Greece won the second half and came within one basket. Was trailing the whole game. Hard to play like that. I can’t say that Canada was out of Greece’s reach. Next game.
BTW Charalampopoulos didn’t play in this game. Probably due to inexperience. This means that Papapetrou’s absence has cost us. And also Sloukas. Keep saying that key players need to be part of the team.

Sloukas would have made the crucial shots in the crucial minutes. But he refused to join the team for "moral reasons" He does not like Not playing the qualification but playing the tournament. It seems that he forgot that it is like that for several years now. Due to the fact that many Euroleague players cannot support qualification games for EC and WC. We don't have the luxury to let our best players home. We don't have the luxury to spend time on Oly Pao squarells.

Unfortunatelly Sloukas fell in the trap of the toxic club rivalry in Greece. It’s a shame, because he is the best Greek player aside of Giannis. He should set an example for unity. In fact, he does the opposite.
He may have had an injury problem and needed some rest, but I can’t help but look at Kevin Durant who didn’t play an exhibition game and still will be on the team. Now Moraitis was sitting on the bench the whole game. How immoral of Sloukas to not take his place.

Its a different time. Diamantidis retired from the NT when he was 30 if I am not mistaken.

The probability is high that we will not see Sloukas in the NT dress any more. If next year Oly performs better than Pao due to Vezenkovs return, Sloukas will face a lot of bashing from a lot of people. The argument was that Sloukas is our best player besides Antetokoumpo but he didnt participate to help the team. Spanoulis was also our best player when he retired, but as it seems Sloukas is the bad guy here. When Diamantidis retired, Spanoulis and Zisis were still in the team.

It is funny that Sloukas is the "black sheep" and is accused that he is influenced by PAO-Oly rivalry when our captain Papanikolaou didn't want to participate to the NT some years ago because coach Pitino was also PAO coach..

I really how things work in Greece but when I was Greek I would have been furious about his decision. I couldnt care less about the PAO OLY rivalry. Consider me as the Greek version of Fasoulaki. Only the NT matters for me.
