As we already knew Spain has to win to go on, same goes for Germany.

What if Turkey loses on purpose? Let's take a look at your 2nd scenario: if Germany wins and Italy loses then Turkey losing against Iceland could lead them in the 3rd spot (and Italy in the 2nd) or not?

Then we have:

1. SER 5-0
2. ITA 3-2
3. SPA 2-3
4. GER 2-3
5. TUR 2-3 (worst point difference, unless Germany demolishes Spain)

So no, Turkey can't lose on purpose if Spain loses. If Spain wins however, then Turkey is 4th regardless how they play the last match.

EDIT: This is assuming Spain beats Iceland tonight...

In that case GER/SPA/TUR would all have 2-3 and the point differential would decide their positions (Italy would be second), and Spain has a +25 point diff. for now, TUR -20, GER -5 (and we can guess the score in the proposed Germany victory against Spain).
So, if Germany wins with up to +14 and TUR loses against ICE:
3rd SPA (point differential between TUR-SPA-GER: +11)
4th GER (+9)
5th TUR (-20)

So, if Germany wins with +16 up to +45 and TUR loses against ICE:
3rd GER (+11)
4th SPA (+9)
5th TUR (-20)

If Germany wins with +46 and TUR loses against ICE:
3rd GER (+41)
4th TUR (-20)
5th SPA (-21)

So technically it's impossible for Turkey to finish 3rd if they flop against Iceland, they will almost 100% drop out if they do that.
 
Everybody was wrong. Iceland was tanking vs Serbia, cause they want to rip Spain and Turkey apart and sneak in as the third team :D
 
As I've pointed last night, The ones Who thought Spain tanked were awfully wrong. As I've said, i can see this Team losing to Iceland as sad as it would be.

You have +5 on the half time, and even if it's a reality that this team is not so great, honestly I would never ever underestimate it.
 
Spain had such halfs before, yet responded with kamikaze pressure at the start of the 3rd to that...
 
It's not underestimating them, they can lose to any team the way they've been playing. Also they can win to any team if they put a 100% effort. But i don't see this group winning to Germany and France at their home court in 2 consecutive games.
 
Germany and Turkey could easily be the 1st team without any defeats in Group D.

But Germany is the most unintelligent team by picking Turkey just for more fans. Means they deserve to be eliminated.
 
If SRB and ESP win, then TUR has no incentive to beat ISL. Is that right? Will they rest their starters then?

Serbia will play Finland in 1/8 finals, Italy is waiting on their faith with Germany - Spain game, and France - Israel.

What do you mean? Did I miss something that Germans could pick teams in the group?

Italy will be 2nd if Turkey loses or 3rd if Turkey wins!

Turkey 2nd if Spain loses and they win,otherwise 4th!

Germany if wins is 4th,otherwise is out,Spain if wins is 3rd(turkey loses) or 2nd (if turkey wins)

İsmail Şenol said many times about Germany especially wanted Turkey in the same group to see more fans in games. That's why the balances of the groups are very different.
 
Croatia picked - Slovenia
Latvia picked Lithunia
France picked Finland
Problem is I don't know if federations or FIBA picked.
