Greece beats Spain in close game to take gold.

Serbia beats USA in close game to take bronze.

That said, I watch out for Brazil, Croatia, or Puerto Rico who could shake up things.

Sofo and Bourousis were never the key players for Greek NT. So even if they won't participate to the WC that wont be a disaster for Greece.

Don't forget that our most value player, D.Diamantidis didn't make it out for the Eurobasket of 2009 and Greece won the Bronze medal with out him.

Greece has got many good players and can substitute almost anyone.

But as far as we know according to the Greek media, both players will play sofo & Bourousis.

Diamantidis has never been the most valuable player of the national team. In 2005 he was probably the third most valuable, with Papaloukas (1) and Zisis (2) being the most valuable.

In 2006, the most valuable were Spanoulis (1), Papaloukas (2), Schortsanitis (3).

In 2007, it was Spanoulis first and after that it was Dikoudis second. Diamantidis was probably third or fourth that year along with Papaloukas.

In 2008, it was (1) Spanoulis, (2) Bourousis, (3) Fotsis, (4) Papaloukas. Diamantidis might have been 5th.

In 2009, Greece won the bronze medal without him even playing, as guys like Spanoulis (1), Schortsanitis (2), Bourousis (3), Fotsis (4) stepped for them.

The Diamantidis worship has to stop. GET REAL. My goodness....some PAO fans overrate him even more than some Barca fans overrate Rubio. Diamantidis has NEVER been the most valuable player of Greece's national team. NEVER.

If anything, he has often been a big disappointment. You cannot be taken seriously if you are going to claim Diamantidis is Greece's most valuable player.

Is this for real?

Best defensive player on Greece.

Scores & has great defensive plays in extremely crucial moments.

He might not be Greece's LEADER, but he's always a Top 2-3 player. He's the only player with Top 3 performance from 2004 until now.
He cannot be the LEADER, because his game is not offensive. He's the player that will kill the opponent in a one on one defence, the player that will get the rebound that everyone thought was gonna end up into a second chance, the player that could follow the opponent on transition and come up with a great block, the player that will get you the steals, and in some moments, he can score threes as well. And now with Kazlauskas he can average 12ppg as well and become that leader.

He was the crucial missing piece in 2009.

It's interesting that European teams don't lose to teams from other continents in your prediction.

About Serbia, I had a feeling that we're a bit overrated here, but after this incident with Greece, reaching the semifinal looks really tough to accomplish.

Here's what Duda Ivkovic said about our chances now:

Translation:
We are going to the World Cup with an atmosphere which we didn't plan. In this situation, we are heading randomly, game by game. Our most important match is the first one, against Angola, and at the moment we don't know which players we'll be at our disposal. You're asking about Medals. We are in the process of creating a team, last years medal has been won by accident, not by team quality. At the moment, I can't tell you if we'll proceed from group stage, let alone talk about winning titles

I don't understand, you mean Turkey will be affected by ramadan? I don't know, but I've read before that Hakeem Olajuwon plays better during ramadan. Maybe someone else more familiar with this can explain...

Ramadan is a month when muslims don't eat and drink anything between sunrise and sunset. This helps to understand poor people. After that month muslims gave money to poor people,we call it as Zekat. As you see there is no explanation about Hakeem Olajuwon played better during Ramadan :) If there were an effect because of Ramadan,I think that would be hunger, thirst or frailty :)

That's the point. If you play a game, let's say, at 18:00 and you haven't eaten anything, and what is worse, you haven't DRINK anything, you'll suffer. You can't have enough stamina.

Anyway, do the turkish players respect the Ramadan fasting 100% or are they allowed at least to drink or something?

I don't think they are fasting.Because if they fast, they will break fast at 20:00 .And I don't think most of the players are religious in Turkish NT.

the player that will eventually spit on the opponent if all isn't going well..
you can continue..

Are you saying that Sofo was not pivotal to our success (bronze medal) last year? And bourousis too? Did you see the games? Do you watch basketball at all??

Diamantidis is the shadow of a player that he was in the previous years. Potential success of this Greek team will not depend on Diamantidis... I am sure of this.

So i believe that if he wont play, Vougioukas can do the job and fill the gap of his loss.

OK - take your green glasses off..... are you seriously even comparing Bourousis with Vougioukas? Bourousis has consistently performed well on the highest level in the past years. And you are saying that the Greek NT will be more complete with a player that has hardly proved himself yet?????? Coach C even spoke of Bourousis with very high regard.... seriously dude... wake up.
