While watching the game I told my friend that Hedo is after Teodosic Serbias best player. He tried so hard for us to win, but the rest of our young team simply couldn't follow:D

i agree with you, i think Hedo was the worst player yesterday probably because of his injury, i hope in the quarter final, he will do better, because obviously we need him.. by the way has aybody know that why Atsur didn't play yesterday?

Hedo was an absolute force in defense. in a defensive game like this , offense doesnt matter that much as long as you win , yes turkey would win more comfortably if only hedo made those shots .

Serb team is quite talented , and they showed their sharpshooting abilities by draining very difficult shots in criticial moments ,

teodosic played well , but turkish defense was very solid

congratulations to the both teams

man what a game ! tanjevic & hedo was about to cost us the game, otherwise it would be a much more easier win for turkey.

well i want to start with tanjevic because i am more mad at him; his coaching is getting worser as the tournament proceeded, at least in terms of rotation. at the first round, everything seemed very promising. he was using all of the squad with great confidence( except the injuries of course), indicating that he is willing to get everyone feel involved in the race and keep his big guns fresh until the very end. but with the start of second round, he just get back to a 8 man rotation instead of 11.

Okay we must ask; what is the goal for Turkey in this tournament ? to beat flashy teams like spain & serbia or get a medal ? for me, if the goal is medal (as it should be ) both of spain & serbia games were expendable. instead of focusing on 6 of 6 wins, we should have focused on keeping the team together and keeping them rested. now our teams is neither together nor rested.

i dont believe its together because, tanjevic made it clear that he prefers an 1/16 shooting, absent minded, tired as hell hidayet over a very energetic, very productive (3 rebounds + 2 assists + 2 steals in just 10 minutes !!)2/3 shooting Sinan. If a coach believes that this Sinan could not make a better impact on the team than Hedo in the second half ( as he did not played ever again after this 10 mins) that coach cant expect to get any respect from the player. this is the very same thing that goes between tanjevic and other very talented turkish players like, mehmet okur, erkan erdogan and kaya peker. which, time to time we miss desperately. tanjevic needs to give minutes to people who deserves them instead of babysitting his favorites. all these guys came from a 2-month camping period. If you wont use them why did you cost them a nice summer anyway ?? this attitude of the coach, i believe, do harm to the relations of players as well. think about it for a moment, you give your everything on defense to steal the ball and on the other end someone just jacks up a three or a fadeaway carelessly, without even giving the set play a chance (and coach allows this guy to do it 15 times)

hedo; oh boy, oh boy.. i watched him since he was 19, and did not saw a single game he screwed up so badly (actually i never saw a career player screw up that bad before). yes i saw his bad games, but i know what they are like; despite his haters claimed here, they are not that much and definetely were not that bad either. shooting; i am not sure but among the players taking 15+ shots, his low percentage can be the world record in professional basketball (at least at international level). everyone is making excuse for his sore knee, but then again, who told him to throw the ball to the basket nearly everytime he gets the possesion ? i mean, it may hurt very bad, and its admirable that he doesnt want to leave "his team"(!) alone. but whats up with all those jordanesque fade aways and threes over double teams ? he can barely make %40 of these shots in his best day and taking them while suffering from injury ?? man, this guy sometimes really looses it.

play-making; ok shots are not falling, but isnt one of his games strength depends on his ability of playmaking ?? i mean he put 13 assists against celtics in nba playoffs but cant buy him 3 assists in 39 minutes against Serbia ?? ok, also forget about dishing assists. how many times he drove to the basket to unbalance serbian defence or draw some fauls ? instead of that, on many possessions he grabbed the ball, stood there for 15 seconds like he had a brain freeze, and then shot over a double team. how is this helping "your team" big man ??

i see that people tend to emphise his defensive contrubitions of 4 steals and 5 rebounds. well, as i said, sinan showed the capacity that he could do a lot more than that in just a 10 mins span. besides, dont just look at the figures. on many possessions hidayet did not return to defense after he took a bad shot, simply because he was upset with his shot or because he did not get the call, not because he was injured. that attitude cost Turkey at least couple of unguarded 3's. now talk about good defense effort !

