after the loss of Spain it is Greece turn now.
What do you think will happen?

my opinion is that Greece will win if
Sofo don't get fouled early
40 % 3 pts
Diamantidis and Spanoulis play descent (for me they are the worst players of Greece till now)

My opinion USA will win if:

1.) Solid Defense throughout the game
2.) More Fast Break points
3.) Control the Rebounds(offensive and defensive)

USA will win because Greece does not care about the friendly game as much as the Americans do.

5-10 pts win for USA

Yeah, we saw that in Serbia- Greece game :D

Have you seen the rest of Greece's games? And that's way off. It was Serbia that wanted the win at all costs(Ivkovic actually), not Greece.

They were too relaxed and I think that's why every game was easy.
The Serbs wanted to win badly, so it was a very close game.

The Spaniards didn't care about the friendly game with the Americans. The Americans on the other hand wanted to win, and Coach K admitted so.

We're gonna see the Americans earn an early lead of 15 points that will be reduced to 5-10 pts in the 4th quarter, that's how I see the game panning out

lol! You don't believe that,do you?:D
I mean, off course Greece cares as much as the Americans.
Perhaps more, because they play in their home.

Don't get defensive in advance. We 'll have plenty of time for this afterwards,IF we loose:cool:

3 days ago, almost everyone who published his opinion in IBN was certain that Spain would beat USA easily .
Obviously we don't have enough data for that kind of predictions yet. So,wishful thinking is what I'll do!

My vote goes to Greece.

I disagree. I think the Greek players want to perform well in front of their fans and more importantly study some strengths and weaknesses of the US should they meet at some point during the WC. Of course the US wants to win, but with Rondo's decision to leave the team the coaching staff now has the opportunity to work on improving rotations rather than using this last friendly as an audition for the final roster spot. That certainly influences US's strategy. I expect this game to be closely contested, but I hope it won't be as sloppy as the Spanish game.

I believe that the two teams will try systems and strategies , i dont believe that the Americans will play their best game after winning Spain, and the greek team will just play for the win ( to satsify the crowd after the "friendly" with Serdia) but not hardly. Its a 50% game for me , strategies and for the two teams.

I think USA will win. They have a very good team. Perhaps the Rondo withdrawal/cut might be a bit of a distraction, but it is not like Greece isn't distracted also these days. :D

Since Spain is likely to meet USA in the semi-finals, it made more sense for Coach K and Scariolo to disguise their play in that game than in this one. Although, now that I think of it, the US and Greece could very well meet in the QF if Greece loses to Turkey.

I want to say that I am very impressed with this US team, and especially the coaching staff. Their experience in FIBA basketball is getting greater and they are finding ways to adapt their team's play to international rules and demands. While the players are different from 2006 and 2008, the coaching staff isn't (except for the absence of D'Antoni). This means that the US will be better prepared to face all challenges in this WC.

It will be interesting to see how Greece plays given the ongoing brawl scandal and impending disciplinary action. Will Kazlauskas play Kaimakoglou and Vouyoukas more anticipating the suspensions of Tsartsaris, Fotsis and/or Schortsianitis? It should be a nice atmosphere with a nearly full arena.

Yeah, we saw that in Serbia- Greece game :D

Serbia was able to stay with Greece for most of the game, and had it not been for the brawl they had a chance to pull off a victory. I won't say Serbia is quite up there with Spain or Greece (they lost to Canada last week in the same tournament), so it stands to reason that if Greece struggled to beat Serbia they're going to struggle to beat a faster, more talented US team.
Of course, such rationality never perfectly works that way. Games are won on the court, and Greece will present match-up problems the US hasn't faced before in front of rabid Greek fans, no less. I actually like Greece's chances, but both teams have something to play for so I expect it to be a close, heated match-up.

I'm saying this because Kazlauskas is smart enough to mix things up.
It's not just the USA he's hiding stuff from tomorrow, it's from everyone.

I think he'll just ask the players to play well with basic strategies. Just ask them to enjoy the game, because the serious stuff start 3 days later

Serbia's defeat from Canada was just a part of a plan.Didn't you see Ivcovic smiling after the game? Do you believe that he is the kind of guy who will be happy after an (unintentional) defeat? Believe me,he is NOT.

BTW Serbia is at the same level with Greece,Spain,USA or Argentina imo.

I voted USA and I think that both teams will give their best effort to win this match-esp Greece.

I just hope Fiba's verdict doesn't come before the match and spoils the atmosphere.

Damn 7 pm?I thought 9.

Yes, and I think it's on Novasports1, with a pregame show at 18:00 and a post game for one more hour. If anyone knows if it' ll be on any other channels, maybe that should be posted here too.

I voted for US too.

I voted Greece just because I am Greek :D
Both teams would play hard for the win whatever they admit it or not. The team that wins gets a small boost for games ahead including a possible match-up between the two teams. It is simple and works in every competitive action of humans.
I hope we see an amazing game and most important; I HOPE OF NO SANCTIONS AGAINST NEITHER GREEK OR SERBIAN PLAYERS.
Thanks

Yes, I have the NOVA pack as well and I was also considering Rafaldo, but a 32 inch TV screen sort of beats a 17 inch laptop screen. I might turn off the sound on TV, though... Nothing like a little triiiiiiiiiipleeeeeeeeeeeee ding dong!:D
