He should play in the PBA and play center, developing his low-post skills against the likes of Danny I., Asi Taulava and Marlou Aquino. Maiba naman. :D :D :D

Why would Gabe Norwood play Center he is only 6'3- 6'4 ( with out shoes). I guess he wants to play in the PBL because he is joining the Harbour Centre team in their quest to take the Gold in the Sea Games.

Gabriel Norwood (196-G/F-85) will play under the SEAG-bound RP Harbour Centre National Team in the 7th Brunei Cup Basketball Championship this coming August 25 in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei.

Norwood's name was listed in the tournament's official website along with other former pro and amateur players like Ato Morano, Chico Lanete, Jeffrey Chan, Dennis Daa, Eric Dela Cuesta, Joshua Urbiztondo, Chad Alonzo, Jason Castro, Beau Belga, Erick Rodriguez, Christian Coronel, Jerwin Gaco, Allan Salansang and Robert Sanz that will play in the prestigious annual basketball tournament which offers a grand total prize of B$35,000, biggest in the region so far.

Norwood, who will likely to play in Philippine Basketball League, is still consulting with its agent and weighing up options whether to apply for PBA next year or to play in US or Europe after carrying the national colors in the coming South East Asian Games in Thailand.

Brunei Cup this year will be considered as the most competitive in its tournament history after the confirmation of Australia's National Basketball League expansion squad Singapore Slingers to join the tournament. Other teams that will also give hard time for the RP Harbour Centre NT bid are last years runner-up Darwin Airport Resort All-Stars, Jordan All-Stars which will be reinforced by a number of Jordan national team members that competed recently in the W.Jones Cup and the Asian Championship in Japan, PBA's Sta Lucia Realty, and Korean Basketball League's LG Sakers which will be bannered by its two American imports

I would prefer him to play in the NBA, if not then Europe or the NBA-DL should be the best option for him.

can anyone tell Gabe Norwood this?

1. please choose to play in Europe. so he would get even better.

2. if not in Europe, try to stay in the US like NBDL or the likes.

we hope he gets better so he can be a big factor for the national team.

3. do not play in the PBL because he will not get better for the fact he is better than most of the players. do not play in the PBa because he will be transformed to a frontcourt player like a center or a powerforward. this will not be good for his career. it is not he is not welcome in the PBA but we wish he could get better and better so he will be a force for the national team.

:) :)

Gabe Norwood Please!

Gabe Norwood Please!

Yes i AGREE LET HIM GROW AS A PLAYER by playing abroad, not here! go to europe or the nbdl and who knows if he reaches his full potential and matures more as a player and adds more upper body strength, he might get atleast a 10day offer from NBA teams. Go Philippines!

lets follow Argentina....their NT players which beat Team USA did not play in their home country but in Europe and USA

as always say.... :D

to be globally competitive, one must have global mentality:D

he shouldn't waste his talent here in the Philippines:D

he will just learn and adapt the Filipino type of basketball:D

he is still young and still lot of rooms for improvement:D

playing in local league will not maximize his true potential...:D

just look at what happened to various Fil-Foreigners that played in the country:D

he can play for PBA .... only if he's not that competitive anymore:D

I think that Norwood should try first playing in the Philippines because I noticed during the FIBA Asia and Jones Cup that he wasn't a consistent shooter and since he's playing the offguard and pointguard it'll be very helpful for his game to stay for a short time. Philippine guards are competitive shooters so I think he will still develop here after working with them. However, he should not stay here too long because he has to develop further his aggressiveness and confidence. Moreover, if he would stay here, yes he'll be treated as a superstar and criticisms for his game would be less which would be detrimental to his development. So playing here would be like a confidence booster in his shooting and in his approach to the game. I prefer him playing in Europe rather than USA because he can really absorb the mentality of playing as a team and being physical in playing rather than the USA. In result this would be advantageous not just for him but for the Philippine National Team as well because he can become a leader.

playing in Europe must have an Euro passport otherwise you'll be considered as import. and in that case every euro team will be looking for a sort of do-it-all type of player

I would like to see him play in Europe.. He will definitely grow there... And he will be able to play backcourt, which is his natural position..

The Question is.. Is there any European Ball Club intereseted in tapping Norwood's service??
Maybe if we are in the shoes of Gabe Norwood, we are thinking of the sure thing rather than gambling. For sure he'll become popular and earn big money if he plays for the PBA, while playing in Europe ( if ever ) is a vauge option, he will roughly play good minutes there. donning an American-Asian tag, despite his good US NCAA credentials, he will doubtly make noise with the European Scouts. but, who knows..
i believe he's somewhat " nagpapahinog " pa, and he'll go for the sure thing.. ( dun na siya sa sigurado ) and that is to play in the PBA.

If he can get a job in Europe, fine. If not, then no choice, but play in the PBA.

Gabe Norwood competed this summer for the Philippines National Team in the FIBA Asia Olympic Qualifying Tournament
While FIBA Americas begins its championship this week, FIBA Asia held its championship a little more than three weeks ago, and that gave former Patriot Gabe Norwood a chance to play for the Philippine national team. Norwood, Mason's all-time leader in games played, helped his team to a 9th-place finish out of 16 teams.
Norwood averaged 8.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting .514 from the field and 81 percent from the free throw line. His top performances came after the team advanced out of pool play. He had eight rebounds against Syria, 23 points five rebounds and four assists against India and 18 points five rebounds and five assists against Kuwait.

I have read in a website that he was being scouted by a European team and his agent is in talks with the team. I do not know the current status of that news but hopefully it will happen.

FIL-AM Gabe Norwood is expected to be the biggest draw when the PBL holds its annual Rookie Draft on Sept. 28 at the PBL office in Pasig.

The 6-foot-5 Norwood played for the all-pro Philippine team in the FIBA-Asia Championship in Japan recently and also expressed his wish to play in the coming PBL tournament before joining the PBA next year.

Commissioner Chino Trinidad sees a bumper crop of talents as other Fil-foreign players have signified their interest to join the premier amateur basketball league.

“The league lost a great number of its marquee players but I’m confident a new batch of exciting players will rise and take the spotlight,” said Trinidad. “There are lots of talents around so I’m confident we can discover new ones.

“If the player will join the league, we are willing to provide them the training they want. We’re going nurture and help them build a career for themselves,” said Trinidad.

Expected to join the rookie draft are Woody Co and Miguel de Asis of the University of the Philippines, Jose Antonio Reyes, Eric Salamat and Ken Joseph Barracoso of Ateneo, James Martinez of University of the East, Marnel Baracael and Benedict Fernandez of FEU, Peejay Barua of La Salle.

A horde of NCAA standouts, among them John Carl Meligrito of Letran, Michael Kong of University of Perpetual Help Dalta System, Garvo Lanete of San Beda and John Marion Wilson of Jose Rizal University, are also likely to join the draft.

Top players from the Visayas, especially from Cebu and Bacolod, are also invited to join the rookie draft which will now be held only once a year.

Previously, the league conducts its rookie draft twice a year.

“Failure to join the coming draft will have to wait for another year before they can play in the league,” said PBL Executive Director Butch Maniego.