i also see that people tend to value hedo's presence on court on mental level. him being on the court, team feels more confident etc. Well, this is the biggest shittiest piece of crap i have ever heard. This can be a mental leverage for the supporters who lack knowledge of basketball basics and often overvalues the capacity of star players/teams either for or against. dont afraid to say that seeing hedo on court just makes you relax, its no shame. but thinking that his presence help teammates not to afraid from the opposing team is simply lame, a huge disrespect to the other members of the NT. they are the best basketball players of a 70 million nation, not 7-year old babygirls who need someone to hold their hand while crossing the street for gods sake! Enough said !!!

overall, turkey gets the win, but i am afraid at a very unnecessarily high cost. Tanjevic clearly ruining the balance in the rotation, thus ruining the team chemistry so far in this round. plus, Hedo get to play 38 minutes with a knee injury, now will he be able to play at full capacity ever again in this tournament ? ersan, our biggest hope for winning this tournament get to play 39 minutes. Kerem, our overachieving guard so far, put so much effort that he injured his back during the game. and we have not played a single elimination game yet, God help us.

Serbia showed what a great basketball country they are. they will have a great NT in couple of years. And -maybe not 2010 but afterwards- they will be among the strongest favorites of many competitions to come. I wish i could tell the same for Turkey :(

two more years with Banos and Teodosic will be worst.
Tepic will play 1o min with Zeljko.
Ertseg already destroyed.

i have watched all Lakers - Magic, Boston - Magic games and i want to say something. Hedo is not a leader, he was not a leader before and will not become in future. He is just Peja Stojakovic with better dribbling ability. He just need to learn stand down otherwise next tournament will be the last for him.

I was basketball player many years ago but unfortunately had two surgery on my knees. After the surgery i went to basketball court with my friends ( i was sitting on a wheelchair ) and tried couple of 3 shots from 6-7m. Believe me my fg is like 12/20 even i was on a wheelchair. But Hedo was totally terrible and i couldnt believe my eyes how can an nba player play like this...

Everybody can have games like that, if you had played the game you should know better, you didn't play against this hard fought Srbija defense with those injuries you had right so, you can't make the comparison just like that.:D Maybe we can say Hedo had the dark side in him or he just wanted make 1-2 jumpshots, and tried to stay in the game in a way that he can still get the most of the attention of the Serbija defense. Do you know how much more Hedo does just by standing on the court yesterday on offense, how much space he creates within the set offense, how much he bothers the defense, you can never leave that guy open. He is always a plus on the court. I've played the game, i've coached the game, Tanjevic resistence on Hedo was terrific, that's what a real coach does.

Tanjevic's all coaching moves in this tournament so far is right on track. He is at his peak now. Inbound play for the last 3 secs was off the hook incredible!

And also if you say Hedo is just a Peja. i would disaggree with you here; He is more more more than a Peja. I won't get into any details, if you like we can by the way, in an another thread ofcourse watch out for the Magic this year, things will be different there:)

Those are all my opinions ofcourse you aggree or not.:)

PS: You remember SouL InvictuS, we have talked before the game night about Hedo, i just have a feeling you and your photos have something with his playing not good.:p

You use your legs to run or hands to take shots. But if you can use your head you don`t have to be in perfect day, you don`t have to score +30, you just play the way you are in those days and do what you can do not more.

In my opinion Hedo lacks at that point. He never accept he sucks. Maybe you can put some mirrors near the court and he can watch himself while sucking. :D

Btw if he sucks again i will not be merciful on my pics.

just because Hedo performed really badly at few games doesn't mean he is an average player and doesn't have some special skills etc. we also couldn't believe our eyes, but there must be an explanation.. There are many games
we won thanks to him (his last moves or taking the last minute risks)
one of his important skill is the stability so i am sure we will watch a different Hedo in the next games, maybe in the more important games like quarter or semi final..

