Other than that, I wasn't able to watch the first half, but judging from second half and radio broadcast of 1st one, I don't think Slovenia scored that many 3pts - maybe there were a lot of them comparing to other teams, but compared to previous matches it wasn't anything special.

Only to support my claim:

Slovenia vs. Turkey - FG3P 13/31
Slovenia vs. Serbia - FG3P 9/21
Slovenia vs. Spain - FG3P 9/28

It ıs nothıng to do wıth theır shootıng percentage or the number of your 3s gettıng ın. You were scorıng 75 80 pts ın a game. But ın a low scorıng game thıs much 3s gettıng ın ıs of course hıgh.

2 reasons that lost the game for Turkey...

1) Tanjevıc chose the wrong guys to play ın the fırst half.
2)15 mınutes zone defence ın the second half. We all knew our man to man defence wıll at some poınt lock Slovenıa. And they wıll be more tıred at the end but they just pass the ball and shoot the 3 agaıns zone defence. Sımple as that.
I had no doubt that we wont wın thıs after 1st half but we should play wıth our normal defense.

Congrats to slovenians. They wouldn't miss even if they used their a.. instead of their hands to shoot the ball. I knew Slovenia was a good team but I didn't know they were that good shooters. Wow !! I think Slovenias will be europian champions. Sorry greek and french friends.

If we can stop Diamantidis we stand a chance. but it looks tuff. They are way too exprienced.

And for the turkish fans. You are so self centred and arrogant I can't even believe this. We are being lucky? Maybe so but you should know before the game we have great three point shooters. Now as far as the game goes. 1st quarter Ilyasova vs. Slovenia. You should know you were loosing by 19 until Lakovič was substituted for Klobučar. The best for the worst. And then you started playing zone defense becouse we completly outplayed you. You were playing so individual and if you continue to do so you'll loose more games. And let's talk about luck some more. What about those Ilyasova offensive rebounds and "corrections" he scored in the last quarter. And LOL, the worst possible choise for free throws hits 2 in a row in the most important part of the game. Pleaseeeee.

You should all know this was more of a training game then a real match and both teams should take something out of it. If you don't see this you're completly blinded. In the end, Nachbar and E. Lorbek were being rested and Lakovič too for some time and it was the same on the turkish side with Ilyasova and Turkoglu. We wanted to see how we handle under pressure and what we can do about zone defense. We have a lot of training to and turkish fellows too. I just hope your team isn't so self centred like some of you guys on this forum becouse they'll easily get in trouble. This was far the worst game of Slovenian NT and you could see it from the outerspace both teams are resting and trying some new tactics. But even so we managed to take a win and that's what is the most important. It was a shitty game so I hope we will see each oter again, hopfully in the finals.

This was really a shitti game . I dont know exactlly for Turkey (you guys should know more) but it looked as preparation game . We won . Fine . But that was nothing in compearison to last 4 games we played at tournament . Last 4 games were incredible but this time it looked like we are playing with 60 % .

offense week , defense week ... Like a training . Also I believe that Tanjevič was saving 2 main players in 2 quoter in perpose (to rest them) . But what happend - Slovenia was leading for 19 and the main difference was done w/o Lakovič. Afterwords Turkish team needed to play seriuslly as they wanted to avoid catastrophy . Our guys were just rotating ... all the time and throwing 3 pt shots . aaaa

It looked like Tanjevič and Zdovc have done a compromise - ok we will play zone all the time but you guys should not use centers + you should just train 3 pt shots . And Zdovc sad ok in that case i will allow you to train fast breaks ...
Anyway, If this is the actual status we are coming back to Slovenia very fast...And Turkey as weel .

