Good point there Coj, Some are really just after the money not the money. Its up to the person. He can do what he thinks is best for him

Yah..that's the sad thing, and by doing so, they are already surrendering on the fact that as an athlete, they could still improve leaps and bounds (be it Norwood or Kerby)....Can't blame them though, it's hard to gamble......

anyway, hayaan na natin sya, matanda na sya, bahala na sya magdecide sa future nya

translation: Let him decide for his won fate, I hope, whatever consequence his decision would make, he would face it with pride.......

Luckily Seigle was employed by the SMC so his future was atleast secured, but he wasn't able to maximize his playing career (I applaud him for that)

Sidenote: There's aways that misconception that most of the Filipino Foreigners are well to do, or middle class in the Unted States, but that is not the case, example are the Montero Brothers (the actors in the Philippines but were carpenters/construction workers in the US) Sol Mercado, Japeth Aguilar etc......heck my uncle was a lawyer in the Philippines but in the US he's just a 7-11 store merchant....

I do remember in one of Gabe's interview, after the Tianjin stint, that he is willing to play for the national team again.. so I think he already decide on that... the problem now is the league's Board and his team owner.. are they willing to release him?..

Of course, Norwood, on that interview, might have been talking about another stint with a PBA-backed RP Team rather than SG..

OT: I agree with you that just because a Filipino lives overseas doesn't mean he can afford everything... I can say that on personal experience.. I know a lot of Pinoys here in NZ that pretty much graduated with bachelor degrees in Manila yet their degrees are not recognize and have to study two more years here before they're accepted.. so many of them would rather take different jobs unrelated to their degrees than studying two more years (underemployment)... of course, the main motivation are to support family in the Philippines...

I guess this makes it doubly important that SG succeeds somehow. Because it would provide cagers an alternative to the PBA. The financial rewards may come by way of endorsements, etc, which could compensate for difference in salaries with the PBA.

Seigle wasn't able to maximize his potential because of injuries. Sad to see such a great player decline because of that. I still remember Uichico's insistence to play him in an exhibition game against Qatar. Seriously, Seigle didn't have to play because it was a frigging exhibition game! Right that that Achilles heel tear, he was never the same, save for 2006

One way or another that injury of Seigle was bound to happen even if he didn't play in that exhibition game because he was getting out of shape and even gaining weight. When Chot took over SMB I think he told Seigle to better shape up and take care of his body. And that helped Seigle regain his old form. A healthy Danny Seigle was a walking mismatch in the PBA.

just like samboy, they could have done more (pba and rp teams) if not for the injuries...

why tell that everyone sucks when your basketball skills(assuming you got skills) are questionable :D

hehehe the more we tried to explain something to him the more he doesn't want to understand.. maybe, just maybe if we let the great Joel23 explain to him everything then he might get what everyone here are talking about:D:D

hehehe at least Joel23 has far better sense than the new ogre este poster

Norwood is now a great basketball player, and the once skinny newbie in the RP team now an unstoppable force in Asia! one of the top 10 in the Philippines because of his exposure in the PBA. He is truly grateful for the opportunity the PBA has given him. The PBA management is truly a considerate bunch of executives all giving importance to national pride than their business well being. If Smart Gilas needs Norwood then all they have to do is ask and the PBA is always willing to help. We are very lucky to have the PBA around as a creator of great basketball players! Mabuhay ang PBA!

Agree to that... Joel23's posts are always with good intention despite the language difficulties..

joel23's t shirt...got T shoe?(with nosebleed drawing)..just kidding more power to him. I want to see him post some more :D

Yup, here in the Philippines especially in the PBA, the players are owned by the teams and they cannot do anything beyond the will of the team owners, even the coaches has no control .... sorry but our players now are indeed "Por Kilo". If you want them buy them .....

The is the sad thing about our basketball players. It becomes more as investment

It not just our players... Even in the NBA it happens... Some NBA team Owners won't Let there player play for there NT bcoz they are afraid that there player might get injured..

But.. kudos to our PBA players whenever they are called for a duty to play for our RP Team they never said NO... What if every Superstar player in Philippines does a Yuta Tabuse who refused to play for his NT....

but i do agree...gabe got game. but he's overhyped .

For me Gabe maybe doesn't not show his real game because he is not playing natural position, i believe he is better if he will play PG rather than expect him to score 20+ points but i believe he is a good defender than people think..

hype em up

hype em up

but i do agree...gabe got game. but he's overhyped .

everybody tends to over hype players..just look at Lebron we all know that he is one of the best players in the NBA if not the world but IMO he still has to improve one thing and that is his basketball IQ..sometimes he tend to really force shots and he's a bit turnover prone but hey Lebron is Lebron and nobody's perfect.
