pinoys have a propensity to exaggerate when it comes to height. skyway, people's park in the sky, tower of power (both benjie and the gma transmitter)

unless there's a credible way to validate the sources, i'll just assume he's not more than 6'10.

Well, he just said that he's not sure about his height, but he just grew. No specifics as to height.

Another one who is claiming to be a legit 7ft is Jay Pangalanan,he was 6'10,only way to know is both Jay and Ladis brought in the Gilas practice and have them stand next to AK who is slightly taller than 6'10,they should be both taller than Angelo if its true.,

Actually even if they are 7 foot or 6'10.

I am more concerned in their game development.

Both of them are very raw

That's why it was good that Ladis was invited to the training pool. He could learn something, heck even play the 4 position alongside Kouame.

Worse than the Americans who measured NBA players with shoes on,Boban who's a legit 7'3 suddenly over 7'4 in the NBA,the reasoning was you don't play on your barefeet, hence measured with shoes on.Saying you're almost 7 feet when you're at least 2-3 inches shorter is hilarious, even projecting how tall potentially a young will be is just ridiculous.I still remember when Carino in U16 he was 6'8 and lots of media people who doesn't have a degree in science speculating he will grow to 6'11 at least.Nothing will beat Quinito 2who insist to Kai he might be even 7'4,even tho Kai stopped growing at 7'2.

A lot of posters here predicted kai will reach at least 7'4.

Pangalanan's skill is only good for local leagues. He's lucky if he makes it to the PBA. Lepalam has a potential to be a national player, especially if one of the bigs (Kai or AJ) is not available.

This is where we have a leg up on SoKor. Big man development, we could do, we just didn't have much size at both big positions.

Now we're developing 6'7"-6'8" PFs who can bang inside, and have a perimeter skillset. With Kai, Chiu, Tamayo, Baltazar, and probably Kouame, Lepalam, Cariño, and AJ, we'd have an edge, and a great frontline for years to come.

Just don't fuck this one up.
Meanwhile, Japan has Hachi and Watanabe, Korea has Hyunjung Lee, China has Fanbo Zeng…. I think quality wise our competitors have the edge in the 3/4 spots. But for the 4/5 spots, I think we are bar none the best there is. A 3 man rotation of Kai, Aj and Ange would be a problem at any level. Edu was a terrific rim protector and an above par overall defender before his slew of injuries. This is basically modern science versus Aj’s knees.

Yeah, that's the difference. We produce quality bigs who play inside. That's not necessarily a bad thing; in fact, it provides another dimension against our competitors.

Seven Gagate might have the potential to be our next low-post 4. Hope that the newly-discovered bigs, Brix Versoza and Donjie Cornesio will help our cause as 4/5s.

Not even sure if he's 6'10. He used to be just 6'8 some years ago. So unless these prospects get measured PBA combine style while lying down it's really hard to believe whatever is in the news.

Seraphim Moran of Maroon Talk gives an overview of Kobe Demisana and Nathaniel Montecillo: https://fb.watch/ba7MahTd0_/

Phim also hopes for the UAAP to return, so that the kids can play and develop.

In that Maroon Talk video, when Phim talked to Demisana, the latter answered that he thinks he should work on his dribbling. Whoa. Looks like he wants to be a more perimeter-oriented player, especially given that he's also looking to work on his shooting touch.

Phim also said that he thinks Demisana can exceed Kai, just because of his age. I'm from UP, and I think that's a pretty strong take. He also thinks that Demisana playing for Gilas is a possibility, which I'm looking forward to.

There's a comment saying that Barasi's already with Adamson, and I also read a post stating that he's with Adamson.

Well, for these guys, can they play any position other than 5?

I know for a fact that the UAAP boys are not exclusively centers, though I dunno yet about Ando. Most can play 4, and in the case of Ballungay and Tamayo, 3 (heck, Ballungay is a natural 3).

