there isn't much difference between the 2 teams.

We are clearly stronger than them. We are tired not only physicaly, also mentaly. We will play more aggresively in quarter final. This can the Serbia's highest potential against us. I hope we could meet them in semi-final and This can be understood more clearly.

If we meet turkey in normal conditions we will beat them so easily THEN Stojakovic will play, Rakocevic will play, Radmanovic will play, Sasha Pavlovic will play, Vujanic will play, Marko Jaric will play , Darko Milicic will play AND u tallk ABOUT NORMAL CONDITIONS:eek::eek::eek:

I would be happy if They play in this tournament. Be sure In Turkey , Yugoslavian team is the most liked team ofcourse after our own team.If you ask me, I always support you in tournament because of qulity players of you but In last years , I can't see this and you can't be like past earlier than 10 years. And If Stojakovic ,Rakocevic ,Radmanovic ,Pavlovic ,Vujanic,Darko Milicic,Marko Jaric plays, the game would be equal game again. I wish I have a chance to see my team against that squad.

I think only rakocevic is important miss for serbia. i hope, you would not say stojakovic would score against our frontline defense. You assume peja's form in eurobasket 2001 Turkey :D

and other player sasha, jaric, radmanovic and vujacic

Tepic, Teodosic, Tripkovic are same level player as jaric or vujanic, maybe better because your nba player didn't play too much( max average -radmanovic-16min) like your euroleague player . What i told, only rakocevic is different from them. Rakocevic make different

If you talk about normal conditions you should say out miss too :D

Mehmet Okur- Nba allstar
Kaya Peker- Efes Pilsen Center
Kerem Gönlüm- Efes Pilsen Power Forward

and many others like Serkan Erdoğan(maybe in bad form but quality player) ... :D

First we r all gone in wrong direction here we fight for nothing, I wont too congratulation turkey for a win and hope we will met in final.

That was a textbook charge. Good call.

It is not a matter of moving feet but a matter of where the attacking player hits.

If it's in the middle of the chest (and the defender is not moving against the offensive player), than it's a charge, no matter if they were both moving or not. The defender has conquered that space and the offensive player is entering, hence the charge.

If the attacker hits on the defender's side, it's a defensive foul.

I didn't know that of course intense of the game was also a factor for right then , that's very informative of you guys thank you very much.

There i found a good article about the match on the official website. Here you go.

Turkey needed overtime but defeated Serbia 69-64 on Monday night to remain undefeated at the EuroBasket and hand the Blues just their second loss in the tournament.

Ersan Ilyasova poured in 22 points and had 11 rebounds for Turkey, who overcame a woeful night at the free-throw line (18 of 31, 58%) and a one-of-16 (6%) shooting effort from the floor by Hedo Turkoglu.

Hidayet Türkoglu did not have a good night on offense, but he did record four steals and nearly won the game with a tip in at the buzzer.
Defense has been winning games for Bogdan Tanjevic's team and so it proved again as they forced their opponents to turn the ball over 18 times.

Turkoglu had a game-high four steals and almost won the game at the end of regulation when he attempted to tip-in Kerem Tunceri's runner.

Referees went to the scorer's table and looked at a video replay, determining that the buzzer sounded before the ball had left the superstar's hands.

In the overtime, Semih Erdin was fouled by Nemanja Bjelica and made one of two attempts at the free-throw line for a 65-64 advantage.

Serbia then went the entire extra period without scoring a point.

"I think my players were under a lot of pressure and that's the reason why we didn't score a point in overtime," Serbia coach Dusan Ivkovic said. "The key to this defeat was that we made so many turnovers and had a very low field goal percentage.

everithing is true my friend tnx for posting this.

- I really wanted to fly over and slap Hedo's head somehow during the game. If he's injured, he should not play so much. If we mentally need his presence on the court (this is bullshit anyway), he should think before selling the whole team's effort by shooting so carelessly. If we need his size and defense, then same as the previous, he should not harm us in offense. Anyway, I am still a fan of him, but he drives us crazy sometimes... happens..

- Ersan Ilyasova... this kid is amazing. Not for scoring or rebounding only... I don't know if everything could be seen on tv... Thanks for everything.

