vogel. What experience is that? Brian Shaw? Walter McCartney? Vitaly Potapenko? Shaw has some playing experience, but not much coaching. Oh well.

I think this team is on the move. Hopefully we'll see Roy Hibbert get in another good year along with Hansbrough, who shot up midseason.

I commend Indiana as well for hiring the coach that took the team to the playoffs since taking over when O'Brien was fired.

Shaw has plenty on assistant coaching experience with the Los Angeles Lakers where Shaw was hired in 2005 and have been with the Lakers until this summer of 2011. So Shaw does bring a bit of championship experience and first hand experience under Jackson. Shaw will be fine as the lead assistant coach.

On McCarthy and Potapenko, the Pacers are not renewing their contracts as parties are expected to part. Let's see how Vogel fill out his coaching staff.

Former Portland Trailblazers General Manager Kevin Pritchard has joined the Indiana Pacers Front Court as a Director of Player Personnel.

The Indiana Pacers have formally introduced former Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Brian Shaw as the "Associate Head Coach" which is also a tag for Lead Assistant Coach.

The Indiana Pacers have announced that Jim Boleyn and Dan Burke has joined the staff of head coach Frank Vogel.
