I have tried, Greek, Turkish and Syrian Baklava. From all 3, Syrian is the best. Second favourite is turkish and third Greek.

Man then you've definitely got to try the Lebanese baklava :) U'll seriously end up getting diabetes if u tried one :D

greek baklava is very different from turkish. It smells a lot of goat butter and the nut taste is too much strong.I also like greek baklava but not turkish.
Raki is the same though.:) excellent.

Is anyone here travelling to Ankara?I would rather go to Izmir even just to watch others' NT matches.

Do come to Izmir if u can get the chance and are unable to go to Ankara. U'll really enjoy the atmosphere with the Lebanese and Lithuanian fans :D (I can guarantee it)

By the way great thread Ark :D. (Ur knowledge of Turkish cuisine is also quite impressive especially the names+terminologies :D).
U did forget to mention about the Turkish "dondurma" (ice cream). I had one when I was in Bursa and it was awesome (I believe the milk they use for this ice cream is from goats if i'm not mistaken :D).
U've also got the Lahmaajun (sort of like the pitaki with meat inside) and ayran (yoghurt juice) :D

I once read that there are more than 2 million Turks (including those with dual citizenship) living in Germany so i'm not surprised with your post :)

Should be way more than 2mil overall in germany. Wikipedia gives 2.8, but the number could be even bigger. And should be almost half a mil in berlin itself...On top of that, they own most of the snack stands

Sorry fed, call the feds, cuz Ark owns you on this one. Oh, and I am over 30 and still laughing about this kind of stuff. :D Must be some weird sense of humor...:D

He owns me because you want him to bro.

I'm born in Istanbul but lives in Ankara for a while like 5 years or so, hopefully it'll end by the summer and i'll be gone back to my lovely Istanbul.

Ankara sucks, no emotion here, everything goes on the routine as it's the capital city.

And also it's not that hard to get here with bus or plane or train, pretty fast and comfy, that should not be a problem and i don't think there is a reason behind of the matches taking place in Ankara.

I'll throw you my chocolate covered lukumis:)

I can't wait for the matchup against Greece, it will be hell of a fun again.

i can't wait to see Puerto Rico playing Turkey after they have played against Greece!!

He forgot to mention his favorite dish: Tarraam salad. :)

oh arkadios, somehow you're right! Today's headlines are all about Payback Time, referring the game in Euro2009:D

Sovara !! Or r u just kidding?

If u r, I can recommend some places :)

U will definitely enjoy the food and ur time there though especially if u want to enjoy some nice nightlife (not that u don't already have a crazy nightlife in Greece :D).

As for the main discussion of this thread (Which I realized has turned into anything but bball related :p) here is what I think about Greece's chances in the group:

Greece has a big chance to qualify from 1st or 2nd place from this group. Their main competition will be from Turkey (especially since Turkey is playing on home court) and maybe but just maybe Russia. The games against Puerto Rico shouldn't be that easy while China and Ivory Coast should be no problem (considering that there is a very high chance that Yao Ming won't be playing and he represents more than 40% of the real power of the Chinese NT while Ivory Coast is a descent African team but they don't haven't played in any big tournament like this before).

Greece will only has the chance to reach the quarter 8..
Turkey' s play will get Greece players exhausted.. This will be an interesting game.. who will say first awwwwwwwwwwwwwww.. I bet the Greek people will suffer this time... Most of experienced greek players will be olb and have lack to jump..

Didnt even have to reply to the previous post. Somebody already did this for me.

France is a strong team, very athletic but for some reason when the going gets tough..well..nevermind maybe this year is their year.

Wish them all the best

It was definitely a good setup, congrats to whoever made it happen.

No worries for Big sofo, I am kind of sure he'll be the fans' favorite Greek player...