- Omer Asik... very good game, both in defense and offense. FTs got into his head, it was not normal, it happens.

- Turkish guys (cannot call them fans, nothing) in the arena... ok, i will not write, but I'm ashamed of most of them...

Can anybody spell ignorant?
Move this, I never said that... It was Barbo.

Great game... NOT! Festival of missed chances!
Very physical, very good defenses, Turkey had some great offensive rebounds.
[English or provide translation]
Marković needs to practice some more on three pointers.

Raduljica should have played more, I think. Nothing is lost, players will have time to rest and real competition starts from quarters.

Congrats to Turkey! Congrats to Teo for hitting some threes, if only Tripko followed... Maybe we could have won.

P.S.
I'm seriously concerned for some of the posters from this thread...

Ilyasova is on fire, he played an amazing game and he is the main factor on Turkey's success. IMHO without him Turkey would had not won tonight. I noticed that every time he was out for few min Serbia would get ahead.
What do you mean about the fans?

Well, who ever moved that from my post, is a real jerk...
I didn't see you being that agile on Greeks or Filipinos...

And, yeah, translation was in a row below.

Edit:

Now I see it, it's you Rikhie... Put back what I wrote or I'll do it myself!:D

Feel free, just let it clear that what's next is a translation, I can't guess ;)

Great game. I don't know why some people are saying that it was an ugly game. Because there were no flashy dunks? or there were some missed open shots? I like to see those from time to time, but there's nothing I like more than to see two great defensive minded teams battling for each and every possession.

When I was watching the game I remembered the great Knicks - Heat rivalry at the end of the 1990s. I think both teams deserve equal respect for the way they fought on the floor.

Lots of things has been said, but there's one glaring stat for me which is that Serbia took 25 three point shots while taking 29 two point shots. Some of you said that Serbia missed a couple of three pointers in overtime. True, but they also made some very difficult three pointers at the end of regulation to send the game to overtime.

Well, if you live by the three, you die by the three. In this case, however, I don't believe Serbia wanted to live and die by the three. Rather, it was Turkey's defense that forced Serbia to take so many three pointers. On the other hand, despite Serbia's equally tough defense, Turkey still fed the ball to their big men (took 37 two point shots vs. 20 three point shots) and had a much more balanced game. I think that was one of the biggest factors for Turkey's win.

Congrats to Serbia and best of luck for the rest of the tournament.

Great tenacity, perseverance and a bit of luck – they just dodged the bullet.
Defence seemed solid enough but we all looked to see some well organised offence.I hope they learn some lessons from the mistakes.

As far as I could see there were about a dozen guys with long hats(chanting “allah” and whatnot) amongst the Turkish fans. Those long hats happen to be military/janissary hats from the “ottoman” era.To me and to some Turkish people, ottoman period is theocratical and monarchial-cum-dictatorial times. That is why LEVENSPIEL is disgusted with those creatures. These a-holes:mad: are a peculiar cross breed of rural Turkey and urban Germany.(They speak their parent’s ,grandparent’s quaint rural dialects of Turkey with a German accent.Dear oh dear ,music to our ears ! )
I suppose we cant escape them. They will always be there to rear their ugly heads even in the basketball venues! Come on ! ! !

LONG LIVE MUSTAPHA KEMAL ATATURK! Truly one if not the greatest political figure of the last couple of centuries. If he was English or American everybody would know he he was and what he has done. No offence to our Greek friends, I know he was in a war with you and the ethnical cleansing that you guys together did, but he truly is an inspiration.

While watching the game I told my friend that Hedo is after Teodosic Serbias best player. He tried so hard for us to win, but the rest of our young team simply couldn't follow:D

about refs, nobody fouled Erden in two cases (last in game-first in OT)
the foul on Macvane was fragrant ,maybe the refs were proSerbs in whole game (wife bought a bed fron IKEA and i was...)but i saw the last minutes and OT .
Tanievits kept Hedo with awful statistics, big mistake ...

This Serbian generation, if everything goes as planed in future, will dominate European basketball for a long time. Obviously, the lack of experience in big tournaments like this one, caused the young Serbian players to choke in crucial moments, but they will learn something from it. Congratulations to Turkey, they did the job, and definitely they look like a team which could win the medal ( what metal, I don't know).
