Greek NT 2024

Sloukas, Calathes, Kalaitzakis, Larentzakis, Toliopoulos is a great line up. We don't necessarily lack guards. Walkup or Dorsey could help the team, but it's not that Greece lacks someone in the guard position.

Yes I agree completely. We should naturalize a serious center like this guy from Real Madrid Walter Tavares. This is what we are missing.

National team games approaching, you know what time it is: fasoulaki is back in business!

Yes, I am glad that this club competition circus is almost over and we can focus on the national issues again. :D:D:D:D:D

Whats your prediction against Slovenia?

Wow very difficult prediction at this moment of time. We dont even know the roster and the players shape. Lets hope that all players will survive without injury the club-circus and then we can start this discussion.

Friendlies have been scheduled:

On June 21 there will be a friendly match against Poland and on June 25-27 the Acropolis Cup will take place with Montenegro and the Bahamas as opponents.

With your mind blowing refereeing you seem to have lost the interest of good teams to participate in the Acropolis Tournament.

Perhaps that is the reason. Or maybe the federation decided to keep the level low because of the experience gained from the friendlies against top teams in the run-up to the 2023 World Cup.

There is no need to be embarrassed every year!

I think Turkey would accept an invitation in case they were active this summer :D

These teams are all in Olympic qualifying tournaments and have an interest in preparing. Maybe Spain, Latvia, Finland and so on would be higher level opponents. On the other hand, the players will come out of the league finals with very little time to recover, relax and prepare. So maybe it is better not to stress them too much.

It seems that Giannis has confirmed that he will join the Greek NT this summer.

Spanoulis has confirmed that Greece will have a full roster.

Calathes had confirmed his participation before.

The last dance, he?

I thought Calathes retired. Greece can still gather heck of a team. Not sure enough to medal, but legit candidates.

First things first. Let's see if Greece can qualify for the Olympics. Giannis needs to get in shape. Luca is in the Finals, but so the Greek NT players as well. Little time to rest

You get carried away again. Greece is always very strong at home but Doncic will be a huge obstacle.

Doncic taking over NBA right now and kinda takes it where Jokic left, but he will come much more warned out than Giannis. If Doncic comes with good stamina, he's a problem, but now he basically will come to the NT straight from NBA finals. Just with few days rest. I doubt he will show his best.

And Slovenia is pretty trashy. Now they naturalize Nebo. I lost respect for them. I doubt players as Cancar can keep it up all that much. They don't have depth and deep bench. Their quality is limited. In WC their were very meh. You just have to beat Doncic as much as you can. They just can't contend with such limited team, even though Doncic turning into the best BB player in the world. FIBA is really tough. He gets gassed out during FIBA tournaments physically. If he will come feeling rested than off course he can win the games single-handedly.

Doncic is never worn out.

There is a real possibility that Luka doesn't play at all. If his knee goes just a little worse, there's no way Mavs will let him play and risk bigger injury. They're gona pay him 350 mio after all. Mavs didn't expect to be in the Finals this year, but with few more trades they will be among favourites in next years. No way they jeopardise everything with letting Luka playing injured.

Chances for Slovenia went down a lot with Mavs making a run in playoffs even if he plays. He will be physically and mentally exhausted, if Mavs win or lose. Giannis on the other hand will be well rested and hungry for basketball. Add home court advantage and much better roster and you have Greece as big favourites.

C'mon Luka is so good he needs only to fart while sitting in his wheel chair in Dallas and immedialetly Slovenia hits a three while playing in Athens.
