Future Big Men Of Philippine Basketball

Tiffany Reyes the daughter of JR Reyes playing on the NBTC under 19 team and she is only 13 years old and she's doing good against the older players...and heard she is already six feet tall

Honestly, she looks more promising than his brother at the moment. Hope she gains a couple of inches more so that we'll have a tall and mobile 3 or 4.

At this early you can tell they need motorskills improvement.

The 11 year old has high upside if he starts training correctly then "plays up."

The older guys are right on track to be prototypical pinoy big men.

Playing any sport early would've made a big difference for them. Imagine them having the running ability of a soccer player, reflexes of a baseball player or physicality of a football player. Even simple dribbling training and layup drills early would've raised their potential much higher.

if memory serves me right, and i have been wrong before, Yap only started playing organized basketball last year. we have no idea what he has been doing before last year but it is evident that it did not help his movement. as always, we can only hope for the best for these kids but we really need to encourage sports at an earlier stage. it doesnt matter if the kids focus change after a year or 2 but atleast the discipline and habit of playing organized sport has already begun before the genes kick in,

It doesn't hurt that this early, they send them to a more advanced camp for big men,it will put them in a much different basketball scenario, preferably against foreign kids, they get to play against guys their size.

Sir Dave,

I hope your good companions may somehow help our Fil-Kiwi kid 6'8 Jireh Tumaneng to hook-up with the likes of coach Jeff Codera.

I think those from that ADU camp are ain't warm and enthusiastic to develop that kid.

being 17 yrs. old(?) I hope puede pang mai habol yung core ng bata na bigla na lang naglaho na parang bula.

thank you.

I had a gut feeling that the parents and the handlers of that big kid Andwil Yap are a regular(?) IBN readers,

they know who are the best personnel to hook-up to develop the lad.

btw, is that CTB in the video doing some one on one drills?

thank you.

Kid is UAAP bound

Sir Wawa,

if indeed that's CTB in the video.

alam na toits.

last I heard is sa Sampaloc hehe. Just depends which school in Sampaloc hehe.

Owen Calanasan is already in Loyola. They're almost the same age, heft and height. Someone will log shorter minutes if they play together.

Sir Wawa,

Sampaloc again??? ADU Jr. team again??? coach Mike Fermin again??? hehehe..(just a little bit of clowning around here).

good thing he is hooking up with coach Jeff Codera.

I hope the other kid Jireh Tumaneng can hook up with a skills coach as well.

naaawa po talaga ako sa batang yun Sir Wawa, beke nemen..someone needs some(friendlly) wisphering.

Adamson is near Taft. Not really Sampaloc area.

As for Tumaneng, hopefully he becomes quick enough to play the 4. Bigs his size are best fit for the 4, unless they have the length and athleticism of a Mike Phillips.

Sir IPC,

I agree more.

in fairness he is quick enough to run the floor

it's just that he doesn't fully nurtured in that program thus the regression..really need to hook-up with a competent skills coach ASAP.

Mike Philips is like a younger and taller version of a Rudy Hatfield, lot's of motor.

Alvarado-Menk-Hatfield-Belasco-Clay version for future entourage keeps pooping on my head

i hope all the local young prospects bigs or any position should train under him (jeferson codera). He got USA basketball skills license and skills coach of GSW. he trained Carl Tamayo and Seven Gagate in the past. he's currently training the Mapua cardinals and 15 y/o 6'9 andwill yap.

I would love to see Andwill Yap develop into a power forward like a Yoyoy Villamin type of player. Poor man Jolly Escobar is not bad.

I hope SBP is doing something for these future bigs (Prince Carino 6'6, Gab Castro 6'5, Boe Gelin 6'5, Aaron Guinto 6'4 for under 14 and for under 12 Cholo Evangelista 6'3, Simple 6'3, Esomchi 6'2, Iledan 6'2 )...I watched them all playing in NBL YOUTH AND MPBL for under 14 and under 12...if one these players end up the bigger version of Kevin Quiambao it will nice for our national team
