I see where you're taking it and to some extent I agree.

I never said that Greeks don't like basketball or anything.

But with such an expensive ticket for a Greece game, if it was Vs anyone else, half of those people wouldn't have gone.
Do we agree on this?

its obvious that many of the people wouldnt have gone if the opponent was Poland,Puerto Rico or Ivory coast.
But there are 2 classes of people who go to watch these friendlies:
1)people like us who watch european and U.S. basketball and just go to watch a very competitive, exciting game(supporting Greece)
2)families as i said that just want to pass a nice afternoon with their children and if they hear the name Gay,they would think that the commentator made a joke about someone(also supporting Greece)

Greek players today disappointed both of these classes.

true
Plus, having seen them from a very close distance in Acropolis tourney, most were not that beautiful. Especially the blonde ones were the worst (and I am kinda pro-blonde :P). Now there were 3-4 that were nice....especially a brunette one that was insane. If I find some close-up photos from my phone I'll post up.

Maybe because i was watching a shit stream they were beautiful
it's like when you're drunk,
but yeah, I aprove, post the photos and we can get aout of uncertainty

Love 13 rebounds in 11 minutes. This guys has to play more.

I was just going to post about this myself. That includes 7 offensive rebounds.

Compare his stat line to Chandler's, our starter.

Why is he not playing more???

It was ugly, that's the truth guys.:(
That game was much worse for the team's image than the fighting with the Serbs.Bourou and Sofo's absences are a critical factor but not enough to make me feel relaxed.

Yet,I'm not sure what happened and I dont want to jumb to conclusions but "ovarall im dissapoint"

I am not worried about our team, if we play a full squad at World's we will be fine.

US played great perimeter defense and Durant looked very good as a go-to guy in halfcourt. However, for another game they committed more turnovers than assists (19 to 13) and interior defense was weak most of the game. If Tsartsaris scores 24 points on you, how many points Sofo and Bourousis would have had? Also, US has no serious scoring threat in the post, it doesn't seem to hurt them so far, but this factor might come into play later in the tournament.

Who cares about the result?

It's just a friendly.
Most of the players didn't even try hard, they just presented themselves in the court.

Maybe you can blame them for not trying.
You can't say they are not good or they are a shame to anyone.

When we were beating the hell out of every team we faced with 20-30 points it was all fine. Now we play against a team USA that wants to promote itself back home and say that "we are not as bad as they say".

Look at the Americans how happy they are and how happy they were in Spain for winning useless trophies!

I'm pretty sure Scariolo and Kazlauskas have spotted 2-3 weaknesses that their teams can exploit. I'm also pretty sure that Argentina, Serbia and a few other teams learned a lot of stuff from the American game.

Truth is, Spain & Greece will not play like this in the World Championship.
On the other hand, this is the Team USA you will see in the tournament.

They're still the favorites, but imo they're not gonna win it.

Excuses...Excuses. People usually say "it's just a friendly" when their team is on the losing end. Had Greece won you would've been singing their praises and you know it. To suggest the US is motivated by style-points so the media and supporters back home won't get on their case is absurd. The US is still developing as a team, so the need for all 12 players to get playing time and reps was essential. It had nothing to do with making impressions. I'll dismiss their happiness as youthful exuberance. You're reading into it like Team USA thinks they have the WC rapped up just because they won a few prefunctory practice games.

Remember, Greece has been training for the last several weeks with basically the same line-up they're had since '07, give or take a few players, so to get shattered like that on home soil against a team of youngsters only assembled three few weeks ago is inexcuseable. The effort wasn't there, and I'm not so sure that losing by 28 points psychologically favors the Greeks, even if it was just a meaningless exhibition. As anyone who as ever played basketball knows, you can't just turn your mojo on and off like a light switch.

Yeah, I know they didn't want to reveal too much, but what exactly is Greece going to do any differently aside from bringing more effort? Strategy wise, they're going to run the same offense they ran today as they've been running all summer and for the past several of years, so there's no big mystery. Unlike '06, the scouting report has already been compiled on Greece, so they'll be no catching the US off-guard. You're giving WAY too much credit to Scariolo and Kazlauskas if you think they're going to drastically change their strategies come tournament time. More refined and effecient...I'll buy...Spain and Greece doing something 180 degrees differently?....No.