I am totally in love with the Slovenian team. I cheered for Slovenia with the Slovenians fans there as if it was my team.
I also promissed my friends from an Israeli basketabll forum who are with me that if Slovenia wins this tournament I'll change my nickname in this forum to "Slovenia2009"

Anyway, Lacovich and Semo Udrih are unbelivebale. They both played almoust the whole game (and when Lakovic was substetueted for couple of minutes it cost Slovania many points an more importent the momentum, because of several mistakes by made by Klobucar).
I defended here Lakovic becasue I felt as everybody hush with him (here but not only - there is also Israeli commentator that always makes me mad with his negative comments agains him) but he wans't really one of my favorite players. Until now.

Erzam Lorbek is unbelievable player. He wasn't at his best today, but just by being on the court makes it much easier for the guards.

I just hope Nachbar is OK. I was so in this game, but at the moment of vitory instead of jumping of happiness I caught my head because it seemed that here it comes one more injury... Then I saw that he stood on his feet so I relaxed a little bit.

never like those wins that aren't entirely free of luck... Atsur alone at three pointer while Arslan practicaly broke the defense and could've finished alone... well that's not really my preference.
Otherwise I would strongly disagree to people saying this was one of Slovenian crappiest games in the tournament, considering Turkey was THE most dominant performer so far in the tournament (and don't give me no France, if you do, than watch France - Germany again... if anybody is able to do that actually) and compared to their previous games, I failed to notice half of their ussualy very dominant game in the paint.

Regarding three pointers... do I really want to?...
obviously yes, although please do consider the cynism in this statement... shooting loads of threepointers theoreticaly means either:
-1st it's Italy
-2nd you can't do anything else, trying out the last arsenal desperately after being defeated repeatedly
-3rd your opponent is stacked inside and prefers you shooting from beyond the arc than passing inside, cutting in etc. with ussual side effect of players that ussualy were pretty dominant inside, failing to repeat those performances again...
let's take a vote, shall we?


Great zone by Turkey btw. it's upper part was very aggressive as well as mobile along, with that in mind I am surprised Slovenia managed to keep up and - as that is afterall the main factor in a bball game - at that point it was all a matter of small details that this time went in the right direction for Slovenia.

Well, i've re watched the game and, about last ball we used i've noticed that Engin could have made an extra pass to Hedo(he was open) he had both time and space to make it, but he took it anyway. Nuh it's past now gotto look the future.

I don't know how you Slovenians talk about the crapiness of the game.
Your team loosing player after player with injuries, and unders this circamstanses the prefromance was not less then heroic.
And even if not the injury, the turnament has very tide scedule. You cannot saparate the performance from this fact.

You could see how Lakovic and Udrih sometimes resting on the court on the offence, becasue they had no choise. The centers faced a really good defensivlly centers of Turkey so it was hard to Slovenia under the rim.
Diffensivelly everybody did their best except several times.

I care less about scoring precentages and more about playing the right way for the circamstancess.
So considering everything it was the best game I've seen in this Eurobasket.

Well I believe most of the Turkish fans are very pleased with the defending but that is one-dimensional play.I mean ,can a boxer defeat a kick-boxer? Not very likely!

first of all congratulations Slovenia, what an interesting game it was. it is not about handling the win i guess, it is more about the quality of basketball you play. i mean how can far you can go by scoring three points you think?
it is not enjoyable at all while all the time you are scoring three points instead of playing inside, fighting, doing the things that basketball requires..
however of course it musn't be easy to score that kinda good high, unbeliveable, crazy percentage shooting. i respect that really.. but something is missing.. when this part of missing is completed, you will be an unstoppable team for sure..

Turkey showed they can compete with any team even while being fallen behind , we almost won it. Good 3pt shoot out by slovenia , i knew lakovic would do so.. but i'm sure we'll win the next encounter if we ever get the chance to play against slovenia. this is confidence , not arrogance

you are right, we should have more effective 3 throws shooters like Kutluay or Erdenay in the past.. but we have Atsur who is a good shooter too, however he didn't take the moments yet to show himself.. he just recoverd from the injury maybe thats why.. good luck vs croatia!

I did not mean you should shoot more 3s. You should play more 5 on 5 not 1 on 1.
