Congrats Lebanon! !

Congrats to our Lithuanian brothers, i want to see Lithuania in the worldcup too. Congrats!

I wonder if all Lithuania will be in Turkey like it was in at the Eurobasket or it was just because Poland is close...

Tomas Belaisis, "leader" of Lith' fans mentioned something about 4000 fans expected. Doubt there will be THAT much, but we're probably be one of the largest groups together with Turks, Greeks and Lebanese.

heh for all that drama on these boards leading up to it, it was pretty much what was initially predicted post regional tournaments.

Yes, its very interesting. With all these bribes to Fiba going on they still picked the 4 teams which were predicted before the bribe drama... Something strange going on there

Congrats for Lebanon, Lithuenia, Germany and Russia
Just as we predicted we hit it exactly.. Those four teams really deserve to be in Turkey..

But I have two questions:
1- How did they group the four BB teams groups level.. what criterea?
2- I heard that 8 teams paid 500 000Euro.. to who to Fiba?!! or to their local teams and local championship?!!

Please advise
and Congratulation again sincerely

Lebanon got the total of 8 votes (4 Europe,3 Asia + Baumann)

All the 8 teams paid 500,000 Euros, teams were awarded the wild card won't get back the money but the teams whom were unlucky with it will get them back!

Mr.Kakhia (President of FLB) said today that when he met Baumann from 3 months, our chances were nearly zero but day after day with the big pressure of the Lebanese fans and a clear message from Turkey to Fiba about their desire to include Lebanon in the Fiba World Championshop increased our chances!

8/? votes? and how much votes the rest got?

Congratulations to Lebanon, Lithuania, Germany and Russia.

I was wondering which players would be representing their respective countries since they were awarded the wild card to the WC? Will they be in full force or will their best players commit themselves to their national team?

This will be truly a very exciting and competitive championship.

Well, Lithuania never has its full roster, but it should be stronger than in Eurobasket, there's a high probability that we'll see Kaukėnas and Jasikevičius back in NT. Who knows, maybe even Macijauskas, but his form is questionable.

Macijauskas' career is highly questionable. It's about a month when he's FA and he has offers, but there's no answer yet. I wouldn't be surprised if he won't be back to the professional BB.

Lithuania will be completely different team. Even if we would miss our backcourt stars (Jasikevičius, Kaukėnas) because of injuries, the add of new talented players (Gecevičius, Pocius) would let Lithuania to be at the higher level than we were at Eurobasket 2009. + all the other main figures like Kleiza, bothers Lavrinovic are going to play. So all the best players who didn't retire of Lithuanian NT theoretically are going to play.

Russian federation assured that Russian NT team will play with all their best players (Kirilenko, Khriapa).

Germany will have Nowitzki once again.

I have no doubt Lebanon won't face any problems to gather all the best, right?

Lithuanian fans:

Greek fans:

I had some interesting conversations with those fans. I also asked them about the difference between these nice singing fans which is the opposite to what we see Oliympacos-Panatinaikos or at Aris-Paok games. They told me that they have favorite clubs but they don't go to the games, it is other people.
There even was one who came there with Olympiacos's flag and they all asked him to put it inside his bag.

I also have some video's of Maccedonian/Fyrom's (and don't start with that) fans but most of them probably won't be there...
