reminds me of JayR Reyes except that Reyes can shoot the perimeter

Well, offensively JR is more gifted but, did JR Reyes had that kind of defensive prowess? Jason currently averages 13 rpg and 3.2 bpg

someone from SBC team Behold said there's no players with that kind of height.

Team insiders say this is definitely a joke

Hope JB will further develop his offensive game other than his defensive game.

Jason is definitely going to be a first round pick in the PBA Draft because he's one of the best defender in the NCAA tournament.

Jason Ballesteros Stats in the NCAA Tournament.

9.2 ppg, 13.8 rpg, 3.7 bpg, 0.8 apg, 0.9 spg

^Heheh... very impressive stats, near double-double (his scoring is just a bonus)... could probably be compared to Japeth Aguilar in terms of athleticism and shotblocking prowess but is a better rebounder... :)

That's great for a big man...
Add more muscle, speed and dribbling ability he can be the next prime defender center that we have. His points is a big bonus but his defense and rebounding and intimidating factor is what the other teams really needs.

BTW, what his official height?

Same Height as Lawrence Bonus a legit 6'6", and that was also the pre draft measurement of Tracy Mcgrady in the 1997 NBA Draft.

Grizzlies sign Iranian center Hamed Haddadi

Jesse D. Garrabrant

23-year-old led all 2008 Olympic players in rebounding and blocks.

Memphis, August 28, 2008 — The Memphis Grizzlies signed free-agent center Hamed Haddadi pronounced (ha-MED ha-DAHD-dee), who led all 2008 Olympians in rebounding and blocks, Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Ahvaz, Iran native recently participated in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China, where he was the only player to average a double-double (16.6 points, 11.2 rebounds, 2.6 blocks) in Olympic competition while playing five games for the Iranian National Team.

The 7-2, 254-pound center had his best performance came against eventual bronze medal winner Argentina when he had a team-high 21 points and game-high 16 rebounds on Aug. 16.

“We are pleased to sign Hamed,” said Wallace. “He is a young center who was very productive as a rebounder, shotblocker and scorer at the Rocky Mountain Revue Summer League in Salt Lake City, Utah, the 2008 Olympics and the FIBA Diamond Ball Tournament in Nanjing, China prior to the Olympics. Our coaching staff is eager to begin working with Hamed.”

Haddadi, who is slated to become the first Iranian to play in the NBA, poured in 31 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against Lebanon in the 2007 FIBA Asian Championship in Japan, helping Iran clinch its first Olympic basketball berth since 1948.

The 23-year-old, who was not selected in the 2004 NBA Draft, recently averaged 14.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in 25.5 minutes in two games for the Iranian team against NBA competition at the 2008 Rocky Mountain Revue.

Haddadi, who spent the 2007-08 season playing for Saba Battery BC in the Iranian Super League, will join former Grizzlies Jake Tsakalidis and Cezary Trybanski as the tallest players in franchise history. He is also the second Grizzlies player to appear in the 2008 Olympics, joining center Marc Gasol, who captured a silver medal with the Spanish National Team.

You can also add 6'5" Jervy Cruz, and 6'4" Edwin Asoro from the NU Bulldogs.

Name: Jervy Cruz
Height: 6'5" ( With Shoes)
Weight: 240 lbs.
Age: 21 yrs.old
Teams: Hapee Toothpaste ( PBL), UST Growling Tigers (UAAP), former RP Youth Team Member, and Member of the Harbour Centre Team than won last years SEABA Tournament

Jervy Cruz ( 2008 UAAP Stats)

19.6 ppg, 12.6 rpg, 0.9 apg, 0.4 spg, 1.0 bpg, 74.12 FT%, 54.09 FG%

Jervy Cruz was one of only two Filipino players chosen to participate in the first Basketball Without Borders Asia instructional camp that was held on July 14-17, 2005 in Beijing.

The other player is San Beda’s Ogie Menor. The camp featured 52 Asian players, who were personally selected by FIBA and the NBA.

Cruz was the leading scorer of the Youth team that participated in the 2004 FIBA Asian Juniors tournament held in Bangalore, India where the Philippines placed 13th. He averaged 18.3 ppg, and almost 11 rpg on 60% FG shooting, with a single-game high of 28.

Jervy's main asset is his great basketball IQ, and he is definitely the best fundamental Power Forward in the amateur league because he uses his long wingspan in getting the rebounds against some of the taller PF/Center in the UAAP, and he is also a great 1 on 1 defender making him one of the most versatile player in the Amateur League.

Edwin Asoro ( 2008 UAAP Stats)

13.7 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 2.2 apg, 1.2 spg, 1.7 bpg.

Edwin Asoro had a better stats last year, but it looks like Asoro is not inspired to play for the National University this season because they are still one of the worst team in the UAAP.

2007 UAAP Stats

13.1 ppg, 11.1 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.7 spg, 1.5 bpg

Both of them are going to be first round picks in the 2009 PBA Draft, and I hope they can follow in the footsteps of Arwind Santos, and Enrico Villanueva.

He must have gotten those information from a comic book at Filbars.

He's going to play the SF position in the PBA, and he reminds me of a younger version of Arwind Santos, when he's playing in the UAAP and PBL.

Asoro had a great game against the Ateneo Blue Eagles yesterday after scoring 19 points, 4 blocks, and grabbing 13 rebounds, but the Blue Eagles are just a much better overall team than the struggling Bulldogs. So far his individual stats are good, and i consider him as a first round pick in the 2009 PBA Draft.

Last year he won the 2007 UAAP Defensive Player of the Year Award, and i like his chances to repeat this year.

Edwin Asoro UAAP Stats

14.1 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.1 spg, 1.8 bpg, 42.77 FG%,