I had the stangest dreams last night. I was talking to Goran Dragič and he said he faked the injury becouse other Slovenian guys don't put so much effort in the game like he does and he doesn't want to play with a team who doesn't fight till the end. Then Duda Ivkovič pops up dressed like a friggin samurai master. Then he commanded two of his students that they must destory us. I almost shit my pants and ran away but two Serbian gorillas with funny japanesse accents were chasing after me. I understood nothing what they were saying although something sounded familiar like MARŠ U PIČKO MATERINU. When they finally caught me I realized one of them was Nenad Krstić dressed in a blue Serbian dress with a red head band and with a long sword trying to kill me. I managed to resist for few minutes and then Goran comes out of nowhere like a thunderbolt stealing a sword from the other Serbian dude and then we battled through the hallways of Lodz arena winning us a gold medal. :D:D:D

This is the first smart remark about Hedos performance. It is intangibles that win basketball game. He demands double team by just being on the court. As he is one of the rare players in this tournament who can create his own shot you must guard him closely all the time. That means you are spreading the defense so Ilyasova&co can have their "happy time".

You should seriously consider only watching slovenian games and reading this forum once or twice a day ... I would hate to see you talking about Marc hitting on you and then Pau dressed as samurai chase you down for violating his brother :D

its very hard for any foreigner to become the leader of an nba team. simply because public wants to see their native stars handling everything and be the hero at the end of the day. so nba provides that, afterall they are not much different from hollywood when it comes to entertaining people. can you imagine a batman movie in which robin saves the day ? it should be batman, always batman. americans like this way, plain and simple. coaches, part of this industry, generally been very reluctant to give such leading roles to foreign players. even they grant such roles, those players are not respected as the leader of these teams anyway. players even more talented and influential than hedo suffers this problem. why would hedo be an exception ?

having said that, first of all, i have to disagree with you especially for what you said about hedo's leadership and celtics series. he was definetely the most important player in the 6th and 7th game, which helped magic to proceed to finals, it was celtics first 7th game loss (at home) in last 25 years. he was also very solid against the cavaliers. most people predicted a 4-1, or 4-2 in favor of cavaliers but magic proved that wrong. hedo averaged 17,2/6,3/6,7 at this round. who was the leader of this team you think while marching to the finals ? howard was frustrated with coaching, nelson was injured and lewis -altough shooting crutial shots- showed no personality or team play. it was this playoff performance and leadersip that helped hidayet to be one of the top 3 free agents this summer. i was kind of bored how every day another team was making a move to acquire him.

you are right though, in saying that how an elite nba player can produce that poor throghout a game. he has been known as a great closer, showing no emotions or stress even during the most crucial moments. but last night he showed that he can be fragile and self-concerned, which bothers me a lot.

I think that Don Nelson or Greg Popovic don't share your opinion...

Well...Imagine what my dreams would be like if I actually did smoke something. :D

about refs, nobody fouled Erden in two cases (last in game-first in OT)
the foul on Macvane was fragrant ,maybe the refs were proSerbs in whole game (wife bought a bed fron IKEA and i was...)but i saw the last minutes and OT .
Tanievits kept Hedo with awful statistics, big mistake ...

Refs are pro-Greek that's well known:) You probably didn't see the fouls when Teodosic was driving inside the paint or when Savas give Raduljica elbow and he didn't receive flagrant and there was many situation like that. But refs are not responsible for our loss or Turkey win.

I think only rakocevic is important miss for serbia. i hope, you would not say stojakovic would score against our frontline defense. You assume peja's form in eurobasket 2001 Turkey :D

and other player sasha, jaric, radmanovic and vujacic

Tepic, Teodosic, Tripkovic are same level player as jaric or vujanic, maybe better because your nba player didn't play too much( max average -radmanovic-16min) like your euroleague player . What i told, only rakocevic is different from them. Rakocevic make different

If you talk about normal conditions you should say out miss too :D

Mehmet Okur- Nba allstar
Kaya Peker- Efes Pilsen Center
Kerem Gönlüm- Efes Pilsen Power Forward

and many others like Serkan Erdoğan(maybe in bad form but quality player) ... :D

Okur plays like crap for the national team. While Milicic showed that he can be dominant player in international competition. We are missing more quality players than you:Milicic,Rakocevic,Stojakovic,Radmanovic,Pavlovic etc.
