what an exciting match-ups.. turkey-france & spain-greece..
actually i can't wait..

shouldn't it be turkey with NZ and Greece with Spain?

Yeah, you're probably right. At the end of the game they showed standings with NZ in 3rd place but that's probably not truth. Is it? I'm confused. Who did the calculations?

Why are you humiliating my cousin?

1. Lithuania
2. Spain
3. New Zealand
4. France

Period.

In case of draw is the points difference.
Spain + 11
New Zealand -5
France -6

if france lost by 1-11 points they wouldve been second or third ??

this site here explains it all

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_FIBA_World_Championship

New Zealand 5 3 2 424 400 +24 8 1−1 0.9708
France 5 3 2 351 339 +12 8 1−1 0.9595

NZ has a goal average of 0.9708 and France 0.9595

but I'm not sure how they make these calculations, can someone explain?

Edit: Victorious, I just saw the post, thanks

At the end of the preliminary round, any ties will be broken by the following criteria, ordered from the one that will be applied first to the last:

Game results between tied teams
Goal average between games of the tied teams
Goal average for all games of the tied teams
Drawing of lots

France - Turkey
Spain - Greece (winner does not play USA)

France played to loose between 1 and 11 points,.....they screwed up.

Spain Greece winner plays the US in the semis ...

The Turkish lobby did it right ...
Greece / Spain / USA / Argentina / Lithuania are in the other half of the brackets ... They only have Serbia.

its not that complicated.

FRA-ESP 72-66
ESP-NZL 101-84
NZL-FRA 82-70

Fra gets +6 from Spa game and -12 from Nzl game it means -6 avg
Esp gets -6 from Fra game and +17 from Nzl game it means +11
Nzl gets +12 from Fra game and -17 from Spa game it means -5avg

so +11>-5>-6

ESP>NZL>FRA

simple? :)

No, the winner of Greece vs Spain plays with the winner of Serbia vs Croatia. The team that comes out of this group plays against Turkey or the team that will have eliminated them(France, Slovenia, Australia).
