Group E, Day 6: Croatia-Germany

OMG:eek:
Two great 3 pointers by Germany

Not 71-69, but 70-68, so close.

Well done Croatia and good effort Germany

Match over!
Congrats Germany though, you fought till the end,and you performed here much better than anyone expected from you!!

Somehow I have the impression that robbe left for Poland. Is saw a Telekom Baskets flag in the hall and he has not posted for some days now in the forum.

He's busy calculating all the eurobasket extra stats team by team and player by player, + the influence from greek & slovenian lobbies on some results

And he's also working on 1/4rs probabilities, plus the percentage of chances of winning for each team if one of the scoring leader scores less than 20 pts above 50% fg and under fg etc etc etc.

And if that's not enough i bet he has some other stuff in the arsenal :p

Both teams needed one more point and the score would be 71:69 for the third time today. :)

Congrats to Croatia for moving on, and congrats to Germany for surpassing a lot of expectations. Given this performance without Dirk, we could be seeing Germany in Turkey next year.

I don't care what anyone says. Schaffartzik is a hell of a basketball player. I can't believe this guy does not play in a Euroleague club.

Hahaha.

Bravo Germany, bravo! Congrats to Croatia for showing composure.

What a game. No wait, what a day! 71-69, 71-69, 70-68.

And if poland was to win against spain tomorrow, germany still deserve that wild card ? :D

Russia 71-69 FYROM
France 71-69 Greece

Germany 68-70 Croatia
they missed 1pt :p

congrats Croatia.. also Germany.

by the way Schaffartzik is good 3pts shooter.

Congrats to both teams.

If Dirk decides to join Germany NT then they would have a wild card most probably.

Hey, I've been here all along. ;)

First congrats to the Croats, better individual class in crunch time, when they were able to count on Ukic and Planinic. Even if I was surprised Loncar's three pointer went in. What the hell happened to Vujcic? Completely out of shape, unmotivated, a completely forgettable tourney for him so far.

As for Germany, the team earned a lot of respect, and rightly so. But I thought that we were at 100% in the wrong games. We should have simply given away the game against Greece, like FYROM did with the games versus France and Greece. FYROM was beatable with this team I believe. We should have been at 100% for that one. But I think throwing away games just like that in some way conflicts with Bauermann's competitive nature. The guy hates losing. This has been a good opportunity for him to show his skills anyway, he's bored with sitting around for three quarters of the year. Clearly he won't say no if there's a good offer from an ambitious foreign team.

Now it's going to be interesting to see whether or not guys like Femerling will find a club. In my opinion he had a very good tournament. An underrated guy who plays extremely good defense and is a nice lowpost option on offense. But you all know him anyway.

Schultze, Jagla [not a fan of him though] and Greene are free agents as well. Benzing will play his first BBL season, Harris will go to college, Staiger [improved significantly throughout the tournament] stays in college, Ohlbrecht will be a starter on a BBL title contender, and Pleiß will be Elton Brown's backup in Bamberg.

Schaffartzik is completely out of his mind. But when his shots are falling, they are falling.

That's actually not far from the truth. :)

Only when I tried to calculate the influence of Greek loby, MS Excel politely told me to look for a new profession.

1. I wan't to congratulate Germany as allways they are fightint to last minute and I wish you all best, you have nice future
2. Vujcic no mather his qualitys was never guy for important matches, same like Kus or Prkacin

For us I can't say a thing because I'm way to emotional and I didn't notice anything besides that I lost two more years of my life

What fun it's been to follow the German Team all summer, first through the U-20 and then the senior team! Gonzaga has a great freshman class coming in, not least Elias Harris. Fun, fun season coming up, with lots of big games on ESPN!

Congrats to Germany!

My hat off to Germany.

German fans must look forward to seeing this team + Dirk + Kaman

Well, put Dirk in, and ball circulation stops again. Players won't get touches, they won't be in rhythm, they won't have confidence, and as a consequence they won't play as well. I think next year the German offense is going to be pretty ugly again. And everyone will be saying what a bad team he is on. ;)

I agree. They were better minus Kaman and Dirk.
