After watching the greek game against Egypt my optimism and confidence went away in the same manner as the greek defense.

Just take a look on Slovenian roster and your confidence will be immediately back. ;)

I don’t ever remember such packing the paint at this level of play. It’s crazy.

I refuse to believe Papagiannis made 5 3s:rolleyes:

Seems he is an oversized shooting guard. :);):p The farther away from the basket the more comfortable he feels.

I did not like greek offense in the game against Croatia. The only game plan they had was to shoot threes and field goals. They really struggled in the set play. We are back to the old problem on how to introduce Giannis in FIBA play. The only improvement to other years is that Giannis does not commit any offensive fouls anymore. With such an offensive system we have no chance to survive the killer group at the Olympics. I am very pessimistic.

Congrats to Greece, they were far the best team. The only problematic thing is how to incorporate Giannis in Fiba basketball. Opponents will just leave him open and packed the paint. Papa shooting like that is for sure the answer, but I'm not sure that's realistic.

I agree completely. Thats the main challenge as it always was.

Thank for the wishes people. I agree that the only way to utilize Giannis in FIBA basketball is to shoot really well from deep. We’ll see how far this takes us. It’s not an entire season. You only need like 3 good games in the Olympics.

Our group is very tough but not super unbeatable. Spain is not what they used to be, Canada has no bigs, and Australi is the weakest of the 3 imo. Given that the 2 of the best 3rd advance, I hope that we’ll be able to win one game and move on.

Anyway, fingers crossed. I’m glad we’re competing at last!

That was definitely memorable after years of crashing out in most do or die games. Great games upcoming in a very interesting group.

Only piece missing is who's gonna get a call up instead of Kostas Ante.

There is no one else. Any player outside of Kostas is essentially useless. Better wait for Kostas if there is a chance. Greece only need a few minutes from him.

What about Sloukas? Any update on him? I saw pictures from him being in Paris on vacation instead of Athens in the gym.

I think that players like Charalampopoulos, Toliopoulos and Kalaitzakis may be underrated. They reached another level, not too far from other players who are considered much better and are not on the team. I.e. I think that Charalampopoulos may be on par with Papapetrou. Perhaps even better. Just didn’t find himself in a situation to prove that yet. As such, he might lack some experience. Also Toliopoulos is an excellent player for your guard rotation. Kalaitzakis is a good sub for a EL champion. In all, Greece’s guard rotation is complete.

The key is for Kostas to make the team. My guess is that he might.