As for the NCAA boys, Guarino was said to be a wing, according to Letran's newsletter. Can they develop him into a wing, or will they use him as just a stretch 4, like they did with Ambohot (who also has potential to be a wing)?

I think the personnel and neccesity matters.

Like in the case of quiambao, he will have an opprtunity to be a wing. Because of surplus of bigs in dlsu.

Other teams in which they are only the BIg/ Tall guy. They will really just to be develop as a C.

Unless, you play 5 out. But it will not always translate into wins. And winning matters a lot here in our country.

Well, Letran has a ton of bigs (Fajarito, Javillonar, Ular, Lantaya, Pangalangan), and they've had a culture of winning somewhat, so there could be leeway for Guarino and Ambohot to develop as wings.

But Tamayo and Quiambao were prepped by Goldwin Monteverde to be combo forwards or at least modern bigs in NSNU, despite the fact that they played the two big positions. Ateneo HS developed Lebron Lopez and Josh Lazaro to be wings, despite the fact that those two, like Tamayo and Quiambao, played the big positions. Beda developed 6'5" Justine Sanchez to be able to play wing, despite playing center in Beda HS. Even if you do not have the requisite personnel, you can still develop your center to play other positions. Although, NSNU, Beda, and to an extent, Ateneo HS, have already been winning, giving them leeway to develop players.

6'7 to 6'9 Seven Gagate. Starting center sana ng Batang Gilas kundi lang nagkapandemic. It looks like tumangkad pa siya. It's great na nagtetraining siya under Coach Jeff. Certified NBA skills trainer (Former skills coach GSW). May coaching licensed din sa USA. In my opinion he's the best local trainer sa Philippines ngayon. Sana more players pa will train under him.

I hope he gets a post-up game and hones it. That will serve him well as a 4. Hopefully he can be as good as Tamayo and Baltazar.

As they say the sky is the ceiling for this kid,eve as a practice player in opponents offense/defense against the Gilas players in scrimmage will be a step up in basketball knowledge of a player.

Hopefully Gagate might end up in Ateneo or UP in the future, since they're two of the more Gilas-friendly schools, and have the personnel to enable him to play the 4. La Salle also has players that enable him to play the 4, but historically, has not been as friendly to Gilas.

Your heights are quite exaggerated and misleading.

Commercial break: After the TNT game, Ping's teaching Kouame and Rangel how to operate in the post. That's nice to see.

I saw a couple videos in social media.

So Ping could help our PFs and centers be more competent in the post. A Gilas version of Danny I.

Let's hope our bigs are more competent in the post for this window. If they are, hope we invite more bigs to the pool in the future. Quiambao, Cortez, and eventually Demisana, Amos, and Gagate.

This got me thinking about our bigman development. If we can get more 6'7"-6'8" players to hone their skills down low, we might have a solid pipeline of skilled inside bigs.

Hope those bigs could play 4 as well, though.

If you want them to be an alll around big man, then have RDO as an assistant, hands down can offer alot more than Ping.

A common practice for teams is the phenom tall player does not practice with the bigs , but with the perimeter small players . Tab does this and makes Baltazar and Tamayo grouped together with the perimeter players.. rather than the bigs.
I hope Troy is practicing with the perimeter players not bigs ( didn't see him in that Kouame video)

I know this is not the wing thread but big men, but just wanted to point out how bigs practice 3 point shots is different from how perimeter players do.

Bigs normally are stationary 3 point shooters ( pick and pop) , while perimeter players in the modern game have to be versatile shooters , (meaning they move around go around screens and shoot 3's of the bounce ) it's quite different. I noticed while it has been a marked improvement to see tall players like Baltazar and Troy shoot 3's efficiently. the way they're shooting 3's are like traditional bigs rather than wing players.. Gilas still needs to develop "true tall wings" who move effortlessly and are versatile 3 point shooters if that makes sense.

Yeah RDO skills are teachable while Ping's motor and athleticism isn't. He could be a great motivator though
