Future Big Men Of Philippine Basketball

I recently had a conversation with 6'9" Isaac Holstein who is half-Filipino. All I could say is, forget hope he'll ever don the NT jersey.

is it because:

a. he's unimpressive?

b. he's not interested in making a career out of basketball?

c. he doesn't want to play in the philippines?

I'd like to believe so that largely it's A. (NCAA Division II stats: 0.714 ppg, 0.929 rebs in 14 games last year.

Other than that, he is just not willing to go through some of the hassles necessary such as he don't want to put in the time to apply for a PHI passport. When I asked him if he had any videos, he replied it wont happen cause he never really played(a case of "I'm good but my teammates don't trust me so I never really showed what I can do"). :D:D:D:D

As I said before Isaac still lacks self-confidence .... his case is actually much worse than Japeth. I have to wait until after the coming US NCAA season before I appraise him again, but as of now I would bet on Jericho de Guzman over him. And Gian Chiu over him by miles away.

Just let him go. Ugh 6 9 and would like to quit the game. That tells a lot about his passion for the game, eh? No disrespect to him as a person, but if you thought Aguilar is weak mentally, how about this guy?

^Edit for Thadz (replied without looking at the replies): exactly my point :D

Just came as a random thought: Looking back at the years past, it isn't really that we have a short supply of big men for the international game. My take is we have not totally tapped their full potential, for lack of development programs, for lack of exposure to tougher competition, and for being content with dreaming within our geographical limits.

We have had our share of guys over 6'9" din naman.

Aside from lacking self-confidence on his basketball abilities, I do sense he is not really that passionate with the sport. Because even if you are not that talented but you have the desire and is willing to make sacrifice to improve one's game, then we could say he might have a future since he is 6'9.

As of now, At best he is more like Raymond Lacson but at worst he could be a Raul Dillo. Right now he is trying but he seems bothered with his development. In fairness Isaac is better off than another prospect we tried to get 1 or 2 years ago, Thadz do you remember that 6'8 guy in Cali who we tried to contact via Myspace who rather go rapping and hip-hop than play basketball. He even had a video breakdancing hahaha :D

If Holstein could at least be a Bonnie de Jesus, we could take a gamble and just be patient and work on his game.

this guy's seriously in trouble. Cebuano pa naman. His dad was from Tuburan, Cebu.

6'7" Raymond Almazan. The leading shot blocker, and the 3rd best rebounder in the NCAA this season. He just needs to improve his offensive game.
